3 INTRODUCTION This installation instruction is for Allen Bradley Bulletin 1494F and 1494D mechanisms. These mechanisms are for disconnect switches (1494F) and circuit breakers (1494D) mounted in Hoffman two door, floor mounted, enclosures with the disconnect on the right flange. Master Door INSTALLATION STEPS Step 1 Drill and tap holes required in panel; see figure 1. Two holes are required for un fused switches; three holes for 30, AMP fused switches, and four holes for 200 AMP fused switches. Two holes are required for operators for circuit breakers. Step 2 Install mounting plate (item 1) positioned as shown on figure 3, (item 2 for a 200 AMP switch) and plate gasket (item 3) on the inside of the enclosure behind the rectangular opening provided. Secure in place with four screws (item 4). Step 3 Install door catch (item 5) on tapped block provided on master door; see figure 3. Locate door catch vertically as shown, and secure in place with two screws (item 6) and lockwashers (item 7). Step 4 Remove and discard lock release mechanism from enclosure flange (see bottom of figure 3). Install lock release mechanism (item 13) as shown in figure 3 using the same spacer, nuts, and washers. Adjust lock release mechanism so top of door latch contacts latch stop when door is closed and door handle is fully latched. Step 5 Install Allen Bradley disconnect switch or operator for circuit breakers as follows: 1. Remove nuts and lockwashers from Allen Bradley flange plate. Discard the Allen Bradley flange plate. 2. Place operator handle into enclosure with the operating handle in the OFF position. Tilt the assembly under the flange and at the same time bring the handle through the slot provided in the mounting plate installed in step Secure operator handle to mounting plate with nuts and lockwashers. Fusible Disconnect Switches Only 1. Attach fuse clips provided with the fuse block adapter plate kit to the disconnect switch terminals. See Allen Bradley instructions. 2. Attach the fuse block adapter plate to the disconnect switch mounting bracket. See Allen Bradley instructions. Step 6 Attach disconnect platform and fuse block adapter plate to panel with threaded rods, lockwashers, and nuts. See figure 2. Cut threaded rods (item 9) to length required. See P dimension in table 1. Install threaded rods as shown in figure 2. Adjust threaded rods and nuts so disconnect platform is level. The ends of threaded rods should not extend above nuts on front of disconnect platform. Step 7 Install slide arm (item 8). Unhook spring from the tab on the A B locking lever. Place end of slide arm (item 8) and retaining washer (item 16) over tab, and re attach spring. Attach the bottom of slide arm (item 8) to lock release mechanism (item 13) using flat washer (item 15), lockwasher (item 11), and nut (item 10) as shown in figure 1. See step 8 for adjustment. Step 8 Adjust slide arm (item 8) and door catch (item 5) as follows: 3. Close master door. Attempt to turn ON the Allen Bradley handle. The slide arm should release the Allen Bradley operating handle just before the enclosure master door is fully latched. Adjust slide arm up or down, if required. 4. Leave the Allen Bradley handle in the ON position. Attempt to open master door. Door catch should hook on the Allen Bradley interlock to prevent the door from opening. These mechanisms are for disconnect switches (1494F) and circuit breakers (1494D) mounted in Hoffman two door, floor mounted enclosures with the disconnect on the centerpost. Master Door INSTALLATION STEPS Step 1 Drill and tap holes required in panel; see figure 1. Two holes are required for un fused switches; three holes for 30, AMP fused switches, and four holes for 200 AMP fused switches. Two holes are required for operators for circuit breakers. Step 2 Remove and save locknut; remove and discard parts shown at the bottom of figure 3. Step 3 Install mounting plate (item 1) positioned as shown on figure 3, (item 2 for a 200 AMP switch) and plate gasket (item 3) on the inside of the enclosure behind the rectangular opening provided. Secure in place with four screws (item 4). Step 4 Install door catch (item 5) on tapped block provided on master door; see figure 3. Locate door catch vertically as shown, and secure in place with two screws (item 6) and lockwashers (item 7). Step 5 Replace parts removed in step 2 with release mechanism (item 14); secure in place with locknut. See figure 3. Step 6 Install Allen Bradley disconnect switch or operator for circuit breakers as follows: 1. Remove nuts and lockwashers from Allen Bradley flange plate. Discard the Allen Bradley flange plate. 2. Place operator handle into enclosure with the operating handle in the OFF position. Tilt the assembly under the flange and at the same time bring the handle through the slot provided in the mounting plate installed in step Secure operator handle to mounting plate with nuts and lockwashers.
