3 1 Description You have chosen a Door controller based on the newest microprocessor technology. It uses PWM signal (Puls With Modulation) for driving the motor with frequency inverter. Opposite normal door controls that uses relays (Motor connected directly to Mains supply), is this Door controller able to control the motor torque and revolutions. Advantages: Soft start and stop of the door. Less mechanical wear Increased lifetime of door. Door moves with optimum speed increased comfort and faster opening. High safety level Meets the current EU standard for doors. The Speed Commander Door mini is produced by the best components and SMT technology that ensures long and faultless operation. 2 Safety warnings A qualified person that has experience with electro mechanical doors, and the EU regulations that belong must only install this control. It is the responsibility of the installer for the CE marking of the door. And informing / advising the end user in how to use the door. This Door control is developed so it complies with the demands of EN regarding electrical controlled gates and doors. All units used must be CE approved so that it is possibly to make a final CE- marking of the complete system. Safety edge must comply with EN and must only be connected to the terminals prepared for this. These inputs are of Safety Class II and are internally supervised for correct function before each run. The controller must be set up so that EN is meet. The control setting must be lock before it is handed over to the end user. (Speed and torque). The cable between the motor and control must be shielded and connected as shown in part about motor connections. Do not mount the controller in direct sunlight; this might cause internal overheating of the controller. Do not make changes or modifications to the controller. This might cause personal damage. Do not work with the door without disconnecting the mains supply first. Terminals might contain high voltages up to 5 min s after disconnecting the mains supply. The door might start without warning therefore it might require a warning light. The controller does not start if the internal +24V power supply is short-circuited. The display stays off. There must also be a safety edge on the rear side of the door if it is possible to be squeezed on the rear edge. The rear edge is connected in series with the front edge. (Mount an 8K2 Ohm resistor as shown at drawing below). If it is activated when door is closing the door stops and returns to open position. If it is activated when closing the door stops. The display shows E10 when the safety edge is activated. Connect the safety edge to the terminals 1 and 2 as shown at Figure 2 (Connecting units). Remember to mount a 8K2 ohm resistor in the end of the edge. Figure 3 (Front and rear edge in series) Ver: Rights to changes reserved
6 4.1.2 MIG encoder A MIG encoder is a magnetic pulse encoder that divides each motor rotation into a number of positions. These positions are used to control the door positions. When the door powers up it doesn t know where it is so a reference run is needed. The door finds it reference point and set the position counter to 0. See Figure 10 (Door positions). A MIG encoder with a pulse no of 50 gives 200 positions at each rotation. (No of pulses x 4). Use the mounting instruction enclosed to the MIG to install it at the motor. Connect the 4 wires from the encoder as shown in the table below: MIG: Function: SCDmini Terminal: Brown Supply +24V Terminal 5 Yellow A signal Terminal 6 Green B signal Terminal 7 White 0V Terminal Photocells This controller has an integrated photocell module for a transmitter and receiver. There is no need for any external modules. Note: use only recommended photocell types as described in part 7 Technical data. Install the photocells in the in the door frame and mount the wires in the controller (Do not place the wires close to the motor cable to avoid noise and place receiver closest to the controller). If you are using photocells type D.O.T. connection is like this: Transmitter (Red wire + shield) is connected to Terminal 20 / 21. Receiver (White wire + shield) is connected to 20 / 21. See Figure 2 (Connecting units). To adjust the photocells see part 5.3 Control setup Fire signal If the controller is used on a fire door, that must close when a firesignal is activated, then use the input at terminal 8 AUX1. This is a NC signal (Normally: +24 / Activated: 0V). When the input is activated is it no longer possible to operate the door. Then after the timer function 17 times out the relay function for fire doors is activated (Closing the door by releasing the magnet) UPS signal If an emergency power supply is used to power the door in case of fire, connect a +24V volt fire signal to terminal 9 (NC). If the signal is activated (0V) then the door starts to close with Tip frequency. All safety functions are turned off. Only the safety edge is still monitored, the door stops if it is activated and waits for 3 sec. then it tries to close again. The display shows UPS when terminal 9 is active. See section 4.3 for more information. Please note that parameter 8** must be changed from standard value for this function to work Control panel The drawing below shows an example on how to connect the buttons for the user panel. If a box is mounted at both side of the door, connect the emergency stop and the stop circuit in series. The open and close circuit is connected in parallel. See drawing: Ver: Rights to changes reserved

In both cases is it necessary to use a shielded EMC cable. The shield is connected together with the PE wire to the motor frame (Must be as short as possible). The cable is connected to the controller as shown in Figure 5. Connect the motor in one of the following ways (depending you application): Ver: Rights to changes reserved
8 1. The motor is connected in star if no gearbox is used. See Figure 6 (Star connection). A 6-pole motor (400/690V) is used to obtain more torque. The controllers Voltage / Frequency relation parameter is set to 16,5Hz (This means that the motor gets full voltage at 16,5Hz). This makes is possible to run the door with very low frequency. 2. The motor is connected in delta if a gearbox is used. See Figure 7 (Delta connection). The V/F relation is set to 50 Hz. Figure 6 (Star connection) 400/690V motor Figure 7 (Delta connection) 230/400V motor Always disconnect mains supply before working with the door or controller Motor brake Power relay K0 is set up to control the brake. This is done by setting the parameter B* = 1 (default). Then the relay is activated when output frequency is above 0 Hz. 9 4.3 UPS emergency power To use this function it is necessary to select program no. 21. This is done by pressing all 3 control buttons when powering up and keep them pressed until the display shows P. 20. Then select program P. 21 by using the UP/DOWN buttons and store it by pressing the STEP/STORE. The display will now show P. 21 at start-up. If door needs to be closed in case of fire, running on emergency power from an UPS, (Not using mechanical closing) a fire signal is needed at terminal 9. This function is activated when input is 0V.(+24V when not activated). This makes the door close with TIP frequency. All normal safety features is switched off, only safety edge will be monitored. If the safety edge is activated, the door stops and waits for 3 sec then it tries to close again. All open function is blocked when the signal on terminal 9 is active. The controller is not set up for this function as standard. It is necessary to change parameter 8** (Reference function) to 10. This is done by setting J=33 and then set 8**=10 and then set J= Safety edge UPS Control T1 R1 Photocells 8K2 Safety edge MIG encoder 4.4 Emergency powered escape way (UPS) To use this function it is necessary to select program no. 22. This is done by pressing all 3 control buttons when powering up and keep them pressed until the display shows P. 20. Then select program P. 22 by using the UP/DOWN buttons and store it by pressing the STEP/STORE. The display will now show P. 22 at start-up. This function is the opposite of a fire door, it opens the door in case of a fire signal on terminal 9 (0V). This will cause the door to open with dead man speed. It is not possible to close the door as long as the fire signal is active. When the signal is restored (+24V) the door is returned to normal operation. The display shows UPS when the signal is active. Relay function 19 flashes when the UPS signal is active. Please note that run timer is 4 times as long when running in deadman speed. 13 Abort: Error: The automatic installation can be aborted by giving a STOP command. The display will show E15. Make a new installation from point no. 2. If the distance between P0 and P4 is shorter than the length of P1 is the default values for the positions used and the display shows E15. Make a new installation (Goto no. 2) Old installation process: 1. Checklist before running installation: Make sure to select operation mode J = 1 (Manuel mode). Try to move the door with manual run by pressing the UP or DOWN button at the front foil. Or press the STEP/STORE button and keep it pressed, then press the UP or DOWN button. The door should be able to move in the whole travel area without any mechanical problems. Check that the door opens when the UP button is used and closes when the down button is used. If not swap 2 of the motor wires or change the value of parameter 2** (Display shows E02). Note: Do not touch the terminal or wires before 5 min after switching off the mains supply. Check that the counter direction of the encoder. This is done by opening the door manually as in step 1 and 2. When the door opens the counter value in the display should increase. When the door closes it should decrease. If this is not the case swap the encoder A and B signal wires. See part MIG encoder. Adjust the photocells. This is done by setting the display readout 0** = 10. Now the display shows the signal strength. Adjust the photocells to a value as high as possible. It has to be at least 4. When the setting is done set the readout back to 12 (Par. 0** = 12). 2. Position installation / set-up: Set the operation mode to J = 2 (Installation / Service). If the display shows E13 are the parameters locked and you have to enter the operator code in Par. J. See part 5.2 Parameter setting. Press the STEP/STORE button and keep it pressed. Then press the down button shortly (The direction of the reference point This uses a mechanical reference at closed position). If you press at the wrong key the display shows E04. Choose opposite direction. Note: The motor only runs as long as the STEP/STORE key is pressed. When the door reaches its reference point is stops and the STEP/STORE buttons should be released. The display jumps to the parameter flashing 0 (Par. 0*). This is the position for Door Closed P0. See Figure 10 (Door positions). Now move the door to the closed position by using the UP or DOWN button. When the position is found save it with at short press at STEP/STORE. Press the STEP/STORE button shortly to go to the next position 1* (P1). The safety edge is turned off below this position. Note that this position must be set as close as possible to P0 to avoid personal danger. Move the door to the desired position with the UP or DOWN button and store the position with a press at STEP/STORE. Press the STEP/STORE button shortly to go to the next position 2* (P2). This is the position where the door changes speed when closing (Par. 2 -> Par. 3). This gives a steadily closing of the door. Move the door to the desired position with the UP or DOWN position and store it with a press at STEP/STORE. Press the STEP/STORE button shortly to go to the next position 3* (P3). This is the position for reduced opening (P3). This can be used for personal walk through at large doors. Move the door to the desired position and store it with a press at STEP/STORE. If not used just press STEP/STORE Press the STEP/STORE button shortly to go to the next position 4* (P4). This is the position for door fully open. Moved the door to the desired position with the UP or DOWN button. Store the position with a press at STEP/STORE. Ver: Rights to changes reserved
14 The controller now jumps to Par. J Operation mode. Set the operation mode to J = 4 for automatic mode and save it with a pres son STEP/STORE. Now press the STEP/STORE until normal readout is shown. Now the door is ready to Automatic / Normal operation. But first it needs to make a reference run. Giving the controller a standard open or close command does this. Now test the door functions: open, close, safety edge, ect. When this is done reset the controller by pressing the UP and DOWN button for 10 sec in normal readout (Or remove mains supply) This lock up the parameters, so that the user can t make any dangerous changes to the parameters. Then parameters can t be change without first entering the operator code. Ver: Rights to changes reserved
