3 Itroductio These istructios apply to the Cofigura chair by Accora. Please read them carefully before settig up ad usig the chair ad keep them i a safe place for future referece. These istructios iclude details of the performace of the chair. If the chair malfuctios, shows sigs of damage or excessive wear, or otherwise feels usuitable, please take it out of service ad cotact your supplier immediately. The Cofigura is desiged to be cofigured to suit a rage of differet size, pressure ad posture requiremets. Weight capacity: Small = 20 stoe Medium = 25 stoe Large = 25 stoe Medium Low Profile = 20 stoe Large Low Profile = 20 stoe Accora classifies the Cofigura as a cofigurable seatig solutio for varied ad chagig user eeds. The ability to cofigure the size, pressure ad posture requiremets allows the chair to be used for may differet user requiremets. It is particularly suitable for Equipmet Loa Store use as the chair ca be easily re-issued. We strogly recommed that aybody issuig the Cofigura has atteded a Cofigura Product Traiig Sessio. Chair set-up The chair cofiguratio is selected by a healthcare professioal via the Cofigura Assessmet form. If extra parts are required, they ca be ordered separately from Accora. The Cofigura should be selected for users: With eurological coditios who have reduced sittig balace With progressive coditios where the risk of developig pressure damage is likely to icrease Who have oedema or fluid build up o the legs Who have poor circulatio Who have skeletal issues (such as kyphosis) ad require adjustmet of support i the backrest Who have difficulty i sit-to-stad trasfers For a copy of the Cofigura Assessmet form or for a parts ad accessories maual, please cofigura@accora.uk.com The Cofigura is desiged to offer the right size ad to accommodate pressure care ad postural requiremets for differet users. The Cofigura ca accommodate moderate postural requiremets but is ot suitable for users that lea to oe side heavily or have fixtures such as proouced widsweepig, fixtures or pelvic obliquity. It is also ot suitable for users who have severe ivolutary movemets. The Cofigura is suitable for users with eurological coditios such as MS, MND, demetia ad Parkiso s etc. This ico deotes that this item is ot ormally stocked by Equipmet Loa Stores. 6 P O S T U R E Posture Cofigura has differet optios for posture maagemet: Multi-adjustable Pillow Backrest (std) Each pillow is height adjustable ad the fillig ca be customised to the user. Offerig mild to moderate postural support, the Multi-adjustable Pillow Backrest is highly effective for users with a kyphosis or a scoliosis. Lateral Support Backrest The Lateral Support Backrest ecourages a midlie sittig positio ad is suitable for users who require icreased lateral support. Users with eurological coditios (icludig MS) will beefit from the firm but comfortable support. Adjustable Lateral Support System Flat foam backrest with adjustable Velcro lateral support system. Excellet for providig more aggressive lateral support ad mild positioig. 1 /4 Depth Adjustmet For use with the Lateral Support Backrest to adjust its agle. Either to tilt it backwards or forwards or from oe side to aother. Pillow (std) As per the top pillow o the Multi-adjustable Pillow Backrest. Idetificatio Each Cofigura has a ID umber o the base frame. This umber must be quoted o ay correspodece with Accora. Assessmet A idividual assessmet of the user s eeds is essetial prior to issuig Cofigura. Assessmet should be carried out by a competet healthcare professioal with i depth kowledge ad traiig o seatig requiremets. We also strogly recommed regular product traiig from Accora to esure the prescriber is up to date with the features of the chair. 8 Tools Required: Adjustig the Seat Height 1 Carefully tur the chair o its side. 2 Remove the stadard feet of the chair. At the frot, this is achieved by simply uscrewig the feet by had; at the rear a spaer is eeded to udo the feet. 3 Havig removed the stadard feet, replace them with the larger woode feet which are supplied i the Height Adjustmet Kit o the Cofigura parts ad accessories maual. 9 4 Whe the feet are secured, check the chair is o a flat surface ad that the chair sits o all four feet without rockig from side to side. 5 Elevate the legrest. 6 Remove the overlay from the legrest ad from udereath the seat base ad the sides of the cushio. 7 Remove the legrest upper part which is secured by Velcro ad move it dow 2 so the legrest becomes 2 loger. 10 8 Re-fit the overlay. First fix the overlay at the bottom part of the legrest, the the top part of the legrest ad the fix it to the seat base o the Velcro adjustmet tabs udereath the seat base ad o the sides of the cushio. Esure the overlay is securely fixed. Adjustig the Seat Depth 1 Remove the bottom two cushios from the backrest. 2 Attach the Depth Adjustmet Kit with the Velcro at the top as show. 3 Re-attach the two bottom cushios to the depth adjustmet kit o the Velcro tabs provided. The top cushio fits as ormal o the Velcro tab at the top of the backrest. Esure the cushios are firmly fixed o the Velcro tabs provided. 11 Chagig the Pressure Cushios 1 Remove bottom cushio. 2 Remove overlay from the sides of the cushio ad udereath the seat base at the back. 3 Remove existig cushio. 4 Fit ew cushio fasteig it i place usig the flap at the frot of the chair. 12 Set-up of Cushioair cushio: Cushio dial: The Cushioair cushio is a powered alteratig air cushio. Regular alteratio of the cell iflatio stimulates blood flow which ca help heal ski tissue. Below is a guide for settig up the Cushioair cushio for Cofigura chairs. Please ote that professioal iput may be required from a Tissue Viability Nurse or District Nurse. This guidace should be used i cojuctio with regular moitorig of the user s pressure care requiremets. A cushio is just oe of may factors ifluecig the risk of developig pressure damage. 1) Esure the cushio is fitted to the chair correctly as per the istructios below (ote that there are two versios of the Cushioair cushio oe with a cover ad oe without). 2) Esure the cushio is switched o ad that the gree light is showig o the pump. 3) Esure the pipes are chaelled through the back of the chair correctly ad that the pump is i a safe place behid the chair. 4) Whe the cells have fully iflated, trasfer the user oto the chair. 6) Check with the user that the cushio feels comfortable. Adjust as ecessary util the maximum comfort level is achieved 7) If the user is uable to provide feedback about the comfort level, you have to make a iformed decisio takig ito accout the weight levels above. NB: please ote that the weight guidace i poit 5) should oly be used as a guide. 17 Fittig a Self Supply Cushio Whe fittig a self-supply cushio to a Cofigura chair, it is importat to cosider the size of the cushio you are itedig to fit. Below are the sizes of the seat base o the various Cofigura chairs: Small Medium/Medium Low Profile Large/Large Low Profile W=18, D=16, H=4 W=20, D=18, H=4 W=22, D=18, H=4 If it is ot possible to provide a cushio that is exactly the correct size, it is ormally acceptable to use a cushio size that is withi 1-2 of the seat base dimesios. Whe fittig a self-supply dyamic cushio, remember that most dyamic cushios have a bolster at the frot to reduce the possibility of the user slippig forward. The Cofigura chair has a iheret frot bolster, so if usig a self-supply cushio with a bolster, the self-supply cushio will fit further back tha ormal. There are two ways of fittig a self-supply cushio: Method 1: Overlay udereath the self-supply cushio This self-supply cushio fits o top of the overlay so the user is sittig directly o top of the cushio. Try to use a cushio with dimesios as close as possible to the seat base dimesios. Method 2: Overlay o top of self-supply cushio The overlay fits o top of the self-supply cushio i the same way as with the Cofigura cushio rage. Although the cushio fits better usig this method (as the overlay holds everythig together) the overlay may affect the cliical effectiveess of the alteratig therapy. 1 Remove lower backrest cushio 2 Remove the overlay from udereath the seat base ad from the sides of the cushio Accora Cofigura assessmet helplie: cofigura@accora.uk.com 17

20 Chagig the Backrest Cushios 1 Remove the bottom two cushios. 2 Fit the ew backrest esurig it is firmly secured o the Velcro tabs provided. This is importat whe usig the depth adjustmet kit. The cushios ad depth adjustmet kit ca be moved up ad dow o the velcro tabs to accommodate differet postural requiremets. Always esure the cushios are firmly fixed o the velcro tabs before use. Fillig ca also be removed from the Multi-adjustable Pillow Backrest as described below. Please ote that fillig should ot be removed from the Lateral Support Backrest. Whe removig the cushios o the Multi-adjustable Pillow Backrest, fold the Velcro flaps o the cushios back oto the cushios so that fillig ad dust does ot get caught i the velcro. Use cautio whe usig the lateral support backrest with the dual motor tilt-i-space mechaism as it itroduces shear. 21 Chagig the Headrest 1 Remove the top pillow from the backrest. 2 Replace with Profiled headrest. Fillig ca be added or removed from the headrest as required. Removig fillig from the Multi-Adjustable Pillow Backrest This is sometimes required to accommodate postural requiremets such as a kyphosis. 1 Remove the cushio from the backrest ad udo the zip at the back of the cushio. 22 2 Remove the fillig from the white iteral bag as required ad re faste the zip o the cushio, esurig that o fillig is caught i the zip. Remember that the cushios take a few weeks to mould to the user so avoid takig out too much fillig o iitial set-up. Fittig the 1 /4 1 Depth Adjustmet Remove the desired backrest cushio. 2 Place the 1/4 depth adjustmet o the velcro tabs o the backrest to give support i the appropriate place. 3 Re-fit the backrest cushios o top. 23 Reversig the Armrests The armrests ca be chaged from side to side so the overhag is o the iside. This decreases the width betwee the armrests by about 11/2 for extra postural support. 1 Usig a cross head screwdriver, udo the screw at the back of the armrest (ote screw is quite log). 2 Tap armrest towards the back of the chair so it comes loose. 3 Remove the armrests from the side piece. 4 Put the right had armrest o the left had side ad the left had armrest o the right had side. 24 5 Retighte the screw at the back of the armrest. Fittig the Chael Legrest 1 Elevate the legrest. 2 U-Velcro the Overlay from the legrest sectio. 3 Place the Chael Legrest o top of the legrest sectio. Removig the Backrest 1 The backrest iserts ito two brackets o either side of the seat base. 27 2 It is the fasteed with two small lockig clips. 3 To remove the backrest, push the two lockig clips away from the backrest bracket. 4 Pull the backrest sharply upwards. Note: whe fittig the backrest, it is easier to push the lockig clips i from the back of the chair. Whe removig the backrest, it is easier to push the lockig clips away from the frot of the chair. It may also make it easier if you reclie the chair back to make the backrest brackets more accessible. 28 Chagig the Hadset Side 1 Remove the hadset from the loop o the side of the chair. 2 Remove the hadset from the Velcro loop at the back of the chair. 3 Faste the cable with the Velcro loop o the other side of the chair. 4 Feed the hadset through the loop o the other side of the chair. 29 Removig ad Fittig the Overlay The overlay is fasteed i three places: the legrest, the sides of the cushio ad udereath the seat base at the back of the chair. 1 Release the Velcro from the udereath the chair, the sides of the cushio ad the legrest. 2 Replace overlay startig from the legrest, the udereath the seat base, the the sides of the cushio. It is easier to access the Velcro fasteig udereath the seat base if the backrest is removed. Whe fittig, always esure that the overlay is secure o the Velcro fasteig tabs. Replacig the Armrests 1 Usig a cross-headed screwdriver, remove the screw from the back of the armrest. 31 Replacig the Armrest Covers (icludig 30mm Arm Height Icrease) 1 Remove the armrests as described above. 2 U-Velcro the armrest covers from the armrest iteral parts. 3 Fit ew cover startig from the frot of the armrest ad makig sure the cover is pulled taut. 4 Re-fit the armrest as described above. 32 Replacig the Side Pieces 1 Plug chair i ad esure it is stable. 2 Reclie the chair to its maximum. 3 Remove the 4 wood screws (2 either side) from the iside of the frame of the chair at the frot. 4 Now raise the chair to its maximum. 33 5 Remove the 8 (4 each side) machie screws from the frame. Remove the 4 woodscrews (2 either side) from the iside of the frame at the back. 6 Remove the side pieces. 7 Take the ew side pieces ad rest them o the brackets at the bottom of the mechaism. 8 While supportig the side piece, re-fit the machie screws i the side pieces. Use cautio whe tighteig the screws to avoid strippig the screw heads or the threads. 50 Iitial Istallatio Prior to istallatio ad use, please esure the chair will ot be hidered by ay object as this will affect the performace ad could damage the mechaism. You will fid a lockig clip attached to the bracket, which should be pushed away from you to lock the back ito positio. The chair should be positioed with eough room for the chair to fully reclie. There will be a extesio cable located at the rear of this chair. For safety reasos ad before coectig to the trasformer, check that this cable has ot bee damaged i trasit. After coectig the trasformer, plug the uit ito the power source ad switch o power o ready for use. Please do ot plug the Cofigura ito a extesio lead. The chair must have a dedicated power supply.
