4 2- DESCRIPTION The CIDS is a compact fully integrated outdoor package substation with medium voltage equipment, transformer, and low voltage equipment. The package substation is completely manufactured and assembled ready for installation on site. It ensures a high level of protection against access to live parts with a protection degree of IP 54 according to IEC The operation and control is achieved from the front of the unit, with separate compartments for medium voltage and low voltage sections. Four lifting lugs located on the upper part enable the lifting of the complete unit easily Major Benefits Compact design-reduced footprint Reduction of space requirement. If filled with flame retardant fluid, risk of transformer fire is greatly reduced due to high fire and flash points Environmental Integrity Low profile design requires minimum real estate. Dielectric fluid replaces ozone-depleting SF6 gas, currently used in RMU switching modules. 3

5 2.2. Main Components Enclosure Single compact enclosure housing the transformer, medium voltage and low voltage sections. The is designed to be installed outdoor, with a protection degree of IP 54 according to IEC Low voltage section This section can be designed and manufactured according to the needs of each customer. Basic equipment includes: Low voltage bushings Three current transformers Four outgoing circuits by fuse links Three ammeters One voltmeter + one selector switch Optional: Circuit breakers instead of fuse links Multifunction electronic meter Medium voltage section It includes the following components: Plug-in bushings Two sectionalizing switches for incoming and outgoing lines with earthling facility Main interrupter for protection against overloads and secondary short circuits Backup fuses for protection against internal faults Tap changer for voltage control (off-load) Voltage presence indicators Hotstick for sectionalizing switch operation Optional: Earth fault and short circuit indicators Transformer section It includes the core and the windings of the transformer. 4
