3 We have specially developed this tool kit P/N KPFD3 to ensure easy maintenance of our AstiPure PFD3 pumps and AMC3 pulse dampers. Instructions on how to replace the shaft composite rings on PFD3 pumps and AMC3 pulse dampers are also valid for AMC4 pulse dampers. Carefully follow the instructions described in the operating instructions of our products to assemble and dismantle spare parts. Our tool kits are specifically designed for replacing the following parts: I Replacing the shuttle valve Use the screwdriver (P/N 1646) to dismantle (assemble) the screws of the shuttle valve (P/N 2715). II Replacing the pump bodies Use the torque wrench (P/N 1707) to tighten (loosen) the tie rods on pump bodies. Hold the nuts on one side with the wrench (P/N 1711) and simultaneously unscrew on the other side with the torque wrench (Figure 1). To reinstall the bodies, proceed the same way: nuts need to be cross-tightened with the torque wrench P/N 1707 (please see tightening procedures as described in the pump's manual). Figure 1 2/8

4 III Replacing the lip seals Lip seals (P/N 2777 and 2778) can be dismantled with the tool P/N First remove the delivery check valve, insert the tool P/N 1704 and push to extract the check valve and the suction lip seal (P/N 2778) as shown in figure 2. To remove the delivery lip seals (P/N 2777), insert the tool P/N 1704 into the suction side of the pump housing and push as described in Figure 3. Figure 2 Figure 3 3/8

5 Lip seals (P/N 2777 and 2778) can be reinstalled with the tool P/N Position the lip seal on the tool, and install it in its housing (Figure 4): Figure 4 4/8

6 IV Replacing the shaft composite rings on pumps Each of the 4 shaft rings (P/N 2793F) is composed of three parts: An O.ring, a slit spacer and a sleeve (Figure 5). Use the pick (P/N 1643) to remove worn shaft composite rings (P/N 2793F) from the core (P/N 2805). Use the silicon grease (P/N 1700) when installing / replacing the new shaft composite rings (P/N 2793F) and the shaft (P/N 2770) Slit spacer Sleeve O.ring 2793F O.ring Slit spacer Groove D Groove C Groove B Groove A Figure 5 You should first place the rings in inner grooves (indicated as B and C), and then in outer grooves (indicated as A and D), as explained here after. IV.1 Installing rings in inner grooves B and C IV.1.1 Installing slit spacers First place a slit spacer in each inner groove B and C: Use pliers (not supplied in the tools case) to reduce the diameter of the slit spacer (Figure 6), and then place it in the groove (Figure 7). 7 Figure 7 IV.1.2 Installing O.rings Then place an O.ring in each groove: Insert the shorter side of the O.ring positioning tool (P/N 2505) in the core (P/N 2805). Place the O.ring against the tool and insert it into the groove (Figure 8): Long C Short B Figure 8 6/8

8 IV.1.3 Installing sleeves Now place a sleeve in each groove with the sleeve insertion tool (P/N 2690): Squeeze the sleeve into a "bean" shape as described in figure 9, and insert it in the tool (P/N 2690). Step Step 2 Step 1 Figure 9 While holding the shorter side of the O.ring positioning tool (P/N 2505) against the core, place the sleeve insertion tool (P/N 2690) equipped with the sleeve on the other side and press the push button to release the sleeve free (Figure 10) Long 2690 Short Push Figure 10 7/8

9 Use the pick (P/N 1643) to correctly position each sleeve in its groove. Be careful not to damage the sleeve (Figure 11) Figure 11 IV.2 Installing the rings in outer grooves A and D Proceed the same way to install rings in grooves A and D, but following a different order: First place the O.rings in their grooves (Figure 4), then the slit spacers (Figures 2 and 3), and lastly insert the sleeves (Figure 6). Use the longer side of the O.ring positioning tool (P/N 2505) to position O.rings and sleeves. V Replacing the shaft composite rings on pulse dampers Proceed the same way for AMC3 and AMC4 pulse dampers using the tool P/N 2503 instead of the tool P/N AstiPure is a trademark of Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics Asti 8/8
