12 VERTICAL CONTACT TOASTER MAINTENANCE (continued) 11. Install the Release Sheet by placing it over both sides of the Platen with the crease centered on the Platen. NOTE: Extend the life of the Release Sheet by rotating from the black side to the silver side on a daily or weekly basis. 12. Install the Bun Chute so the hooks are over the lower rear Support Rod. Install the Heat Shield with the Release Sheet retainer clips securely over the Release Sheet and Platen. 13. Reinstall the Bun Feeder and plug in the unit. NOTE: Make sure the Heat Shield is activating the Conveyor Safety Interlock Switch. The Conveyors will not rotate unless the Heat Shield is in place and the Conveyor Safety Interlock Switch is activated. NOTE: Check the Release Sheet to make sure it is not caught in the Conveyor. Additional release Sheets can be obtained through your Authorized Service Agency under P/N (3-Pack) or (10-Pack). CAUTION Failure to use Release Sheets may result in damage to the unit and loss of warranty coverage. Monthly REPLACING THE BLACK AND SILVER RELEASE SHEET WARNING Turn the unit off, disconnect the power source, and allow the unit to cool down before performing any service or maintenance on the unit. MEASURING CONVEYOR BELT Facing the toaster, locate the approximate center point of the Conveyor Chain. Pull the chain away from the edge of the toaster. Stand a U.S. Dime, 11/16 (1.8 cm) coin on end between the frame and the chain. If the gap is significantly wider than the coin, REMOVE links as described below. Then, measure the gap again to make sure it is not too tight. Check the opposite side of the toaster using the same measurements. REMOVING CONVEYOR BELTS After a period of time, the Conveyor Chain links will wear and the chain will stretch, eventually skipping on the sprockets. This is easily fixed by removing one or more conveyor links from each side of the belt. 1. Perform steps 1-4 under Replacing Belt Wraps on the previous page. 2. Disconnect the Conveyor Belt Chain by squeezing any two links together and unhooking both ends of one link (Figure 4). NOTE: Depending on usage and level of cleaning, the Release Sheet may last up to days. 1. Remove and discard the Release Sheet. Upper Support Rod Rotation 2. Lay a new Release Sheet on a clean, dry surface and fold it in half lengthwise. Then gently crease it at the fold using only your fingers (see below). 3. Install the Release Sheet into toaster. Small Link P/N Large Link P/N Figure 4. Removing Conveyor Belt Fold over so ends meet. Press Lightly with finger to form crease. 3. To shorten a stretched Conveyor Belt Chain, remove one 1/2 link from the belt. 4. Reassemble the Conveyor Belt Chain onto the sprockets as described below. NOTE: If the belt is too short to be reassembled, remove a second 1/2 small link and install a 3/4 large link. This will shorten the belt by 1/4 overall. 12 P/N Rev. P 10/16

13 REPLACING CONVEYOR BELT CHAINS 1. Remove the old Conveyor Belt Chain. 2. Place the replacement Conveyor Belt Chain on the top sprockets with hook ends down. Check for correct positioning (Figure 4). NOTE: The ends of the hooks must point down. (Figure 4). 3. Wrap the Conveyor Belt Chain around lower sprockets and hook both ends together. NOTE: Make sure the Conveyor Belt Chain is installed below the upper support rod and above the lower support rod. MAINTENANCE (continued) VERTICAL CONTACT TOASTER REPLACING ROLLER TENSIONERS 1. Remove the acorn nuts and old roller Tensioner Assembly (Figure 5). Acorn Nuts Tensioner Assy. Weld Screws Tape Spacers Figure 5. Replacing Roller Tensioner Assy. MEASURING ROLLER TENSIONERS Measure the Roller Tensioner on both inner Conveyor Covers (See below). The space between the inner Conveyor Cover and bottom of the Tensioner wheel should be 13/16 (2.1 cm) or the height of a U.S. Nickel. Adjust or replace any damaged ones. 2. Replace Tensioner Assembly and reassemble. 3. Make sure the spacers are placed inside the Tensioner arm. The spacers are smaller than the holes to allow the Tensioner to pivot freely. P/N Rev. P 10/16 13

14 VERTICAL CONTACT TOASTER MAINTENANCE (continued) Replacing Belt Wraps NOTE: Depending on toaster usage and how well they are cleaned daily, the Belt Wraps may last in excess of 6 months. Additional Belt Wraps may be purchased from your Authorized Service Agency. 1. With power off and toaster cool, set crown and heel compression knobs to 6 & F. Remove top cover and both conveyor covers. Remove current belts by either removing lacing pin or using scissors or razor knife, carefully cut the belt free of the wire, drive belt. NOTE: Check conveyers chains for proper tension and remove a link if necessary (see page 12). 2. Before installing new conveyor belt wraps, wipe conveyers chain links with sanitized towel (see owners manual for instructions). Pick belt up from the center and feed flap end beneath yellow bar and lower belt until the other end of the belt is on the bottom of the toaster. Ensure the Run Belt This Direction arrow follows the same directional path as the wire belt. Feed belt from the bottom through bottom yellow bar until both ends are approximately in the middle of the toaster. 3. Starting at a conveyor link in approximately the middle of the conveyor chain, attach the top hook of each clip to a conveyor link and gently push the belt downward to attach the bottom of the clip to the link directly below the top hook. NOTE: There are 2 different size conveyor links, ensure the clips are attached to the larger 3/4 links, do not attached to small 1/2 links. 4. Verify both clips on the belt wraps are secured to the links on the conveyor chains. Then position both ends of the new belt together and line up so the lacing is even. Insert the pin to join both sides of the belt together. 5. Verify belt alignment is even from side to side of each belt. Reinstall both conveyor covers and top cover. Set the compression knobs to 3 and E. Plug in the power cord and turn the unit on. 14 P/N Rev. P 10/16
