3 Presentation Overview KJA0072 Pole mounted switch disconnectors for demanding outdoor environment General description We believe that flexible solutions and competent support are key elements for your continued success. Schneider Electric develops and supplies solutions finely tuned to user requirements and standards. The pole mounted FLUSARC family is the right solution in operation everywhere in Medium Voltage Networks. Example of FLUSARC P-LA installation Features The pole-mounted FLUSARC are switch-disconnectors insulated in SF6, reliable for outdoor use. They can be connected to aerial lines. Welding of components is carried out through the method called TIG, which consists in melting the edges to be joined without weld material. The external operating mechanism is very simple and reliable, since it is of the type with independent operation on exceeding dead center; the contact operating shaft rotates on bearings housed in a stainless steel box, which guarantees long endurance. Indication of the contact position (open/closed) and SF6 gas pressure are visible at the foot of the pole through two inspection windows located under the operating mechanism protection. The operating mechanism cover is steel made, properly worked and painted in order to withstand atmospheric agents. 6 Product description General KJA0051 FLUSARC P-LA Aerial line connection insulator 2. Inox AISI 304 stainless steel enclosure 3. Operating mechanism cover 4. Safety valve located in the rear side of the enclosure 5. Contacts position inspection windows 6. Open/close operating lever 7. External cone disconnectable socket The pole-mounted FLUSARC P-LA enclosure is made of stainless steel AISI 304. It has an IP67 protection degree. The operating mechanism protection frame is also made with stainless steel with IP54 protection degree. The SF6 gas pressure inside the enclosure is 0.3 bar relative at 20 C. The pole-mounted FLUSARC are manufactured with horizontal translation contacts with selfblasting operation which enable electric arc extinction. The bushing insulator connections are of silverplated copper. The contacts support and bushing insulators are of epoxy resin, filled with quartz so they are resistant to ultraviolet solar rays. The FLUSARC P-LA switchdisconnectors are constructed with non-toxic material and are completely retrievable; for this reason it is possible to recycle 80% of the material used at the end of their working life. KJA0058 Connections The electrical connections to the main circuit are achieved by external cone disconnectable sockets (connections which are in accordance with EN type C interface standards). 2 1 Installation The pole-mounted FLUSARC P-LA switches can be horizontally assembled at different height from ground and can be operated in full safety either on poles or on towers with operating rods or hot sticks. The pole (2) assembly is performed by means of an horizontal switch support (1) and a strip (3). KJA Pressure gauge On request it is possible to apply a pressure gauge to check SF6 pressure outside the switchboard, protected by a hood. The rated pressure is 130 kpa absolute at 20 C. 6

Movements of motorized control mechanism (Optional) If the FLUSARC P-LA switch disconnector is fitted with motorized control (optional), the open/close functions can be performed remotely in accordance with the circuit diagram supplied as part of the contract. Manual operations Manual operations can always be performed, when remote operations are not possible: for example missing of supply. Remote operations The switch disconnector can be operated from remote through a properly set up control panel. The operating mechanism is of overcoming dead center type. The spring is loaded before the operation. There is available an exchange contact to indicate the switch disconnector position. Closing the switch disconnector When the switch is in open position, it can be closed pushing the close button. Push the close button to make the operation. The motor starts to load the spring. When the spring is fully loaded, the spring is released to make the operation. Opening the switch disconnector When the switch is in close position, it can be opened pushing the open button. Push the open button to make the operation. The motor starts to load the spring. When the spring is fully loaded, the spring is released to make the operation. 9

11 KJA0303 General Ecological considerations The switch disconnector satisfies to a high degree the ecological requirements in respect of environmental protection thanks to optimization of material and energy consumption during manufacture compliance with all ecological requirements during its service life the use of recyclable materials for efficient disposal at the end of its service life. Our design directive regarding environmentally compatible design specifies the use of materials which can be dismantled and are easily recyclable. The metals which form approximately 90% of the switch disconnector are easily recyclable. They can be 100% recycled as new metal components at the end of their service life. Disposal valve Plastics can also be recycled. The thermosetting plastics can be fragmented and reused as fillers in other plastic components; the thermoplastic materials can be recycled in new plastic components. This means that the material is recovered, processed and reused in the manufacture of new parts. To ensure efficient and environmentally friendly dismantling and sorting of materials by responsible disposal experts, all plastic components are identified accordingly. Moreover, material and utilization data sheets are available to provide the customer with an overview about the materials used, and the disposal company with important information regarding the recycling process. Thus, the materials used for our products can be 100% recycled. This provides a vital contribution to savings in global primary energy and material resources. All materials were selected and developed so that, for example, switch disconnector affected by a fire in a building would have a minimal effect on the fire load (heat development and pollutants in the emissions). Another important ecological aspect is the longevity of our products (approx. 30 years), which is an extremely long service life compared to other capital goods. Also, the FLUSARC P-LA switch disconnector units have been designed to require little maintenance, giving further energy and material savings, and to enable straightforward replacement of component parts, e.g. if new controllers have been developed (upgrading). The high-voltage conducting parts of our gas-insulated switch disconnector units are hermetically sealed in an insulating inert gas (sulphur hexafluoride SF6 which is neither reactive nor toxic). Thus, all environmental influences which could reduce the service life are kept outside. The particular characteristic of the insulating gas also enables the overall size to be decreased by approximately 30% compared to switch disconnector without insulating gas designed with equivalent technical characteristics. This again saves on material and saves on the energy required to produce the material. The amount of insulating gas used in FLUSARC P-LA is approx. 0.5% of the total weight of the switch disconnector. Once the switch disconnector s service life has ended, the gas can be completely extracted via the disposal valve provided in each gas-filled compartment, and then recycled. To this end, the gas suppliers have developed an efficient recycling method. In normal operation, the gas need never be replenished during the entire service life. The switch disconnector has been designed as a hermetically sealed pressure system according to IEC and EN
12 Installation FLUSARC P-LA KJA0060 Isolators assembling Refer to the following figure and perform the procedure: Clean the epoxy bushing cones that hold out from the inox switch box, using a cloth; Lightly evenly spread the silicone grease all over the isolating surface; Insert the conductor (1) and screw it till the keystroke and tightening are complete; Insert the EDPM isolator (2) into the conductor and push it till the keystroke towards the switch is complete; Insert the terminal cover (3) into the conductor; Insert 1 bolt M16x1.5 onto the conductor (1) and bolt it completely. Note: the 2nd bolt shall be used to tighten the air cable to the conductor (1). Ref. Q.ty Description 1 1 Thready pin 2 1 Silicone protection 3 1 Washer D Hexagonal nut M16x1,5 Outdoor assembling After assembling the outdoor isolators, refer to the following figure and perform the procedure: Apply the switch disconnector support (1) to the pole (2) and fix it with strips (3); Place the switch on its support by a crane equipped with a suitable cable, connected to the lifting eyebolt; Fix the switch to the support with a (4) M12 x25 bolt and apply 50 Nm ±5 tightening torque. 16 Shipping FLUSARC P-LA Packing Strictly observe the symbols and the instructions indicated on the packing. The FLUSARC P-LA switch disconnectors are usually packed either inside a cardboard box or in a wooden case and firmly fastened at the base of a wooden pallet, but they can also be packed with other methods, according with the shipment and storing requirements and complying with the Customer requests. The apparatuses are protected by polystyrene foam panels and wrapped in a waterproof plastic housing, in order to prevent any water infiltrations during the loading and unloading phases and to protect them from the dust during storage. Leave the equipment in its original packaging during storage. If units or parts are unpacked for checking, they must be repacked for continued storage, using the original packaging. Avoid condensation. Transport The motor vehicle used for the transport must be equipped with the loading platform realized in an anti-slip material with a high friction coefficient. The switch disconnector must be positioned on the loading platform transversally back to back, by interposing materials fit for absorbing the compressions and for eliminating any possible direct contact of the surfaces of the different apparatuses. On the loading platform, purposed longitudinal members must be disposed, in order to space every switch disconnector and to prevent both its longitudinal and its transversal shifting. The different switch disconnector must be anchored to the motor vehicle structure by means of ropes, in order not to provoke deformations and to prevent their possible turnover on curves or in case of a sudden braking. Besides, the motor vehicle used for the transport must be equipped with a covering sheet.
