1 PUMP MITSUBISHI S.I / 5 CPN2.4 SENSOR REPLACEMENT PROCEDURES FOR CRS FOR MITSUBISHI FUSO 6M70 This service information bulletin describes the replacement procedures for the fuel temperature sensor, the speed sensor and the overfl ow valve installed on the CPN2.4 high-pressure pump for the CRS system on Mitsubishi-Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC) 6M70 engines. 1. FUEL TEMPERATURE SENSOR, SPEED SENSOR AND OVERFLOW VALVE Overfl ow valve Fuel temperature sensor Speed sensor P-COMC Part name Bosch part no. Install the fuel temperature sensor and tighten it to the specifi ed torque. Specifi ed torque: 30+5 N.m {3.

2 S.I / 5 2. FUEL TEMPERATURE SENSOR REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT (1) Remove the fuel temperature sensor using a spanner (SW19). Always be careful to prevent dirt or dust from entering the opening where the fuel temperature sensor is installed. (2) The fuel temperature sensor is assembled with a gasket. Install the fuel temperature sensor and tighten it to the specifi ed torque. Specifi ed torque: 30+5 N.m { kgf.m} Be careful not to damage the connection where the fuel temperature sensor is installed. When the sensor is replaced with the pump installed on the engine, run the engine and check that the warning lamps do not light and that no fuel leaks.

3 3. SPEED SENSOR REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT S.I / 5 [1] Speed sensor removal (1) Remove the torx screw fi xing the speed sensor. Torx screw: T30 (2) Remove the speed sensor. The end of the sensor is magnetic. Be careful not to pick up any iron fi lings, etc. Do not damage or bend the adjusting shim. [2] Measuring speed sensor dimensions Measure the distance between the speed sensor installation face and the tip of the speed sensor of both the previously installed sensor and the new sensor using a depth gauge. If the dimensions are the same, you can reuse the adjusting shim or install a new shim of the same dimension. ('[4] Gap adjustment' on the next page is then not necessary.) Adjusting shims Bosch part no. Thickness t = 0.1 mm t = 0.3 mm t = 0.4 mm If the dimensions are different, you must remove the gear pump after installing the new speed sensor to measure and adjust the gap between the speed sensor and the tip of the internal gear (see '[4] Gap adjustment' on the next page).

4 S.I / 5 [3] Speed sensor installation (1) Confi rm that the O-ring is seated closely against the bottom (the seating face) of the sensor and that it is not folded or twisted. (2) Apply grease all around the O-ring and install it without damaging it. (3) If the O-ring is damaged during installation, replace it with a new one. O-ring part no.: ±0.1 mm Thickness gauge P-CP2A-014 (4) Install the adjusting shim and tighten the torx screw ( ) to the specifi ed torque. Specifi ed torque: [4] Gap adjustment (1) Remove the gear pump and confi rm the gap using a thickness gauge. Gap between speed sensor and tip of internal gear: 0.3±0.1 mm (2) If the gap is not as specifi ed, adjust it using the adjusting shims listed on the previous page. (3) Replace the gear pump O-ring with a new one. Gear pump O-ring: (4) Attach the gear pump to the bearing end plate using the torx screws. Specifi ed torque: 8±1 N.m {0.8±0.1 kgf.m} The sensor is fi xed by one torx screw. Tighten it to the torque specifi ed above. Do not overtighten it. When the sensor is replaced with the pump installed on the engine, run the engine and check that the warning lamps do not light and that no fuel leaks. 8±1 N.m {0.8±0.1 kgf.m} Advice Tighten diagonally opposed torx screws gradually and evenly, and then fi nally tighten them to the specifi ed torque. 5 4. OVERFLOW VALVE AND COLLAR REINSTALLATION S.I / 5 Overfl ow valve Reinstall the overfl ow valve with the gaskets and collar before returning the repaired pump. Collar Any malfunctions that arise after replacing the fuel temperature sensor or the speed sensor (damage, oil leaks, etc) are the responsibility of the company performing the actual replacement.
