1 March Rev 01 Purpose PLAYDIUM Payment Door FRU Installation Guide This document provides information about the Playdium Payment Door Field-Replaceable Unit (TouchTunes p/n: ) and shows how to perform its replacement on a Playdium jukebox. IMPORTANT: A properly-grounded anti-static wrist strap should be worn at all times during the procedure presented below.

The proper procedure for ejecting the core from the chassis appears in both the Playdium Quick Start Guide (TouchTunes p/n ) and the Playdium Installation and Setup Guide (TouchTunes p/n ). This guide assumes that you have already removed the core from the chassis, and does not provide the steps to replace the core on its chassis, at the end of the procedure. Once you have removed the core from the chassis, set it aside on a clean, level surface where it won t be in your way while working on the chassis.

3 Playdium Front Door FRU Installation Guide Removing the Previous Payment Door 3 Removing the Previous Payment Door You must remove the previous payment door and disassemble it to move some of its components to the new payment door. 1. Disconnect every cable that connects to the payment door or one of its components: Bill acceptor(s): disconnect the cable from the backplane. Credit card reader: disconnect the USB cable from the backplane. Payment means backlighting: disconnect the cables from the backplane. LIGHT ID MODULE RF REMOTE LAN USB SIDE LIGHT RIGHT ART R04 MNGR PAYMENT LIGHT 1 & 2 3 & 4 DOOR SWITCH COIN ACC 2 BILL ACC 1 SERIAL 4 USB 5 Door switch: First, you must disconnect the cable that goes from the door switch to the backplane. Then, pull out the door switch by pressing on a tab on the left side of the switch, and pushing the switch out the front. Press the tab on the side of the switch, then pull the connector out. TAB TAB 2. Unfasten the damper by removing the screw that holds it to the chassis Cut the zip tie that holds the cable bundle to the chassis, and remove it.

If your payment door is also held up by a metal cable tether on the left side, you will have to remove the screw that holds the washer, which holds the tether to the door, and then un-hook the tether from the door. From here until the door has been removed, you will need to support it to prevent it from going down too far, and getting damaged. 5. Loosen the hinges by loosening (but not removing) the screw circled below on each hinge. 6. Pull the door up and off the hinge mounting plates, and set it on a level surface. 7. Remove the door lock by removing its two screws, and pulling it left, then up and out of its position. 8. Remove the latch by pushing it to the left (A), then pulling it out (B). B A

5 Playdium Front Door FRU Installation Guide Removing the Previous Payment Door 5 9. Removing the damper from the inner panel will let you move it out of your way. Turn it one quarter turn, then pull it off. 10. For each bill acceptor, remove the four screws and pull off the bill acceptor, to set it aside for later. This is usually easier to do after removing the bill stackers. 11. If you want to re-use the mechanical counter from this payment door, remove the two screws from the mechanical counter, and pull it off the panel. A new mechanical counter is already installed on the replacement door, but you can switch it with your existing counter if you prefer. 12. Disconnect all the backlighting cables connected to the door. When you are done, the only remaining cable will be the one from the credit card reader.

Remove all the screws that fasten the inner panel to the rest of the door. There are 10 medium-sized screws, and 2 smaller screws (circled in blue). 15. Pull off the inner panel.

7 Playdium Front Door FRU Installation Guide Removing the Previous Payment Door Lift the panel and flip it over, then remove the two screws that hold the backlighting plate, and remove the plate. 17. Remove the four screws that hold the credit card reader to the inner panel. 18. Pull out the credit card reader. You will have to run the bundle of cables through the credit card reader opening, or undo the bundle (cutting zip ties) to pull out the credit card reader s USB cable.

8 8 Playdium Front Door FRU Installation Guide Assembling the Replacement Door Assembling the Replacement Door 1. Unpack the replacement door, and place it face-down on a level surface. 2. Remove the door lock by removing its two screws, and pulling it left, then up and out of its position. 3. Remove the latch by pushing it to the left (A), then pulling it out (B). B A 4. Remove the two screws that hold the inner panel to the rest of the door. (Circled in blue, below). 5. Pull off the inner panel. 6. Lift the panel and flip it over, then remove the two screws that hold the backlighting plate, and remove the plate.

Position the credit card reader you removed from the previous door onto the inner panel, ensuring it is in the correct orientation (the slot extends to the left) then fasten it using the four screws you removed from the original credit card reader. 8. Re-install the credit card reader backlighting plate, fasten it back to the panel, using the two screws you removed previously. 9. Position the inner panel in the payment door, and fasten it using all the screws you removed earlier, except for the one circled twice on the left side (as you will be installing a bracket there in a moment.)

Each connector is labeled (top refers to the top when the door is installed; in the previous figures, the door is effectively upside-down.) You can re-use the cables you removed from the previous door, or the cables which came with this FRU kit, if the originals are damaged. 11. Run the replacement credit card reader s USB cable along with the other cables, then wrap and tie all the cables back together, as they were before. 12. Secure the cables to the door with zip ties, at the same points where you cut zip ties earlier. 13. Reinstall the latch. Before inserting the latch into its bushings, ensure that the bushings are installed properly. The bushing is ribbed, to allow the spring to snap onto it. Ensure that the spring is properly snapped onto the bushing before attempting to insert the latch. RIB BUSHING

11 Playdium Front Door FRU Installation Guide Assembling the Replacement Door Reinstall and fasten the door lock. 15. Reinstall the bill acceptors. 16. Route the cable bundle around the payment means and other payment door components, such that it doesn t prevent any moving parts from moving freely, and doesn t get in the way of any payment means. Due to the lengths of cable used for each backlighting element, there is only one way to route the cables. 17.On the chassis, any door hinge mounting plates can be replaced with the mounting plates provided in bag #4 from this FRU kit. Remove the damaged mounting plate by removing its two screws and pulling it off. Position the replacement mounting plate, and screw it in place using the screws provided in bag # Insert the payment door into its hinges. 19. While holding the door and pushing it up slightly to keep the hinges from dropping all the way down, tighten the screw on each hinge. You will be readjusting the height of the door on the hinges in a moment. 20. Using three of the screws from parts bag #1, fasten the door tether bracket to the door. 21. Hook the tether to the bracket, then fasten it using the washer and screw that were packaged with the bracket. 22. Fasten the damper to the door by inserting it into its slot (A), and then turning it one quarter-turn (B). Fasten the other end to the chassis, using the screw you removed earlier (C). B A C Note: TouchTunes recommends applying Loctite Threadlocker to the screw before performing step C.

Reconnect all cables: Door switch: run the door switch cable through the door switch hole in the middle bar of the chassis, then reconnect the cable to the switch. Reinsert the switch into position (push until it snaps into place) and finally, connect the cable to the backplane. Payment means backlighting: reconnect to the backplane. Credit card reader: reconnect USB to connector USB 1, on the backplane. If you had removed the bill stackers, you can now snap them back on. 24. Fasten the cable to the chassis-side door tether bracket using a zip tie.

13 Playdium Front Door FRU Installation Guide Adjusting the Door Height 13 Adjusting the Door Height Try closing the payment door. Are the bill stackers preventing you from pushing the door shut? Is the door not snapping shut when you push it all the way up? In both cases, the door may be sitting too low in its hinges. Also, if the door won t shut because it comes up too high, you may need to lower it at the hinges. The drawing on the right shows how the door should align with the rest of the chassis and with the core, and how thick the gap between the core and the payment door should be. Surfaces must be in line visually Gap between core and payment door must be between and To adjust the door height: 1. Loosen the single screws in each hinge. Door and bottom of chassis must be in line 2. Push the door up or down on each hinge, depending on the desired adjustment. Both hinges should be at the same height. 3. While holding the door in position, tighten the screw on each hinge. Finishing Up CAUTION: Do not power up Playdium immediately after installing a core that was brought in from a cold place into a warm place, as condensation may have occurred on internal components. Wait for the unit to reach room temperature before using it. 1. Set the power switch on the Playdium s power strip to ON. 2. Close the payment panel by gently pulling it up and shut, then pressing on its front face to engage the locking mechanism. 3. Secure the payment panel by using the key to lock its case.
