1 Rev 2 SOP Instructions & Check Sheet for MATRIX X Bike Installation Tools Needed 1. 13mm, 15mm (for pedals) and 17mm wrenches 2. Metric Hex Keys (long) set including 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, and 6mm. 3. Cable cutters or a sharp diagonal cutter 4. Tube of waterproof grease 5. Tin of GT80 or other PTFE based lubricant 6. Cleaning materials including soft cloth and light cleansing materials Carton Contents 1. X-Bike Indoor Cycle Frame including Seat Post and Handlebar Assembly comprising Gripshift system and Hand Grips 2. Separate Box with X-Bars Handlebar System Head Unit 3. Separate box with X-Bars bottom cover 4. Separate box with the front base leg including feet 5. Separate box with rear base leg including feet 6. Separate package with Seat 7. Separate Box with the following: o Head stock adaptor o Bag of Head stock adaptor bolts o Quick Release for seat slider o Bolts, Nuts and Washers for legs (4sets) o Handlebar clamp including bolts o Pedals x 1L & 1R o Square rubber gator for Frame head tube o Protective cable end nipple o Bar Ends x 1L & 1R 8. Separate package with the User s manual Assembly Time: Approximately minutes Installation 1

2 Install Legs Using a 6mm Allen Install the leveller feet so all 4 take Wrench and a 17mm box wrench equal weight of unit. Remove the seat post from the bike and apply a thin coating of grease to all four sides of the seat post, then reinstall Seat and Seat slider fitted and Grease the threads of the pedals, post tightened to the Seat post. Install and tighten Pedals Fit Adaptor to the X-Bars Handlebar Apply a thin coat of grease to all four (R)ight side/ (L)eft side System (& cover fitted) sides of the adapter, then install the X- Bar and gator into the Frame head tube Grease the spring posts in the X-Bars Handlebar System as follows 1. Remove both the left and right side covers from the X-Bars by removing the four screws attaching the covers. 2

3 2. Apply grease to the top and bottom of the spring posts at the points indicated. Try to force the grease under the loop of the spring loop and into the groove on the posts. Pushing the X-Bars left and right to gain as much access as possible. The photo below shows the bars with all four covers removed for clarity Reinstall the side covers Install Bottom Skirt Install Left and Right Bolts Finial Setup 1. Adjusting the Seat Adjust the seat post so that it is level, or slightly up at the nose. To do this it s necessary to first loosen the left and right clamps in the seat rails, and then rotate the seat as required. If smaller adjustments than the clamp detents allow are required, moving the seat fore or aft in the clamps will adjust the nose up or down OK 2. 4 Apply a thin layer of grease to the threads of the four clamp bolts Install the clamp and finger tighten the bolts diagonally to ensure there is an even/light pressure applied to all four bolts. Fine tuning the Handle Bar Setting Just before the clamp takes pressure, adjust the orientation of the bars so that the exit route of the Grip-shift & brake lever has approximately 5mm (1/4 ) clearance with the top of the Cover AND the slight bends in the handlebars are angled toward to rider compartment and up at appx. 20 degrees above horizontal to the ground when viewed at eye level from one side or the other In order to have the Grip-shift clear the top of the cover AND have the bends in the handlebars set at 20 degrees above horizontal it may be necessary to loosen the 2.5mm hex bolt on the backside of the shifter and rotate the unit approximately 5mm (1/4 ) or so on the handlebar. If ok then tighten bolts in an X pattern Installation of the new shifter Note: You will need to remove the current shifter and brake lever on the bike. 1. Remove the old shifter from 2. While pedaling the X-Bike with the resistance on med-low (but not entirely off) spray the lubricant on the edge of the flywheel where the resistance pads squeeze against it, just above where the pad contacts the flywheel. Only do this if a cable adjustment will not solve the problem. Make sure you apply the spray all the way round the flywheel on both sides. 2. Continue pedaling for seconds and then wipe away the excess lubricant. NOTE: After spraying the wheel it will slide nicely through the pads and improve the overall resistance actuation. Do this weekly to keep them that way. 3. If for some reason the resistance feels too easy after spraying the wheel you can tighten it up by turning the barrel adjuster located where the cable enters into the brake and turn it left or right for more or less resistance. If you NOTE: If after using the barrel adjuster to adjust the cable tension and the tension is still too loose you may need to adjust the brake cable. 1. Make Sure you have the shifter set to low 2. With a 5mm Allen wrench loosen the anchor bolt and pull the cable tighter. 3. Tighten the ancor bolt 4. The correct tension on the cable will be when the shifter click up a few it makes slight contact with the Flywheel. 6
