1 3.24 Clamps and spacers 1. Introduction The two clamps and the spacer from the range of simatec accessories have the following features: Simple assembly. The clamps can be opened and closed without tools. The Perma clamp adapter can be used to attach the simalube lubricator to existing installations for Perma lubricators. 2. Installation and start-up 3.1 Fasten clamps with screw or insert Perma clamp adapter into existing pipe clamp. 3.2 Wedge simalube lubricator with the clamp, snap it on either in the first or second position as required. 3.3 If the dispenser is equipped with a round brush Art. No. 2034, it can also be fastenend on the round brush. This is fastened using clamp Art. No If the system (dispenser and round brush) is exposed to severe vibrations, it is also necessary to fasten the dispenser using a clamp. In this case the spacer Art. No should be placed under the clamp Art. No (on the round brush). 4. Note It is recommended to use clamps from the range of simatec accessories. 11 3.20 Bent connections 1. Introduction Three bent connections are available. These accessories have the following features: No angles but round bent channels. Wide diameters, no contractions which can cause unnecessary counter-pressure. The bent connections are compatible with the entire range of simatec accessories. 2. Installation and start-up 3.1 Screw bent connection in directly at the lubrication point. Use a suitable reducing nipple if necessary. Cover the lubrication point with sealing tape depending on the thread. 3.2 Screw the lubricator directly into the bent connection. It may be necessary to install a connection between the dispenser and the bent connection. To do so, use the quick connections Art. No and 1071 and the hose Art. No Keep connections as short as possible! 4. Introduction The Y manifold from the range of simatec accessories has the following features: Widest possible diameters The Y-manifold allows to fit one lubrication point with two simalube lubricators. This allows to double the amount of lubricant dispensed or the duration (however, never longer than 12 months). Due to the longer dispensing time, the maintenance intervals can be prolonged, therefore reducing costs. The Y-manifold is compatible with the entire range of simatec accessories. 2. Cover the nipple with sealing tape depending on the thread of the lubrication point. 3.2 Determine required length of hose. 3.3 Fill hose with grease. Use same grease as in the lubricator. 3.4 Plug hose into the connections and install properly. 3.5 Make sure that the connections do not get bent; For small bending radius use the article 2004; always keep hoses as short as possible! 3.6 Set dispenser to the required dispensing time. 4. Note The longer the connection, the higher the pressure required to dispense the grease to the lubrication point. 16 3.25 Grease gun 1. Introduction In order to refill small numbers of simalube lubricators with grease, it is recommended to use the grease gun Art. No (DIN No. 1283) from the range of simatec accessories. 2. Operating instructions (filling simalube lubricators) 3.1 Fill grease gun with grease or insert 400 ml cartouche 3.2 Screw filling nipple onto empty lubricator. 3.3 Push piston on lubricator down all the way (up to the thread bottom). 3.4 Connect grease gun filling tube to the filling nipple and fill lubricator with grease. 3.5 Note: Do not overfill lubricator! Stop filling when the piston is at the top position (cartridge side). 3.6 Remove filling nipple from lubricator. The lubricator is connected to the grease gun filling tube by the refilling nipple 4. Note Detailed instructions for filling and refilling simalube lubricators can be found in the sales handbook, section 5, Training. 17 3.27 Connector- and Refilling-Nipple 1. Introduction There are three fill or refill nipples as well as one connector nipple available. These parts are used to fill and refill the lubricators or to cleangrease lines of installations respectively. 2. Applications Article-No Article-No / Connector nipple Screw the connector nipple on the lubricating point. Add the grease gun (Art. no. 3010, see 3.25) and clean the grease lines with some pushes. Caution! Do not grease too much. Unscrew the connector nipple 3011, screw on the lubricator and start Refill nipple Screw the refill nipple 3012 on the lubricator. Press the grease into the lubricator with the grease gun (Art. no. 3010, see 3.25) until the piston has reached the back position. Caution! Do not overfill. If too much grease is pressed into the lubricators they may break on the funnel / 3014 Connector nipple The connector nipples can be attached to a filling station. With the opening on the funnel the lubricators are pressed over the cylindric outside of the nipples. Afterwards the grease can be dosed into the lubricator. When the lubricator is filled, pull it off the nipple and place the next lubricator on the filling station. 4. 18 3.26 Extensions 1. Introduction Four extensions are at your disposal. These accessories have the following features: Big cross sections, no contractions which provoke back pressure. Extensions can partly be used as fixing aids for lubricators or brushes. See point 4 for further information. The extensions can be used with the entire accessories line of simatec. 2. Use appropriate reducing nipple if necessary. Provide the thread of the lubrication point with sealing tape. 3.2 Extensions with external screw threads can be fixed to any component (e.g. covering, plate, flange etc.) by the enclosed screw nut. According to requirement a lubrication line will be drawn to the lubricating point or a brush with lateral oil feed can be screwed in. 19 connection with thread 1. Introduction It is often difficult to position grease dispensers rectangular to the lubricating point in applications with little space. For such installations the 90 connection with thread is very suitable. This accessory part is characterised by the following attributes: - Little space required - 90 connections can also partly be used as mounting supports for dispensers or brushes. See also point 4. Notes. - The 90 connections are compatible with the entire accessory programme of simatec. 2. Fasten the connection with both nuts on a counterpart (flange, sheet plate, etc.). At the end of the connection further accessory parts such as brushes, round brushes, quick connection couplings, etc can be added. Pay attention to the fact that a suitable seal is set in between the 90 connection and the chosen accessory part. A typical application of the 90 connection is the lubrication of escalators, see also the leaflet Escalator lubrication system in chapter Note - The 90 connection with thread is also very suitable as a mounting support (see picture below). - These parts are suitable for oils (SL 14 and SL 15) and fluid grease (SL 06). simatec Data sheets connection with thread
