4 Introduction Welcome to the Porsche AfterSales Special Tools & Equipment Master Catalog. We hope this new dealership aid will assist you in identifying, cataloging and determining any future tool requirements. We have a added a new section with additional information on the Porsche Special Tool Rental Program. This program is not meant to replace the requirement for your dealership to inventory or purchase tools, but provide the service for specialty tools or lost or damaged tools that may be needed for an immediate repair. We are also very excited about our business relationship with Volkswagen Group of America s Special Tools & Equipment Program and Snap-on Business Solutions. You will find information contained on page 3 on how to access the Porsche specific website along with technical support for all your tool & equipment requirements. This is only the first phase with this program and we hope to expand with further services and enhancements in the near future. This catalog can be found online via PPN>Portal>Porsche Cars North America>Aftersales>Technical Support>Special Tools & Equipment or a direct link on the 1st page about half way down on the right side under PPN Shortcuts called Special Tools and Equipment. 5 Test Component & Special Tool Program How to request a rental tool or test component. The Technical Support Center has a select supply of various test components and Porsche Special Tools that are available to complete or shorten the repair and diagnosis of Porsche vehicles. Step 1 The dealer fills out the Special Tool Request* form (STR) found in the PTEC system to make the request. On the form, please include the following: A complete description of what you need The tool number and/or the control unit part number A purchase order number (P.O.) Your FedEx account number for billing The preferred method of shipment (overnight, second day, ground etc..) * The STR form is in the process of being revised. If the vehicle is under warranty, the associated fees (control units, tools and shipping) can be submitted for reimbursement through the warranty claim. Step 2 Dealer Support will promptly send the requested item to the dealer. The dealer, when finished, will return the Diagnostic Test Component/Porsche Special Tool back to Porsche Dealer Support. The Diagnostic Test Component/Porsche Special Tool must be returned within days. The dealer will receive an reminder notice for any Diagnostic Test Component/Porsche Special Tool that is not received after days. Diagnostic Test Component/Porsche Special Tools that are not received within 30 days will be automatically billed at current dealer cost. Diagnostic Test Component/Porsche Special Tools that are damaged or lost will incur charges. Diagnostic Test Components Policies As a service to our dealers we encourage the use of test components prior to the replacement of a defective part/component. Under a warranty situation, we require a submission of a TLAR before requesting the test components. This can ensure a first time repair and reduce unwanted obsolete dealer parts inventory or electrical components. A nominal charge of $50.00 (USD) is billed for vehicles out of warranty. Special Tool Rental Policies Each Dealer is required to keep a complete inventory of minimally required Porsche Special Tools. Tools that break or become lost must be replaced in a timely manner so that future repairs can be performed. Under most circumstances rental tools should therefore not be required. Periodically Porsche will reduce the required list of special tools a Porsche Dealer needs to inventory. This is done to address the lower likelihood of need from older vehicles. Dealer support will maintain a supply of these vintage tools for the repairs on older vehicles. We will charge a nominal rental charge based upon the type of tool requested. The rental/loaner fee varies with the tool requested, with a minimum fee of $ The dealer must return these tools back to Dealer Support in clean, useable condition! 6 What tools or test components are available for rent? There are many tools & test components available in the Porsche Rental Tool Program. You may contact Dealer Service Technical Support via PTEC for specific information. For rental Control Units and Special Tools, you will be charged a rental fee as well as the actual shipping fee for the item. The average control unit rental fee is $50.00 (shipping paid by dealer), and Special Tool rental fees are applied on a case-by-case basis. Important! > Try not to damage any Special Tools during use. 8 Tool Storage System As a part of Porsche Dealership Operating Standards, each Dealer must maintain their Porsche Special Tools in a neat, organized manner while allowing for a minimum of 250 sq. ft. of tool and equipment storage area. As part of this requirement Porsche has specified approved methods to store special tools. Each dealer is required to have one of the options highlighted in this bulletin. Tool Drawer Layout PCNA will provide periodic updates to each Dealer for the proper layout of Special Tools within the cabinet drawers. A silhouette of each tool has been created in each drawer for easy identification and inventory. A set of plastic drawer liners is included with new tool cabinet orders. (Dealers with existing cabinet sets have been shipped new plastic liners for their cabinet drawers). Ordering Procedures See Special Tool bulletin information for complete details and ordering forms. Completed forms can be faxed or ed for processing. Any specific questions about this requirement should be directed to your respective Regional AfterSales Manager. Your RAM can assist you in selecting the best option for your Porsche Dealership. Cabinet Options PCNA offers 4 different options tailored to the specific needs of each Dealer and the space allocated to special tools and equipment. 5 Tool Cabinets This includes 4 low cabinets (each individual cabinet 30 x 28 x 33 ), and a fifth cabinet (30 x 56 ) with wider drawers. All cabinets include with a maple worktop. Total package Includes 3 base risers and locks for each cabinet. 3 Tool Cabinets This includes 2 tall cabinets (30 x 28 x 59 high) and a third cabinet (30 x 56 ) with wider drawers, 3 base riser and a maple worktop. All cabinets will include a set of locks. Classic Tool Cabinet This cabinet is for storage of your non fast moving & Classic Tools. We will continue to move and update this cabinet as space is available. Panamera Tool Cabinet This new cabinet will provide storage for your Panamera tools and future models as well as storage for newer 9x7/9x1series tools. Tool Cabinet Maintenance and Drawer Inlays Based on your dealerships cabinet system selection, we offer drawer inlays to help organize your Porsche Special Tools for maximum efficency.
