2 PREFACE This report presents Vehicle Classification distributions by roadway segment for the majority of the State Maintained Highway System. The roadway segments are considered to be homogeneous in nature with regard to truck volumes. Truck volumes for each segment represented were taken at a point within a segment where traffic volume counts are conducted annually. Multiple Volume count locations may be represented throughout a Vehicle Classification count segment. Therefore truck percent may vary from volume count to volume count. Using the formula below, apply the number of trucks from the Classification count to the Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT) from the volume count locations (provided in this book) within the truck segment. This will result with the truck percent of the given segment. *Example: The above classification count covers an area that has 4 volume stations within the From and To ( , , and ). 5 Formula: Trucks/AADT = Truck Percentage The total number of trucks ( + ) is 6,939 The AADT for site is 44,500 6,939/44,500 = 15.59% Trucks is 47,000 6,939/47,000 = 14.76% Trucks is 49,500 6,939/49,500 = 14.02% Trucks is 50,000 6,939/50,000 = 13.88% Trucks * The data used in this example may not current and should not be used in determining the most up to date truck percentages. Please refer to the charts provided in this report for the most recent data.

3 The data collection provided is in direct conjunction with the Nevada Department of Transportation, Traffic Information Division s Annual Traffic data collection plan. Each Segment of roadway is identified by a Begin and End point in two different manners. 1. From and To Physical location (example: CA / NV Stateline) 2. County mile point (example : CL 0.00) is collected using one of the following methods: 1. Permanent Continuous Weigh In Motion (WIM) (up to 365 days per year 24 hours per day) 2. Permanent Continuous Automatic Vehicle Classification (AVC) (up to 365 day per year 24 hours per day) 3. Short Term AVC (up to 7 continuous days 24 hours per day) 4. Manual Classification (24 to 48 continuous hours, [by manual observation]) Vehicle Classification distributions are based on number of axles as defined by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). 6

4 The of column indicates the last time data was collected in the segment. An E in the column indicates that data collection was last done prior to Therefore the data is estimated based primarily on the adjacent segments data. Some segments in this report show no data at this time. This is due to adding locations which prior to 2017 were not being collected. This report is expected to be dynamic, it likely will expand in scope as we determine the need for vehicle classification data collection on routes which we have not collected data. We may also determine that consecutive segments of roadway are actually homogeneous, allowing for the elimination of data collection at some sites.
