2 Tahoe Basin AND SURROUNDING REGION Attractive to outdoor enthusiasts with over 85% of Basin land publicly owned, over 75% by the USFS The Basin is tied by proximity and economics to the Truckee/I-80 corridor, Carson City, the Carson Valley and Reno Transportation infrastructure and services need to address: - Use by over 3,000,000 annual visitors it and 70,000-plus 000 residents, second-home owners and commuting workforce - Impact on air and water quality (Urban area runoff, much of it transportation system-related, is the source of more than 70% of the pollutants clouding Lake Tahoe.)
3 Tahoe Transportation DISTRICT (TTD) Established in 1980 by an amendment to the bi-state compact for sharing Lake Tahoe resources/responsibilities Works with California and Nevada state and local agencies and communities Facilitates transportation additions and improvements Has the authority to own and operate systems and facilities Partners in planning, raising revenue for and implementing a full, safe, integrated Tahoe region transportation system

6 Incline Gateway COMPLETED PROJECT Facilitated community, state and federal agency cooperation to improve intersection safety, operation and aesthetics Response to community concerns about multiple accidents, high seasonal traffic Completed in summer design and construction managed by NDOT - community-led art project for roundabout center Helping to protect lake clarity by lessening roadway deterioration and erosion/runoff
