2 Page 1 President Report Don Glennie, President January Issue December s Meeting Review Thoughts fro the President Well it doesn t fill like January, that s for sure. Thanks to everybody that showed up last month, we had a great turn out for part 1 of the history of venting. Make sure to be there for part 2, the sizing of vents it will be better than the first part. We had 2 new members make it to the meeting Bruce Morgan (the new Lochinvar rep.) and Ashley Baker from GMB A/E, congrats to both. Gordy has set up some excellent educational programs over the next 3 months, so please encourage your co-workers new and experienced to come to the meetings. We will have more information coming on the big month of May (seminar, trade show and golf outing). Don Our December meeting featured a taped presentation by Mr. Julius Ballanco, PE. Mr. Ballanco is the current President of ASPE National. This was the first part of two taped presentations. This session provided and overview and history of venting. More from the President Don Glennie, President Good Day All, I wanted to inform you of two major announcements: ASPE now offers Online Education! Currently, there is one test available entitled "Fuel Gas System," which is currently accessible by members for a cost of $65 and $125 for non members. Any members who participate in the Online Education Opportunities will receive CEU credits for their participation. ASPE plans to have more tests available for To learn more, please visit: The second announcement is in regards to Volume 2 of the Plumbing Design Handbook. The first shipment is expected to arrive to ASPE HQ's the first week of January. At that time we will begin shipping the handbooks to the first portion of the membership base (going in alphabetical order). The second and final shipment will arrive the 2nd week of January. I see by Eastern Mi. newsletter that Bob Konyndyk will present a venting program,and the 2006 code, in February for their chapter. Maybe we can get some people to go! We have some interesting topics the rest of the year for your professional education {it should never stop}. Please try to make this meeting { PRIME RIB }. Hope to see ya. NOTE: Following the Federal mandate for water efficiency outlined in the Environmental Protection Act of 1992, Electronic Faucets can be rated for water consumption based on two standards: flow rate and water consumption. THERMOSTATIC MIXER Unlike a standard mixing tee, TOTO s true thermostatic mixing valve provides an anti-scald feature using a state of the art shape memory alloy (SMA) controller. This mechanism reacts instantaneously to water reaching excessively high temperatures and automatically turns the water off preventing any discharge. Temperature stability is maintained to within +/- 3 F regardless of pressure and temperature fluctuations in the supply lines. Check valves are integrated into the mixer to prevent cross flow of water. The temperature of the water can also be adjusted with an external control knob. SMART SENSOR A self-adjusting sensor facilitates installation by preventing the need to make additional manual adjustments to the detection range, depending on the size of the basin the faucet is installed upon. The faucet will also automatically shut off in cases where false detection may occur, preventing water from continuously running. OPERATING PROCEDURE By placing your hands under the faucet, a sensor beam path is broken, causing the water to turn on. Water flows for as long as you need it while your hands are under the faucet.
