To ensure that your installation proceeds smoothly--please read these instructions carefully before you begin. UNPACKING All American Standard Products Are Water Tested At Our Factory. Some Residual Water May Remain In The Valve During Shipping.. Remove the Bedpan Washer items from the carton. The illustration below shows all items after they have been removed from the carton. Some items may be packaged partially assembled to other items.. Flush Valve Assembly (optional) Must be purchased separately. Down Tube and Vacuum Breaker. Diverter assembly. Straight Tailpiece. DRY WITH A SOFT COTTON FLANNEL CLOTH. Water supply lines must be sized to provide an adequate volume of water for each fixture. Water pressure over 80 psi is not recommended with most plumbing fixtures Flush all water lines prior to operation. DO NOT use pipe sealant or plumbing grease on any coupling! Protect the chrome or special finish on the Bedpan Washer. DO NOT USE toothed tools on finished surfaces to install or service these valves. Also see Care and Cleaning section of this manual. M960

4 INSTALL TAILPIECE and DOWN TUBE with VACUUM BREAKER; Fig.. Slide the COUPLING NUT () onto the TAIPIECE ( or a). Place SEAL WASHER () with the tapered side facing down into the COUPLING NUT ().. Thread and tighten COUPLING NUT () to DIVERTER ASSEMBLY (). Fig.. Slide COUPLING NUT (a) onto the DOWN TUBE (). Place SEAL WASHER (a) with the tapered side facing up into the COUPLING NUT (a).. Thread and tighten COUPLING NUT (a) to DIVERTER ASSEMBLY (). TAPERED SIDE UP a a TAPERED SIDE DOWN -/" OFF-SET TAILPIECE OR a INSTALL SPUD FLANGE COUPLING; Fig.. Place the SPUD FLANGE () over the spud on the Fixture.. Thread SPUD COUPLING NUT () onto Spud. Make sure SEAL WASHER () and FRICTION WASHER () are installed. Do not tighten fully. 5 INSTALL BEDPAN WASHER; Fig.. Install BEDPAN WASHER ASSEMBLY () into SPUD ASSEMBLY () on fixture. Push the ASSEMBLY () down until the TAILPIECE () seats on the internal stop. Do not fully tighted SPUD COUPLING NUT (). Fig.. TAILPIECE () may be cut to obtain the correct rough-in dimensions for flush valve. INSTALL FLUSH VALVE; Fig. 6 Note: Flush valve () not included with Bedpan Washer and must be purchased separately. Fig. 6. Install FLUSH VLAVE () per manufactures instructions. M960

6 INSTALL SUPPORT BRACE; Fig. 7 Fig. 7. Determine required length of SUPPORT BRACE () by measuring the distance between finished wall and back of the DIVERTER VALVE () at support rod hole. Add /" (6mm) to the length determined and cut the SUPPORT ROD () to size.. Rotate the DIVERTER VALVE () to allow threading SUPPORT ROD () into back of diverter body. Slide wall SUPPORT ROD FLANGE () onto SUPPORT ROD () and rotate the DIVERTER VALVE () so that the wall SUPPORT ROD FLANGE () is flush with the wall.. Using the SUPPORT ROD FLANGE (), mark the two holes on the finished wall for the mounting screws and anchors. Rotate the DIVERTER VALVE () to the side and drill two /6" holes in the finished wall -/" deep.. Rotate the DIVERTER VALVE () and align the SUPPORT ROD FLANGE (). Secure the FLANGE with two Anchors and Screws (not provided). Tighten SET SCREW (). X+/" (6mm) ANCHORS CUT THIS END SCREWS FINISHED WALL X+/" (6mm) 6 TEST INSTALLAED BEDPAN WASHER; Fig. 8. Align FLUSH VALVE () and DIVERTER VALVE ASSEMBLY () and fully tighten all connections.. Push the DIVERTER ARM and SPRAY () down, parallel to the toilet rim. Flush the toilet to activate the SPRAY (). Fig. 8. Check all connections for leaks.. Return the DIVERTER ARM and SPRAY () to the up-right position. M960
