20 How to select a LiFePO4 manufacturers? On the paper, LiFePO4 is attractive, but: When we test 20 manufacturers, performances are from good to very bad, with a lot of manufacturers delivering performances which does not satisfy ELU requests. 20

21 How to select a LiFePO4 manufacturers? Utilising ARTS Energy 20 years expertise in Li-ion to select a LiFePO4 manufacturer for ELU, we did: 1) Electrical tests: 20 manufacturers tested during 2 years. Two of them have been selected. 2) audit in their factory, to check industrial know how. 3) new batches are regulary evaluated (electrical performances). LiFePO4 electrodes manufactoring process very sensible to humidity (life duration). 21

27 Standard to demonstrate LiFePO4 compliance in ELU? How to size a LiFePO4 battery integrating the capacity fading during the 4 years? For both Ni-Cd and Ni-MH it is clearly defined: For 1h applications: battery capacity = (1h*Idisch)/0.6 For 3h applications: battery capacity = (3h*Idisch)/0.75 How to demonstrate the 4 years life with a LiFePO4 battery? For both Ni-Cd and Ni-MH it is clearly defined: 6 70 C to demonstrate 4 40 C C to demonstrate 4 50 C But LiFePO4 can not be 70 C, nor 60 C for many products. 27
