The newsletter will carry the latest general meeting minutes. The date above the title will be the date of those meeting minutes. Obvious to me, the newsletter will be published sometime after the meeting (maybe a week or two after the meeting). The "Flash!" section is to alert and remind you of the next meeting. We will include other news, features, and member articles and pictures. Readers are invited to send articles, photos for inclusion in the next issue. Send them to amhoff93010@verizon.net Al Hoff, Editor Meeting Minutes, 01/07/2015: Minutes of the Condor meeting held January 7 th, The meeting was called to order at 7pm with 39 members and 1 guest in attendance. Robert Fish led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Additional officers for 2015 were nominated, Randy Bronson for treasurer, and Margaret Barrett for secretary. Chris Brashears moved that the names be accepted, and Art Gunderson seconded the motion.. The club voted unanimously to accept the Board's recommendations. There is a meeting scheduled with the University on Jan 10 th. We have received no communications 1 regarding additional days. The request was for Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Wednesday, and apparently our request is still being reviewed by the park committee members. For the year 2015 there will be an audit of our financial status. Art Gunderson and Bruce Oldander volunteered to represent the membership. Since we have waived the 2015 dues our income will have dropped considerably. It was moved and seconded that we discontinue having the large trash can at the field. The monthly cost is $39. The motion carried. Another monthly expense that we might be able to reduce is the meeting room. We currently pay $65 per month and Robert W will scout around for a less expensive location. The issue of retaining an attorney was raised and the membership agreed that we should retain the one we are currently using. They can file our taxes and maintain our non-profit status with various entities. Membership renewal fees were discussed again. If we get 3 days of flying we may have to pay the university more monthly. The issue was tabled until the next meeting when the issue of more flying days will have been settled. There was a motion that we eliminate the runway fee for new members. The December minutes approved paying the fee but no dues. It was moved that we postpone runway fees for new members for 1 year and have them pay the $65 dues. The motion was approved with 4 dissenters.

2 We will have new badges for this year. Current members who have been instructed on the new field procedures will have orange badges. We request that guest pilots sign in on the Guest binder and get a red badge. Remember to sign in AND sign out at the field. All pilots must be wearing the appropriate badge. The next briefing for members who don't know the new field procedures will be held on Saturday at 10am. It was mentioned that while a few members were flying late in the afternoon, some people arrived that made the club members uncomfortable. The Sheriff arrived and suggested that if strangers such as those come to the field we call the Campus Police immediately. The Bylaws are in need of review and rewrite where necessary. The Board will present the proposed new bylaws at a future meeting. We must find a new location for our field. Chris Spangenberg, and Chris Brashears volunteered to conduct the search. They were on the Board last year and know what was scouted out and why those locations were unsuitable. Robert W. mentioned a new park at Santa Rosa. Since it is located near homes it is only suitable for electrics, sailplanes, and quadcopters. Members who might be interested in flying there signed up so Robert has an idea of how many people are interested. While no formal talks have taken place, it is possible that there will be a $25 fee. Robert Fish brought a classic pattern plane that was built in the '80s. It was an EU1A designed in '79 the airframe was tailored for the engine power. It has an area of 960sq and is 69 long. It weights 10 lb 2oz., and has a Rossi '60 engine with a rear exhaust. He flies it with a Futaba 8. The mixture can be controlled while the plane is flying. A radar gun read the speed to be 120 mph. Robert flies it in the Masters Class in pattern flying. John Gonzales brought a Disney Planes Dusty 7. It has a 89 wingspan and weights 13lbs. The engine is a 32cc DLA. It has flaps and 8 servos. He painted the name of each of his grandsons on the outside. Vinh Quang brought a P-38 Lightning from his factory in Vietnam. It is a twin with a 72 wingspan and can be powered by glo, gas, or electric. He has outfitted his with a 6/10 KV motor. It has fowler flaps for quick descent. Optional electric retracts are available. It weights 15 1/2lbs. Vinh Quang was visiting James Fraser (JB Hobbies) and they were preparing the model for the AMA Expo in Ontario on January 9 through 11. The model will be available from JB Hobbies, hopefully later this month. The time depends on delays in shipping. The meeting was adjourned at 8:30pm Minutes from December were approved. Show and Tell: Nate Rambo had a 1/8 scale Aeronica C2 that went into production in It was the first light plane to be certified by the CAA. He brought pictures of the planes as well as the blueprints. The company widened the fuselage and produced the C3 well into the 1940s. An interesting side note, the original planes were turned by the pilot leaning out of the cockpit and physically turning the wheels. That was remedied quickly. 2

4 Lost and Found: There are three sweat shirts/hoodies/jackets in the club house. Please pick up yours. At the end of January, the clothing will be removed, washed and donated to Good Will. Graffiti at the field: Recently our sheds were marked with graffiti. The University has been repainting to cover up the graffiti and did so in this instance also. Thanks to CSUCI for repainting our sheds. In the future, repainting to cover graffiti will be our responsibility. 4

Tumbleweeds: Tumbleweeds were blowing the 26th and 27th, the last two fly days of 2014. I spent my Saturday morning freeing them from the fence and tables. The seemed happy as the tumbled away.

Robert did the same on the 26th. Wind was good for clearing the tumbleweeds out, not so good for flying. You might want to wear jeans and sturdy shoes to the filed. If you need to make a trip into the field to rescue a plane, you will be happy you did. Carbon fiber fuselage and wings. The model is manufactured by Baudis Models based in Czech Republic Cost of the model is $8, less radio and servos. 15 total servos and 5 separate Lipo packs.
