Pure s composition is designed to optimise purification efficiency and contamination removal, combined with increased flow enhancement characteristics. Pure is designed to be a filter-free wash process with no consumables in the wash stage. Each kilogram of Pure is capable of purifying between litres of biodiesel*, making it the lowest cost drywash biodiesel purification method in existence today. 4 pure TM Treatment towers pure Treatment towers (Stainless Steel) Pure Treatment Towers can be configured to suit all production volumes. Available with 10, 50, 100 and 200 kg Pure holding capacity, our systems are scalable to allow for increased volume production, allowing for continuous production and reduced purification times. As the unwashed biodiesel enters the Pure treatment tower, it passes through a fixed bed of Pure purification media, ensuring the fuel is purified in a single pass removing production residues, fuel contaminants and soaps. Flow rates need to be governed accordingly in order to ensure maximum removal of production residues and soap. With each Kilogram of Pure capable of purifying between litres of biodiesel, the frequency of media replacement is kept to a minimum. Any number of Pure Treatment Towers can be built into system designs, complete with pump, control panel and safety features. 8 pure TM 50kg scaleable systems Eco 4 Dock Wash & Polish systems: Daily Production levels of 43,200-57,600 litres (24 hours) The Treatment towers are wheeled into position alongside the manifold system and locked into position. Using quick release couplings, the towers are connected to the continually rated system. Dirty biodiesel is then pumped into each treatment tower at a pre-set flow rate depending on the number of towers configured. The biodiesel passes through the Pure purification media and through the final polishing system in a single passage of flow and emerges at the other end purified, free of soaps, production residues and moisture. When the long Life Pure media is eventually exhausted, the towers can be rotated and replenished as required. A single 50 kg treatment tower will require replenishing every litres. 9 pure TM life monitoring & quality traceability Pure Monitoring using PC9001 particle counter Using the PC9001 on-line particle counter, biodiesel producers can effectively monitor the residual life of Pure. The particle counts increase as the media approaches exhaustion, allowing for adequate notification for Pure rebedding. This is an excellent way of ensuring that ONLY quality fuel is produced and eliminates the possibility of downstream migration of production residues, moisture and soaps. Pure is a natural and sustainable biodiesel purification media, which boasts one of the lowest purification costs per litre/gallon on the market today. Pure is proven to assist in the attainment of EN/ASTM quality standards. Is Pure similar to Ion Exchange Resin? No, unlike Ion Exchange systems, Pure is an adsorbent technology, which allows for removal of soaps, production residues, residual methanol and moisture from biodiesel. Are the Pure Treatment Towers available loose? Pure Treatment Towers are available loose for producers to configure as they like or as part of an Pure System. What is an Pure System? We do all the work for you. Pumps, control panels, safety features are all configured to achieve maximum media life, production throughput and fuel quality. How do you know when the Pure is exhausted? 12 Quality control Cleanliness levels can be viewed in real time. Fuel cleanliness data can be saved to Excel and archived for total traceability and quality control. What do the particle counts mean and how can they be interpreted into fuel cleanliness? A sample flow is sent to the laser eye chamber, which is representative of overall fuel contamination levels Red: Contamination HIGH signifying unacceptable levels of SOAPS, MOISTURE, PRODUCTION RESIDUES AND SOLID CONTAMINANTS. Amber: Contamination STILL TOO HIGH Green: Fuel cleanliness level ACCEPTABLE It is interesting to note that by reducing the overall contamination levels by a single point eg.29 down to 28, the overall level of contamination is halved. For example, a reading of 29 shows an unacceptably high level of fuel impurity with a reading of 2, By reducing the contamination levels to 28, the impurity level reduces to This trend continues throughout the table. During the fuel purification process, these counts rapidly reduce until acceptable levels of fuel cleanliness are achieved. Readings of 20 or lower display a fuel cleanliness that is acceptable for use. The decimal point readings allow for greater accuracy of fluid cleanliness and allow producers to pinpoint fuel cleanliness levels, compare test results and to take complete control of production quality. 13 Quality control ph testing Another benefit of the pure TM dry wash is that the ph value reduces significantly during the wash and polish stages. Unwashed biodiesel can have a ph count of due to the presence of caustic soda and methanol still present at this stage. Running a vehicle on fuel with a ph count this high will almost certainly result in serious damage to engine components. After the dry wash process, using Filtertechnik s wash systems, and following final polishing using the BD6000, the ph values had dropped to ± neutral 7 as a result of the impurities having been removed. Simple before wash: Unwashed biodiesel: ph at 8.5, settled water still highly contaminated. Biodiesel Water End of Wash test Simple water test: By adding and shaking a small amount of water to a sample bottle containing biodiesel, the water will collect at the base of the bottle and the clarity of the water is a very good indicator of the level of impurities present. This in effect is a mini wet wash. The ph scale can tell if the fuel is more acid or more alkaline. The range of the ph scale is from 0 to 14 from very acidic to very alkaline. A ph of 7 is neutral. A ph less than 7 is acidic and greater than 7 is basic. Each whole ph value below 7 is ten times more acidic than the next higher value. For example, a ph of 4 is ten times more acidic than a ph of 5 and a hundred times (10 X 10) more acidic than a ph of 6. This holds true for ph values above 7, each of which is ten times more alkaline than the next lower whole value. An example would be, a ph of 10 is ten times more alkaline than a ph of 9. ph indication is an excellent test for trending the reduction of contaminants.
