6 Navy Fire Scout VTUAV Program Description 6 Mission: The Fire Scout VTUAV system is designed to provide intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and targeting data to tactical users Platforms: The Fire Scout VTUAV system is designed to operate from all Air Capable Ships Description - A Fire Scout VTUAV System consists of: 3 MQ-8B Fire Scout unmanned rotary wing air vehicles 3 Electro-optical/infra-red /laser designator & range finder modular mission payloads Ground Control Stations (integrated in LCS CIC) incorporating the tactical common data link (TCDL) and tactical control system (TCS) for joint operability 1 Unmanned Common Automatic Recovery Systems (UCARS) 1 talon grid (NATO standard) for shipboard operations Employment: Upon completion of EMD, the Fire Scout VTUAV assets will be fielded on the Navy s Littoral Combat Ships

MQ-8B Fire Flight First flight achieved 18 December 2006 at Webster Field, NAS Patuxent River, MD MQ-8B improvements over RQ-8A include 4 th rotor blade, increased endurance, greater payload to 600lbs. and modular payload architecture Flight testing will continue in Autonomous Ship Landings and MQ-8B First Flight Important Key Program Milestones
