8 Midwest lectric roducts ervice quipment pplication Information Where electrical power enters a building or other structure, the National lectrical ode (N) requires electrical distribution equipment rated as ervice ntrance. uch service equipment usually consists of one main breaker disconnect or space for up to 6 main disconnects. Midwest models meet these N requirements and are listed as service entrance equipment. ervice entrance products are typically utilized on single family residences and mobile homes. dditionally, service entrance for mobile homes is generally located within feet of the mobile home. This location requirement by the N and the common use of underground service feeders, combine to make service entrance on a pedestal the preferred installation method by many park owners. Midwest offers a broad range of pedestal units, factory assembled and wired, with loop feed lugs to reduce installation time and labor expense. Midwest also offers a wide selection of surface units for single family residences and mobile home sites. pecifications and Features Rated for use as service equipment NM 3R weatherproof enclosure 90 galvanized steel construction for superior corrosion protection Durable polyester powder coat finish resists chipping and fading Metered and unmetered construction available up to 0 mps ll-in-one construction available up to 400 mps vailable in surface or pedestal mount construction egregated meter compartment for utility power protection Weather resistant and tamper resistant receptacles Horn bypass comes standard on ringless metered units u/l rated field terminations Factory installed u/l equipment ground lug adlock provision to prevent unauthorized entry ost Models Factory wired on loop feed lugs on 0 mp models Removable post door allows lay in wiring Rolled edges to protect service cable Locking hasp for utility seal on post covers tud terminations available to accept compression type lugs ervice quipment 7

31 Midwest lectric roducts Disconnects

32 Midwest lectric roducts Disconnects pplication Information rticle 440 of the National lectrical ode applies to electric motor-driven air conditioning and refrigerating equipment, and to the branch circuits and controllers for such equipment. It provides for the special considerations necessary for circuits supplying hermetic refrigerant motor-compressors and for any air conditioning and/or refrigerating equipment that is supplied from an individual branch circuit. The National lectric ode Requirements Disconnecting means shall be located within sight from and readily accessible from the air-conditioning or refrigerating equipment. The disconnecting means shall be permitted to be installed on or within the air-conditioning or refrigerating equipment. The disconnecting means shall not be located on panels that are designed to allow access to the air-conditioning or refrigeration equipment or to obscure the equipment nameplates. dditionally, the National lectric ode states that listed or labeled equipment shall be used or installed in accordance with any instructions included in the listing or labeling. Thus, when an equipment s label or instruction specifies circuit breaker protection, rticle 110.3(b) can be met with a branch circuit breaker in the load center while article can most economically be met using a disconnect without overcurrent protection. When an equipment s label or instructions specifies fuse protection, rticle 110.3(b) mandates that fuse(s) must be present in the branch circuit. ince most load centers are of the circuit breaker variety, fuses must be installed elsewhere in the branch circuit. The most economical installation involves combining the fuse protection and disconnecting functions into a single device to be installed per rticle ee illustrations. 40 Midwest lectric roducts Temporary ower pplication Information rior to permanently installing service equipment on a new structure, temporary power is typically installed to support the various construction trades. lectricians that are not familiar with Midwest lectric s ite-ower line usually construct their own temporary power arrangement using a combination of individual outdoor rated components (meter box, load center and multiple receptacles) assembled on a sheet of plywood and anchored to the ground with dimension lumber. While sufficient to do the job, this arrangement is labor intensive, has multiple conduit connections with the potential for water intrusion and is not well protected against unauthorized use. ite-ower temporary power equipment from Midwest lectric combines the metering, circuit protection and power outlet combinations that are required on most construction sites. very unit is delivered to the job site ready to go with factory installed and wired components giving you the assurance needed for a reliable and safe temporary power unit. ll ite-ower enclosures are constructed from heavy-gauge 90 galvanized steel for superior corrosion resistance. The durable polyester powder coat finish resists chipping and fading. The equipment door is designed to protect power cords and plugs and has a padlock provision to guard against unauthorized use or vandalism. 52 Midwest lectric roducts ower Outlets pplication Information ortable equipment requiring electricity continues to increase steadily in both number and variety. This creates the need for conveniently located receptacles to provide power for cord connected equipment. Midwest lectric ower Outlets provide one or more receptacles, with or without overcurrent protection, in a single enclosure, eliminating the need for several separately mounted components while providing maximum protection against weather and normal field use. dditionally, many models also include disconnecting, metering, and/or pedestal mounting functions in a single NM 3R enclosure/assembly. Features and Benefits NM 3R weatherproof construction 90 galvanized steel construction for superior corrosion resistance Durable polyester powder coat finish resists chipping and fading ll in one construction for factory assured terminations Rolled edge door for cord protection over design allows cords to exist while maintaining the NM 3R integrity Wide assortments of concentric knockouts offer flexibility in the installation ll duplexes are listed as weather resistant and tamper resistant as required by N in rticle and adlockable door to help prevent unauthorized access Dead front construction prevents accidental contact with live parts ll components factory wired and assembled ower Outlets U013 U

103 Midwest lectric roducts Transfer witches / ower Inlets 102

104 Midwest lectric roducts Transfer witches pplication Information Midwest lectric heavy duty manual transfer switches help provide reliable transfer of power from the normal utility-supplied source to a standby generator, enabling the user to readily maintain power during utility outages. Use them anywhere an extended outage would result in severe loss, damage or inconvenience. Designed to be operational and switchable at full rated capacity, Midwest lectric transfer switches are available in single- and three-phase configurations at ratings through 600V.
