1 REPORT ON RUBBER BOARD S PATICIPATION IN THE INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION M-PLAS 2011 HELD AT KUALALUMPUR, MALAYSIA 9 TH -12 TH NOVEMBER 2011 PARTICIPANTS: 1. K.G. 2 INTRODUCTION The 5 th international plastics and rubber trade fair for Malaysia was organised at the Kuala Lumpur convention centre Malaysia from 9 th -12 th Nov 2011.The trade fair was organised by Messe Düsseldorf, Asia with support from Malaysia s most prominent trade associations including the Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation, Malaysian Plastic Manufacturer s Association, Malaysian Rubber Export Promotion Council as well as Malaysian Rubber Products Manufacturer s Association. ABOUT M-PLAS 2011 The event was organised at Hall no 4 and 5 of the of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) Malaysia. The event had an exhibitor participation of more than 150 stalls from 20 countries including India and hosts Malaysia and National pavilions from Austria, China, Italy, Malaysia and Singapore. The visitors included participants from across the globe. The fair also showcased extensive product range including machinery, raw materials, auxiliaries and services for the plastic and rubber industries. The event had free business matching service and seminars. As the point of convergence for key industry players in the plastics and rubber industries, M-PLAS 2011 turned out to be an ideal platform for updates on the latest industry news, innovations and developments. This 4-day exhibition brought together leading international manufacturers, suppliers and professionals to be able to explore the opportunities for better business.

3 RUBBER BOARD PARTICIPATION IN M PLAS The participants from the Rubber Board were Sri. KG. Vijaya Kumar, Dy. Rubber Production Commissioner and Sri. S. Mohan Kumar, Marketing Officer. M/S Periyar latex Ltd was provided an opportunity to participate in the trade fair and Sri.S.Arun Kumar, Secretary & General Manager Finance participated. STALL ARRANGEMENTS AND EXIBITS The Rubber Board was allotted Stall No D10 close to the main entrance to hall No.5.The stall was strategically located close to big exhibitors like the PETRONAS and also close to the seminar Hall. The exhibitors were provided furniture, power connection points, safe cabinets etc at the stall. The stall was equipped with the following. Specimen and Samples of all grades of Ribbed Smoked Sheets i.e. RSS IV, RSS 3, RSS 2, RSS 1 and RSS 1X Specimen and Samples of all grades of Indian Standard Natural Rubber (ISNR) i.e. ISNR 5, ISNR 10, ISNR 20, 5L and 3L Specimen and Samples of Single and Double Centrifuged Latex (CENEX 60%) Directory of Major Rubber Exporters from India Posters promoting Indian Brand Natural Rubber Posters explaining different forms of Natural Rubber and its Uses. Brochures on Rubber and Rubber Wood. The Board s Stall attracted large number of visitors from different countries. There were many visitors from Middle East and Africa. It was a very good opportunity to showcase India as a

4 rubber exporting country and the quality of Indian Natural Rubber under the Branding Initiative by the Rubber Board. The participating officers interacted with the visitors and had discussions. The queries were answered in most cases. Where ever further expert opinion was required necessary contacts and references were given. For those visitors interested in buying Indian Natural Rubber, samples and brochures were distributed. TRADE VISITORS AND THEIR INFORMATION BEHAVIOUR There was visitor representation from across the globe. However there were specifically a large number of visitors from Middle East and Africa. Though we had many visitors, the serious discussions were done in 240 cases. However most of the serious visitors had visited us for information on new products, exchange of experience and information and making new business contacts. Very serious visitors capable of being converted to users of Indian Natural Rubber in the future was approximately 50 Nos as listed below. Samples, brochers and contacts were given to them where ever possible. Visiting cards and other contact details were also collected where ever possible.
