Extensive reprogramming requirements will otherwise be necessary. WIRING HARNESSES WILL BE ELECTRICALLY ACTIVE. IT IS THEREFORE NECESSARY TO EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION WHILE EXECUTING THESE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS. FAILURE TO DO SO COULD RESULT IN SEVERE VEHICLE DAMAGE, PERSONAL INJURY, OR DEATH FROM ELECTRICAL SHOCK. Keep the ignition and radio powered OFF through the final test. Application specific MOST notes: Audio Gateway (AGW) is the MOST master that serves as the tuner and amplifier. The Communications Platform (CP) module replaces, and provides the combined function of, the PSE module and Tele Aid module. 2 Read this installation instruction in its entirety. Unpack and compare the installation kit contents against the Parts Information list on page 17. Place the operating guides and customer accessories in the glove box or appropriate storage compartment. Remove the trunk mat. Remove the left liner panel in the trunk secured by a plastic rivet at the top (A, Figure 1) and a T20 Torx fastener at the bottom (B, Figure 1). Figure 1 P Note: Remove the trunk panel by pulling it toward the front of the vehicle and then the center. Pulling out the panel directly toward to center could result in cracking or breaking the plastic trim at the top, rear of the trunkwell lip (Figure 1). 10. Remove the CD changer/car Navigation unit bracket assembly by removing the three 8- mm machine screws (A, Figure 2) and the 8- mm collar nut (B, Figure 2). Figure 2 P Set aside the bracket assembly without disconnecting the connectors at the back (Figure 3). Cut the wire-tie securing the cables to the top of the bracket (A, Figure 3). Remove the foam sleeve from the cable connectors and save it for later use (B, Figure 3). Figure 3 P P-I-82.70/286 January 2004

Identify the cable connector for the: Satellite radio power supply/most (A, Figure 4) Compensator ANTENNA jack (female connector) (B, Figure 4) Compensator PORTABLE jack (male connector) (C, Figure 4) Compensator power supply (D, Figure 4) Figure 4 P Remove the amplifier bracket assembly by removing the two 10-mm collar nuts (Figure 5). 4 Turn over the amplifier bracket assembly on its side to expose the AKG unit (Figure 6). Disconnect the power supply/most cable connector from the AKG unit (A, Figure 6). Remove the AKG unit by removing the Phillips screw (B, Figure 6) and sliding the tab out of the clip (C, Figure 6). Mount the voice control module (VCM) in the place of the removed AKG unit by inserting the VCM tab into the clip (C, Figure 6) and using the previously removed Phillips screw to secure it (B, Figure 6). Connect the power supply/most cable connector (A, Figure 6). Reinstall the amplifier/vcm bracket assembly using the two previously removed 10-mm collar nuts. Note: Be careful not to bend, crush, or chafe electrical cables or MOST cables when reinstalling the amplifier/vcm bracket assembly. Figure 6 P B. 1. Installing the telephone linear compensator Mount the linear compensator to the bracket with three M4 x 8 screws and three M4 nuts (A, Figure 7). Note: When mounting the compensator to the bracket, orient the compensator end with the PORTABLE jack (B, Figure 7) and ANTENNA jack (C, Figure 7) bottom of the bracket. 5 2. 3. In the upper area of the left quarter panel, make sure the hole in the vertical support beam is clear (i.e. nothing wire-tied to it or blocking it) (A, Figure 8). Make sure the foam sleeve covers the conjoined connectors for the backup antenna coaxial cables (B, Figure 8). Figure 8 P Connect the male connector (C, Figure 4) to the linear compensator jack labeled PORTABLE (A, Figure 9). Connect the female connector (B, Figure 4) to the linear compensator jack labeled ANTENNA (B, Figure 9). Figure 9 P Mount the compensator bracket assembly to the upper area of the left quarter panel with a 10-mm machine screw at the top (A, Figure 10) and an 8-mm self-tapping screw at the bottom, right (B, Figure 10). Reinstall the CD changer/car Navigation processor bracket assembly. Slip the foam sleeve saved in Section B, Step 10 over the satellite radio connector (A, Figure 4) and carefully tuck the connector behind the CD changer/car Navigation processor bracket assembly. Securely tuck the foam sleeve covered connectors for the backup antenna coaxial cables behind the vertical support beam (C, Figure 10). Figure 10 P P-I-86.70/286 January

6 C Installing the telephone cradle and holder Open the right, upper compartment of the center console. Remove the mounting tray for the holder by removing the T6 Torx screw from the front (A, Figure 11) and T10 Torx screw from the rear (B, Figure 11) of the tray. Figure 11 P Drill two 5-mm holes in the semi-punched holes on the underside of the mounting tray for the holder (Figure 12). Note: Notice one side has two semi-punched holes; drill the inside semi-punched hole. Figure 12 P P-I-82.70/286 January 2004

7 4. Mount the holder to the mounting tray with two T15 Torx screws inserted from the tray underside, into the threaded holes in the holder underside (Figure 13). Note: Be sure the holder gray release button is facing front. Figure 13 P Open the left, upper compartment of the center console. Remove the two plastic screw covers on the left (A, Figure 14), and the adhesive screw cover on the right (B, Figure 14). Remove the three exposed T10 Torx screws securing the false floor of the Tele Aid button assembly. Note: Be careful not to damage the leather on the right, lower corner of the right compartment cover when removing the false floor. Figure 14 P To avoid scratching the leather console and seat, disconnect the connector from the Tele Aid button assembly and place the false floor in a safe place (Figure 15). 8 Route the coil-cord power and FAKRA connectors through the tube on the compartment floor (A, Figure 16). Lift the front of the female FAKRA connector for the coil-cord out of the clip (B, Figure 16). Remove the FAKRA connector from the clip (C, Figure 16). Figure 16 P Connect the coil-cord power connector to the harness receptacle and push the conjoined connectors into the clip (A, Figure 17). Note: Make sure the connectors snap together and into the clip. Connect the male and female FAKRA connectors and snap the conjoined connectors into the clip (B, Figure 17). Carefully and neatly, route the FAKRA cables so none are pinched or crushed when reinstalling the false floor (Figure 17). Figure 17 P Reconnect the Tele Aid button assembly connector. Reinstall the false floor in reverse order of removal. Reinstall the holder/tray assembly in reverse order of removal and place the cradle in the holder (Figure 18). 9 16. Install the battery insert plate marked FOR USE WITH SLIM BATTERY when using the slim battery (500 mah) with your V60 telephone (Figure 19). Note: The embossed text on the installed battery insert plate must face up as in Figure 19. Figure 19 P Install the battery insert plate marked FOR USE WITH HIGH PERFORMANCE BATTERY when using the high performance battery (800 mah) with your V60 telephone (Figure 20). Note: The embossed text on the installed battery insert plate must face up as in Figure 20. 10 19. Place the cradle in the holder and the telephone in the cradle (Figure 22). Figure 22 P D. 1. Installing the push-to-talk (PTT) lever Remove the plastic plug covering the PTT mounting hole on the right of the steering column by carefully inserting a small flathead screwdriver into the slot and prying it out (Figure 23). Figure 23 P Insert the PTT lever into the mounting hole, rotate it until its grooves interlock with the teeth in the mounting hole, and then push the lever completely into the mounting hole (Figure 24). 11 E Version coding and diagnostic testing Connect Star Diagnosis (SDS) to the vehicle and perform the version coding outlined below. Set the instrument cluster by using path: Control units / Control unit groups / Information and communication / IC / Control unit adaptations / Version coding / Optional equipment Set cellular phone to PRESENT Set the cellular phone in the communications platform by using path: Control units / Information and communication / Audio, Video, Navigation and Telematics / CTEL / Control Unit Adaptations / Read coding & change if necessary / System Configuration / Set Portable Cellular Phone to FITTED / Hit F5 to carry out coding / Hit F3 to transfer coding to module / Hit F2 / Select Yes to restart ring Set the MOST ring configuration to match the diagram on page 12 by using path: Control units / Information and communication / Audio, Video, Navigation and Telematics / AGW / Control Unit Adaptations / Read coding and change if necessary / Specified configuration of MOST components Note: The diagram on page 12 is an example of a MOST ring configuration including all components. Some installations will not include all the components shown in the example. If a component is not present, connect the preceding component to the component following the one not present. 5. Return to the AGW Functions menu. Using path: Actual values / Actual Configuration of MOST components Verify the version coding input above (specified value) matches the actual configuration performed during installation (actual values). If a difference exists, the ring configuration is incorrect and must be disassembled and corrected. NOTICE DO NOT alter the configuration in the diagram to match the vehicle configuration. Failure to have the configuration set as indicated in the diagram on page 12 will result in erroneous system operation and/or intermittent malfunctioning of some or all components. 6. Check the DTC memory of all installed components and the head unit. Any present DTC(s) should be investigated, the source identified, corrected, and the DTC memory cleared. Note: Powering up the newly installed system before version coding will set errors in the MOST ring configuration. Ignore these errors during the initial DTC check. If after clearing the DTC(s) they return in the next step, a configuration error is present that must be located and corrected. 7. Confirm no new DTC(s) exist in the D2B system group. 13 G Final assembly and function testing Program the telephone per S-B-82.70/179A, V60 Portable Telephone Programming. Verify proper telephone, and voice control operation per the following checklist: Telephone Handset dialing is functioning Head unit dialing is functioning Handset incoming/outgoing call audio is clear Hands-free incoming/outgoing audio is clear Automatic memory download is functioning (It may be necessary to store a test number in the telephone handset for this feature to operate.). After automatic download, stored numbers should be available for dialing from the head unit. Verify the telephone mode is available in the ICM Verify operation of the steering wheel controls Voice Control Verify the VCM can be controlled by the PTT lever on the column Verify spoken instructions are functioning with a high recognition rate Verify the VCM can control the telephone 3. Install the left trunk liner panel: a. Work the back edge of the left trunk liner into the rear trim-panel groove. b. Work the left side of the liner into place, making sure the bottom edge locks into the top edge of the amplifier bracket. c. Work the bottom of the liner back into the plastic trim in the rear. d. Work the top of the liner back into the plastic trim in the rear. e. Close the access panel to the tail lamp. f. Replace the screw and cargo net clip at the front bottom edge of the liner. g. Replace the plastic retaining clip at the top of the liner. 4. Reinstall the trunk mat. P-I-86.70/286 January
