If a single intermittent tone is emitted within 100 seconds during system set-up this is indicating that the set-up has been unsuccessful. Ensure that when you are setting the system you avoid walls with features (drainpipes etc.), as this will adversely affect set-up and operation. E. If no tone at all is emitted during the 100-second set-up procedure this indicates that one or more of the sensor eyes are disconnected. F. Following set-up insulate the ends of the blue wire and position in an accessible area for ease of access should you need to re-calibrate the system in the future. G. Cars with rear mounted spare wheels (Jeeps etc.) must be calibrated measuring 50cm from the spare wheel if this is the rear-most part of the car. 1

3 Sensor Location Sensors are to be located as shown in the picture. Mark the bumper with a non-permanent marker. Mark the centre line and carefully measure out and mark points at 200mm each way from the centre line. Measure and mark points 400mm out from inner marks you have just made. This will give you the correct horizontal spacing for the sensor eyes. Inner Sensor Height Measure down 30mm from the centre of the radius of the bumper to give you the correct inner sensor height. Outer Sensor Height Measure and mark a point 35mm down from the centre of the radius of the bumper to give you the correct outer sensor height. When all points are marked stand away from the vehicle and observe the marks you have made. Proceed only when you are entirely satisfied that the points are in the correct location. 3

Drilling Detail All sensor holes must be drilled, firstly with a pilot drill (2mm) and then enlarged to 20mm diameter. We recommend you use a 20mm hole saw and arbour to enlarge the sensor holes.

Once the holes are drilled make a 1mm keyway at the top of the holes to accommodate the locating tab at the top of each sensor. Position the numbered sensor leads in chronological order as shown. Connect the numbered sensor leads to the sensors and fit the rubber seal. Ensure the sensor leads are secured with cable ties behind the bumper. Route the sensor leads in to the car utilising the grommet behind the left rear lamp. 4

Buzzer Mount the buzzer with the selfadhesive pad in the position shown. Route the buzzer wiring down to the ECU and connect it to the port marked BUZ.

5 ECU Mounting Using the self-adhesive pad provided mount the ECU in the left hand side of the boot behind the trim as shown. The numbered sensor leads can now be connected to the ECU in the correct numbered ports. Connect the ECU harness to the ECU. Buzzer Mount the buzzer with the selfadhesive pad in the position shown. Route the buzzer wiring down to the ECU and connect it to the port marked BUZ. ECU Harness Connections Locate the two reverse light wires in the lamp harness shown. Splice and solder the ECU Red wire to the White/Black wire and the Black ECU wire to the Black wire. Insulate both connections. Ensure the Blue set-up wire is cut and insulated. Make sure the blue wires are accessible for future recalibration. Refit all items removed and carry out system test. 5

6 Set-up Procedure This system is pre-programmed and does not require calibration. However, if recalibration is necessary (i.e. if a towbar is fitted) please use this set-up procedure. Confirm all electrical connections are correct prior to reconnecting the battery. Position the vehicle with the rear of the vehicle 50cm away from a wall and exactly parallel to the wall (See front page for details). Connect the ends of the Blue set-up wires (located near the control unit). Turn the ignition on and select reverse gear. A double tone will be emitted followed by a single constant tone (within 100 seconds). Note: If a single intermittent tone or no tone at all is emitted at this point, the set-up has been unsuccessful. Please refer to the notes on page 1 and the fault diagnosis on the following pages. After you hear the single constant tone turn the ignition off. Cut the Blue wire on the ECU harness and insulate the ends. Reversing Aid Operation The reversing aid switches on when reverse gear is selected. As you reverse the vehicle towards an obstacle the system will start to beep. As you get closer to the obstacle the beeps increase in frequency until, at approximately 30cm, the buzzer sounds a constant tone. 6

7 Customer Handover Ensure a member of staff fully explains the operation of the Reversing Aid to the customer and provides the customer with the User Card. 8 System Set-up Failure: Fault Diagnosis Two possible scenarios may occur during set-up, an intermittent tone or no tone at all. Intermittent tone during set-up Following the double tone if the system emits an intermittent tone within the 100-second setup time and not the correct constant tone this is indicating a failure to calibrate. 9 System Operational Failure: Fault Diagnosis Note: If any of the sensor eyes of the ECU are replaced carry out the system set-up again. The system operation appears erratic, when reversing the buzzer sounds intermittently with no obstacles behind the vehicle. The system buzzer emits a constant pulsating beep when reversing. The system is inoperative. 9
