2 TOOLS AND SUPPLIES REQUIRED Socket (8 and 10 mm) Ratchet Phillips screwdriver Snips Marker Ruler File Isopropyl alcohol Shop towel Torque wrench TORQUE CHART Tighten all screws, bolts, and nuts to their specified torque values. Refer to the Service Manual for the torque values of the removed parts. Item N m kgf m Ibf ft 6 mm screw Open the left saddlebag lid as shown. Repeat on the right side. LEFT SADDLEBAG LID 2. Remove the left side cover as shown, and disconnect the negative (-) cable of the battery. 6 mm bolt washer mm SH flange bolt mm flange nut INSTALLATION CAUTION To prevent burns, allow the engine, exhaust system, radiator, etc., to cool before installing the accessory. NOTE: Heat the bonding surfaces with a hair dryer if the ambient air temperature is below 70 F (21 C). The adhesive reaches full strength in 72 hours. Wait at least 24 hours before riding your motorcycle. Disconnect the negative (-) cable from the battery before installing this accessory. The memory of the clock will be erased when you disconnect the battery. Reset the clock after reconnecting the battery. Reinstall the removed parts on the motorcycle and make sure that the wires and harnesses are not pinched. Trim the excess ends off the wire ties after attaching them to the wire harnesses. Do not allow the cut part of the wire tie to interfere with another harness or brake hose. LEFT SIDE COVER 3. Remove the right side cover in the same manner as the left side. 2 of 16

3 4. Remove the seat as shown. Disconnect the connector for GL1800/D/DA. SEAT 6. Remove the left mirror arm panel as shown. BOLT WASHER LEFT MIRROR ARM PANEL 7. Remove the left rear view mirror as shown. 5. Fold down the left rear view mirror backward as shown. LEFT REAR VIEW MIRROR Disconnect the connector. BOLT LEFT REAR VIEW MIRROR 8. Remove the right mirror arm panel and right rear view mirror in the same manner as the left side. 9. Remove the screw as shown. Repeat on the right side. 3 of 16

4 10. Remove the left deflector panel as shown. 13. Remove the clip as shown. LEFT DEFLECTOR PANEL 14. Remove the left middle cowl as shown. 11. Remove the clip as shown. LEFT MIDDLE COWL 12. Remove the left inner cowl as shown. 15. Remove the right deflector panel, right inner cowl and right middle cowl in the same manner as the left side. 16. Remove the parts as shown. Repeat on the right side. COLLAR LEFT INNER COWL 4 of 16

5 17. Remove the 2P black connector as shown. <Right side> 19. Remove the right outer air guide as shown. RIGHT OUTER AIR GUIDE 18. Remove the clip and disconnect the connector as shown. 20. Remove the pocket cable as shown. POCKET CABLE 5 of 16

6 21. Remove the parts as shown. 23. Remove the left foglight cover as shown. 22. Remove the shelter as shown. LEFT FOGLIGHT COVER SHELTER 24. Remove the left lower cowl as shown. LEFT LOWER COWL 25. Remove right foglight cover and right lower cowl in the same manner as the left side. 26. Remove the front lower inner cowl as shown. FRONT LOWER INNER COWL 6 of 16

7 27. Remove the front lower cowl as shown. 29. Clean the surface of the area shown with isopropyl alcohol. LEFT FOGLIGHT COVER COLLAR BOLT FRONT LOWER COWL ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL 28. Cut out the parts of left foglight cover as shown. After cutting, remove any burrs. Repeat on the right side. 30. Attach the cushion as shown. LEFT FOGLIGHT COVER SNIPS LEFT FOGLIGHT COVER CUSHION Remove the adhesive backing before attaching. SNIPS After cutting, finish with a round file. FILE FILE CUSHION 7 of 16

8 31. Attach the cushion to the right foglight cover in the same manner as the left side. 32. Remove the center switch panel as shown. 34. Remove the center console garnish as shown. CENTER SWITCH PANEL Disconnect the connector. CENTER CONSOLE GARNISH CENTER SWITCH PANEL 35. Remove the dummy switch as shown. 33. Remove the right and left center console panels as shown. 9 37. Reinstall the center console garnish, right and left center console panels in the reverse order of removal. 38. Install the center switch panel in the reverse order of removal. 39. Mark the LED foglight harness at the position shown. Perform this step for both foglights. LED FOGLIGHT 42. Loosely install the foglight adjuster as shown. FOGLIGHT ADJUSTER COLLAR MARKER LED FOGLIGHT 6 mm SH FLANGE BOLT (short) <Right side> 80 mm COLLAR LED FOGLIGHT FOGLIGHT ADJUSTER 40. Install the clip at the marked position as shown. Perform this step for both foglights. LED FOGLIGHT LED FOGLIGHT 6 mm SH FLANGE BOLT (short) 43. Insert the grommets as shown. GROMMET MARK (80 mm) LED FOGLIGHT 41. Install the 6 mm nut to the LED foglight as shown. 6 mm NUT LED FOGLIGHT GROMMET LEFT STAY 9 of 16

10 44. Install the flange collars to the left stay as shown. FLANGE COLLAR (small) 46. Secure the foglight adjuster and left stay as shown. To adjust the foglight aiming, loosen the 6 mm bolt washer and 6 mm screws. Align with the top faces of the left stay and foglight adjuster. LEFT STAY LEFT STAY Align with the top face. 45. Loosely install the assembled left stay to the assembled LED foglight as shown. FOGLIGHT ADJUSTER ASSEMBLED LED FOGLIGHT 6 mm BOLT WASHER 6 mm SH FLANGE BOLT (short) Tighten. 6 mm BOLT WASHER WASHER ASSEMBLED LED FOGLIGHT 6 mm LEFT STAY 6 mm Tighten the left and right screws securely. 10 of 16

11 47. Install the flange collars as shown. FLANGE COLLAR (large) 49. Assemble the right LED foglight in the same manner as the left side. 50. Temporarily install the pipe band A and pipe band B as shown. ASSEMBLED LED FOGLIGHT PIPE BAND A PIPE BAND B FLANGE COLLAR (large) 51. Route the left LED foglight harness as shown. 48. 12 52. Install the assembled left LED foglight as shown. 6 mm SH FLANGE BOLT (long) PIPE BAND B 54. Install the pipe band A, pipe band B and assembled right LED foglight in the same manner as the left side. 55. Route the right LED foglight harness as shown. <Right side> 6 mm FLANGE NUT ASSEMBLED LEFT LED FOGLIGHT 6 mm SH FLANGE BOLT (middle) 53. Route the left LED foglight harness as shown. <GL1800BD/D/DA> RIGHT LED FOGLIGHT 56. Remove the dummy connector as shown. <GL1800/B> DUMMY (Save) 12 of 16

13 57. Install the holder clips as shown. 59. Connect the right LED foglight harness as shown. HOLDER RIGHT LED FOGLIGHT SUB HOLDER SUB 58. Connect the sub harness as shown. 60. Secure the right LED foglight harness with the wire tie as shown. WIRE TIE (long) Secure the right LED foglight harness to the frame. RIGHT LED FOGLIGHT SUB 13 of 16

14 61. Secure the connector with the holder clip as shown. 63. Connect the left LED foglight harness as shown. GL1800BD/D/DA HOLDER Secure the connector to the motorcycle s harness. SUB 62. Route and secure the sub harness with the wire tie as shown. SUB GL1800/B SUB WIRE TIE (short) Secure the sub harness to the motorcycle s harness. SUB 14 of 16

15 64. Secure the left LED foglight harness with the wire ties as shown. <GL1800BD/D/DA> 65. Secure the connector with the holder clip as shown. <GL1800BD/D/DA> WIRE TIE (long) Secure the left LED foglight harness to the frame. HOLDER Secure the connector to the motorcycle s harness WIRE TIE (short) Secure the left LED foglight harness to the motorcycle s harness. <GL1800/B> <GL1800/B> WIRE TIE (short) Secure the left LED foglight harness to the motorcycle s harness. WIRE TIE (long) Secure the left LED foglight harness to the frame. HOLDER Secure the connector to the motorcycle s harness 15 of 16

16 66. Secure the sub harness with the wire tie as shown. <GL1800BD/D/DA> AIMING THE FOGLIGHTS 1. Place the motorcycle on a level surface, 5 m (16.4 ft) away from the aiming screen. Turn on the foglights. When the ignition switch is ON and the foglight switch is pressed, the foglights come on. When the foglight switch is pressed again, the foglights are turned off. SUB WIRE TIE (short) Secure the sub harness to the motorcycle s harness. FOGLIGHT SWITCH <GL1800/B> 2. Measure the installed height of the foglight from the floor. 3. Aim the foglights so that the cut-off line of the light pattern on the aiming screen is the same distance above the floor as the foglight installed height. INSTALLED HEIGHT of FOGLIGHT SUB WIRE TIE (short) Secure the sub harness to the motorcycle s harness. 5 m (16.4 ft) 67. Install the motorcycle s parts in the reverse order of removal. Before installing the right and left foglight covers, perform the AIMING THE FOGLIGHTS. Confirm that any wire harness is not caught or too tight. 68. Check the foglight, headlight and the other lights for proper operation. INSTALLED HEIGHT of FOGLIGHT CUT-OFF LINE 16 of 16
