Please conslt factory when applications other than liqid are reqired. Wafer Style Silent Check Valves are designed to close before the pmp stops completely. This prevents flow reversal, which eliminates water hammer and the srges associated with check valve closre. Flly atomatic, spring-loaded and doble-gided, the valve opens as the pmp starts, and closes jst prior to flow reversal pon pmp otage. With a standard cast iron body, bronze seat, disc and bshing, and a stainless steel spring, all internal parts of the Wafer Style Check Valve are field replaceable for ease of maintenance. Resilient seats are highly recommended for potable water or drip tight applications. Materials and Prices Sbject to Change Withot Notice. * The inside diameter of the mating flange mst overlap the valve seat in order to provide proper seat retention. The flange gasket mst be sized to provide a seal between the internal diameter of the valve body and the otside diameter of the seat. 8

3 Wafer Style Silent Check Valve Flow Velocity These valves have a maximm recommended flow velocity of 10 feet per second. In addition, flow crves are based on the flow of clean water at ambient temperatre. Line Placement Preferred piping standards recommend placing check valves to 10 pipe diameters from any trblence prodcing devices (i.e. pmps, elbow, etc.). This installation recommendation shold be followed to prevent increased valve wear or possible damage. Special Maintenance Note: The Wafer Style Silent Check Valve shold never be inspected by only removing the valve inlet flange piping. If this is done, seat damage to the valve or personal injry to the inspector may occr. If the valve mst be serviced, it shold be isolated and the line pressre relieved on both sides of the valve. Painting After testing, each valve is externally painted with a phenolic primer. Cation These valves are not recommended for raw sewage service. Damage to the valve may reslt, if sed with specialty flanges or connectors having fll or partial rbber facing. Conslt the factory for recommendation of valves sed in air, steam, hot water or boiler feed systems. BODY SEATS & DISCS Constrction Featres The body is available in most castable metals. Seats are flat. Cast iron or bronze have bronze seats and discs. Carbon steel or stainless steel bodies have stainless steel seats and discs. RESILIENT The seat can be made to accommodate a resilient srface of SEATS BUNA-N or VITON. This resilient seat mates with the flat metallic srface of the disc. SPRINGS BUSHING 1Valves 2Install Helical constant pitch or conical springs are sed in the Globe or Wafer Style Valves. The valves are designed to crack open at.2psi to.psi. Bshings are bronze when a cast iron or bronze body is reqired, and stainless steel is sed when a carbon steel or stainless steel body is reqired. Installation Instrctions may be installed vertically, horizontally, or at other angles. the valve with proper positioning of the flow arrow. Spport and align adjacent piping and the valve. Install lbricated flange bolts, hand tighten, then torqe the bolts sing the cross-over flange bolt tightening method to load the bolts evenly and eliminate concentrated stresses. 3Valve mst be monted to ANSI cast iron or steel flanges with conventional flat face or ring gaskets. The Mating Flange I.D. mst overlap the valve seat. Proper centering of ring gaskets is important to prevent internal leakage. 4Never lift the valve by the bronze or stainless steel trim.
