1 T&T 416 Date: Service Bulletin: T&T 416 InfoCentral: Subject: This bulletin is available on InfoCentral\NAD\Bulletins\Service Bulletins TriPac APU 3rd Quarter 2006 Changes The following changes have been incorporated in TriPac APU s starting with units manufactured in September The beginning serial number for these changes is 0963TC0291. Removable Body Panels Starting with March 2006 production new body panels were implemented. The new panels are easily to provide access to the internal components for installation and service. The bottom cover is removable to provide easy access when installing connecting refrigerant lines. Two holes have been provided in the TriPac APU right rear frame member for refrigerant line entry. Relocated TriPac Engine On/Off Switch The Engine On/Off Switch has been relocated lower as shown below. This makes the switch easily available through the access door. Engine On/Off Switch Seen from front of TriPac APU with Access Door up Binary Switch Change The Binary Switch has been replaced by a High Pressure Cutout Switch (HPCO) located at the receiver/drier. A Low Pressure Cutout Switch (LPCO) has been installed at the evaporator coil. See the last page of this bulletin for Service Parts numbers.

2 Refrigerant Lines The refrigerant lines now connect directly to the compressor. They enter from the back side of the unit. Two holes have been provided in the TriPac APU right rear frame member to simplify refrigerant line entry. A bracket has been provided to secure the hoses with cable ties as shown below. Refrigerant Line Mounting Bracket Seen from bottom right of TriPac APU with bottom panel Refrigerant lines enter the TriPac APU through the rear frame member in the area shown by the arrow. The refrigerant lines are routed over the circled refrigerant line mounting bracket and connected to the compressor (circled at left). After the refrigerant lines are connected to the compressor they are secured to the refrigerant line mounting bracket using cable ties. The compressor suction fitting is equipped with a restrictor. This is as designed and should not be changed. New Pre-cooler Coil and Frame The pre-cooler coil and coil mounting frame have been modified to allow the relocation of the pre-cooler fan temperature switch. The new pre-cooler coil and frame cannot be interchanged with earlier units. Pre-formed Coolant Hoses The coolant hoses are pre-formed to prevent interference with the frame and body panels. See the last page of this bulletin for Service Parts numbers. 2

3 Pre-cooler Fan Temperature Switch (PCFS) The Pre-cooler Fan Temperature Switch has been relocated to the inlet of the pre-cooler coil and insulated as shown below. As a result, this switch should now remain connected if the Arctic Switch option is installed. Pre-cooler Fan Temperature Switch Seen from top of TriPac APU with top panel High Water Temperature Switch The High Water Temperature Switch has been relocated to the back side of the water pump housing (circled at the right side of picture below). A Coolant Bleed Valve has been relocated to the front of the water pump housing and below the thermostat to aid in bleeding air from the coolant system (circled at left side of picture). High Water Temperature Switch and Bleed Valve Seen from top of TriPac APU with top panel Air Cleaner Bracket A new air cleaner bracket has been installed. This bracket is also used to mount the flywheel sensor and secure the wiring harness. 3

4 Fuel System Changes A new fuel pre-filter has been added and a different fuel pump is used. New Nylon fuel-compatible fuel lines with compression style fittings have been incorporated throughout. See the last page of this bulletin for Service Parts numbers. Fuel Pre-filter (Service Part # ) Seen from left side of TriPac APU with side panel Fuel Pump (Service Part # ) Seen from left side of TriPac APU with side panel Fuel Pickup Tubes The Return Line Tube is now the same length as the Supply Line Tube. When installing the supply line and return line tubes in the fuel tank, spread them apart to pre-form the tubes away from each other. When the tubes are installed in the tank, they should not lie next to each other. This allows the pickup tube to operate in fresh, warm fuel rather than fuel that has just come back from the return line. The Espar heater fuel pickup tube will remain the same but should be cut 1 inch shorter than the others during installation. 4

5 New Alternator The Thermo King alternator is now used on all TriPac units. The alternator features an in-line fuse holder with a 50 A fuse located at the alternator output terminal. The connection studs are stainless steel for improved corrosion resistance. A second in-line fuse holder with a 3 A fuse is located in the SEN wire from the starter terminal to the interface board. See the last page of this bulletin for fuse Service Parts numbers. Weather- Pak and Deutsch connectors have been incorporated and the preheat buzzer location has been changed. 5
