The most likely causes of the malfunction are shown in the order of their probability. Inspect each part in the order shown, and replace the part when it is found to be faulty. 6 BE18 BODY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM COMBINATION SWITCH DISASSEMBLY 1. REMOVE WIRE HARNESS HOLDER NO.1 2. REMOVE WIRE HARNESS HOLDER NO.2 3. REMOVE TERMINALS FROM CONNECTOR (a) Release four tabs and open the terminal cover. (b) From the open end, insert a miniature screwdriver between the locking lug and terminal. (c) Pry down the locking lug with the screwdriver and pull the terminal out from the rear. w/o SRS 2. REMOVE LIGHT CONTROL SWITCH AND LIGHT DIM MER TURN SWITCH UNIT (a) Remove the set plate. (b) Remove two screws and light dimmer turn switch unit. (c) Slide out the light control switch from the switch body with the spring. (d) Remove the roller.
7 BODY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM BE19 3. REMOVE WIPER AND WASHERS SWITCH Remove four screws and the switch form the switch body. w/ SRS 4. REMOVE LIGHT CONTROL SWITCH AND LIGHT DIMMER TURN SWITCH UNIT (a) Remove four screws and the spiral cable from the switch body. (b) Remove two screws and the Lock plate from the switch body. (c) Remove two screws and the ball set plate from the switch body. (d) Remove the ball and side out the switch from the switch body with the spring. (e) Remove two screws and light dimmer turn switch unit. 5. REMOVE WIPER AND WASHERS SWITCH Remove six screws and the switch from the switch body.
8 BE20 BODY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY w/o SRS INSTALL PARTS OF COMBINATION SWITCH IN REVERSE SEQUENCE OF REMOVAL HINT: When installing the light dimmer turn switch unit in the switch body, match up each switch position of the light control switch lever with the corresponding switch position of the light dimmer turn switch unit. After installing the light control switch to the switch body, insure that the switch operates smoothly. COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY w/ SRS INSTALL PARTS OF COMBINATION SWITCH IN REVERSE SEQUENCE OF REMOVAL HINT: When installing the light dimmer turn switch unit in the switch body, match up switch position of the light control switch level with the corresponding switch position of the light dimmer turn switch unit. After installing the light control switch to the switch body, insure that the switch operates smoothly. NOTICE ADJUSTMENT OF SPIRAL CABLE (a) Check that the front wheels are facing straight ahead. (b) Turn the spiral cable counterclockwise by hand until it becomes harder to turn the cable. (c) Then rotate the spiral cable clockwise about 3 turns to align the red mark. HINT: The spiral cable will rotate about 3 turns to either left or right of the center. The connector should be straight up. (d) Install the steering wheel so that the match marks will not be misaligned.

HEADLIGHT CONTROL RELAY HEADLIGHT CONTROL RELAY INSPECTION CONTINUITY w/ Daytime Running Light System w/ Theft Deterrent System Terminal Apply battery positive voltage to terminals 1 and 2. If continuity is not as specified, replace the relay.
10 BE22 BODY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM TAILLIGHT CONTROL RELAY TAILLIGHT CONTROL RELAY INSPECTION CONTINUITY w/ Daytime Running Light System w/ Theft Deterrent System Terminal Apply battery positive voltage to terminals 1 and 2. If continuity is not as specified, replace the relay. HEADLIGHT DIMMER RELAY HEADLIGHT DIMMER RELAY INSPECTION CONTINUITY w/ Daytime Running Light System Terminal Apply battery positive voltage to terminals 2 and 4. If continuity is not as specified, replace the relay.
11 BODY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM BE23 DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT RELAY NO.1 DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT RELAY NO.1 INSPECTION INSPECT DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT RELAY NO.1 (Circuit/Wire Harness Side) Disconnect the connector from relay and inspect the connector on wire harness side as shown. Check for Tester connection 7 Ground Headlight dimmer switch position Low beam or High beam Flash Specified value No continuity 8 Ground Parking brake switch position OFF (Switch pin pushed in) ON (Switch pin released) No continuity 12 Ground 13 Ground 16 Ground Headlight dimmer switch position Low beam High beam or Flash No continuity Voltage 2 Ground 18 Ground Ignition switch position LOCK or ACC 4 Ground 6 Ground 11 Ground Engine Stop Running 15 Ground If circuit is as specified, trying replacing the relay with a new one. If the circuit is not as specified, and inspect the circuits connected to other parts.
12 BE24 BODY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM (Circuit/Connector connected) Connect the wire harness side connector to the relay and inspect wire harness side connector from the back side as shown. Check for Voltage Tester connection 3 Ground 5 Ground 10 Ground 14 Ground 17 Ground * With Light control switch turned to HEAD Light control switch position Light control switch position Light control switch position *Fog light switch position *Headlight dimmer switch position OFF TAIL or HEAD OFF or TAIL HEAD OFF TAIL or HEAD OFF High or Flash Specified value No continuity No continuity If circuit is as specified, trying replacing the relay with a new one. Is circuit is not as specified, inspect the circuits connected to other parts. DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT RELAY No.4 DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT RELAY No.4 INSPECTION CONTINUITY Inspect relay continuity between terminals. Terminal Apply battery positive voltage to terminals 3 and 4. If continuity is not as specified, replace the relay.
13 BODY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM BE25 DAYTIME RESISTOR DAYTIME RESISTOR INSPECTION RESISTANCE Inspect relay continuity between terminals. Tester connection Specified value 12 Approx. 337 m!f resistance is not as specified, replace the resistor. LIGHTSON WARNING SYSTEM 1. INSPECT DOOR COURTESY SWITCH See combination meter on page BE INSPECT LIGHT REMAINDER RELAY (Operation) (a) Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 3 and the negative () lead to terminal 4. (b) Check that the buzzer does not sound when connected terminal 1 or 2 to the positive (+) lead. (c) Check that the buzzer, sounds when disconnecting terminal 1 or 2 from the positive (+) lead. If operation is not as specified, replace the relay. (Relay circuit) Disconnect the connector from the relay and inspect the connector on the wire harness side as shown in the chart.

If circuit is not as specified, inspect the circuits connected to other parts.
