1 BE68 BODY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM TURN SIGNAL AND HAZARD WARNING SYSTEM DESCRIPTION The component parts of this system and their function are as shown in the following table. Parts Name Function Turn Signal Switch Switches current from the turn signal flasher to the left side or right side. Hazard Warning Modifies the circuit to the flasher relay and turn signal switch in accordance with the respective switch positions. Switch Receives current from the hazard warning switch and flashes the turn signal lights by switching the current to the lights ON and Turn Signal Flasher OFF. ÑÑ ÑÑ ÑÑ ÑÑ ÑÑ PARTS LOCATION

3 BE70 BODY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM TROUBLESHOOTING You will find the cause of trouble more easily using the table shown below. In this table, the numbers indicate the order priority of the causes in trouble. Check each part in the order shown. If necessary, replace the parts. See page BE6, 22 BE6, 20 BE 29 BE 72 BE 26, 71 BE 51 BE 8 * : * : Combination Meter, Wiper and Washer do not operate. Combination Meter, Wiper and Washer are normal.
4 BODY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FRONT TURN SIGNAL LIGHT FRONT TURN SIGNAL LIGHT REPLACEMENT (See page BO12) BE71 REAR COMBINATION LIGHT REAR COMBINATION LIGHT REPLACEMENT (See page BO60) COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY (See page BE45) HINT: Inspect turn signal light switch. TURN SIGNAL FLASHER TURN SIGNAL FLASHER INSPECTION INSPECT TURN SIGNAL FLASHER (Operation) (a) Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 2 and the negative () lead to terminal 3. (b) Connect the two turn signal light bulbs parallel to each other to terminals 1 and 3, check that the bulbs flash. HINT: The turn signal lights should flash 60 to 120 times per minute. If one of the front or rear turn signal lights has an open circuit, the number of flashes will be more than 140 per minute. If operation is not as specified, replace the flasher. (Flasher Circuit) (See page BE26)
5 BE72 BODY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM HAZARD WARNING SWITCH HAZARD WARNING SWITCH REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION 1. REMOVE HAZARD WARNING SWITCH (See page BO107) (a) Remove the A/C control panel assembly. (b) Pry loose the two locking lugs and remove the hazard warning switch. 2. INSTALL HAZARD WARNING SWITCH For installation, follow the removal procedure in reverse. HAZARD WARNING SWITCH INSPECTION INSPECT HAZARD WARNING SWITCH (Continuity) Inspect the switch continuity between terminals. If continuity is not as specified, replace the switch. (Switch Circuit) Disconnect the switch connector and inspect the connection on the wire harness side as shown. ÑÑÑÑÑ Check for ÑÑÑÑÑÑÑ Tester connection Condition Specified value ÑÑ 8Ground Ñ LOCK or ACC No voltage 10Ground Ignition switch position ÑÑÑÑÑ Voltage ÑÑÑÑÑÑ ON ÑÑ OFF No voltage * ÑÑ 1 2Ground Light control switch Ñ position TAIL or HEAD ÑÑ * 1 3Ground Continuity ContinuityÑÑÑÑÑÑÑ 5Ground * 2 Continuity ÑÑ 6Ground * 2 Continuity * 1 Illumination * 2 There is resistance because this circuit is grounded through the bulb. If the circuit is not as specified, refer to BE69 wiring diagram and inspect the circuits connected to other parts.
