1 INTRODUCTION ALPHAIR PNEUMATIC ACTUATORS INTERNAL ADJUSTMENT AISI 316 (A4) STAINLESS STEEL APA SERIES Alpha Pompe SPA has been manufacturing high precision pneumatic actuators for over 10 years, for automation of industrial valves. The APA SERIES special line, made of high quality AISI 316 (A4) Stainless Steel, is provided with internal rotation adjustment system, combining great reliability to very interesting technical features. Specific fields of application: Food industry Pharmaceutical Sanitary Cosmetics Enology Marine and offshore plants Corrosive environments APA actuators are accurately engineered thanks to the most advanced CAD drawing systems, in able to simulate the behaviour of these devices along their lifetime, to guarantee best performance and maximum duration. Besides, the well known internal rotation adjustment system assures the complete absence of long time stresses to all main mechanical parts and antifriction pads, for maximum lifetime even in most difficult applications. Production is made using high precision devices, which guarantee best quality features of every single component. According to most recent standards: ISO 5211, DIN 3337, VDI\VDE3845. According to 98\37\CEE Machines Directive. Exclusion from PED 97\83\CEE as for Art Suitable for use in explosive atmosphere according to ATEX. Double lower drilling for valve fastening and centering, according to ISO 5211DIN 3337 Standards. Double square lower female shaft key (starlike), according to ISO 5211DIN 3337 Standards for assembly on valves with square key on line (0 ) and diagonal key (45 ). Solenoid connections according to NAMUR VDI\VDE3845 Standards. Top drilling for accessories fastening, and upper shaft end according to NAMUR VDI\VDE3845 Standards. Position indicator on request, enabling switchbox assembly on top. Aluminium adhesive nameplates, with progressive serial number punched. Lubrication carried out by the manufacturer, guaranteed for min operations. Running test and 100% seal test carried out with electronic equipment and certification of each individual product. Standard execution for temperatures from 20 C to +80 C (optional, special execution for extreme temperatures). According to ATEX949CEE Standard for explosive environnement; STANDARD version actuator: I M2 c Tmax = 95 C and II 2GD c Tmax = 95 C. 3 FEATURES AISI 316 (A4) STAINLESS STEEL APA SERIES ACTUATORS ACTUATOR IDENTIFICATION AISI 316 (A4) Stainless Steel pneumatic actuators are engineered to induce opening and closing of ball and butterfly valves, by means of compressed air feeding. They are provided with interfaces for auxiliary connection according to ISO 5211 standard, DIN 3337 and VDI/VDE 3845 (NAMUR). Every actuator bears an identification nameplate (Fig. 03) that shows: Working pressure, air feeding by dry/lubricated air MAX 8 BAR/120 PSI. Working temperature: follow the indicated field of use. 5 FEATURES AI SERIES=90, AY SERIES=120, AX SERIES=180 Automation industry mainly exploits twoway quarter turn valves, of ball, butterfly and conic pin type, wich require actuators with 90 drive shaft rotation. AI SERIES = 90 AISI 316 (A4) Stainless Steel actuators (shaft rotation 90 ), therefore represent ALPHAIR standard version. Anyhow, for automation of threeway diverting valves, two special actuator series are available: AY SERIES = 120 AISI 316 (A4) Stainless Steel with 120 drive shaft rotation. AX SERIES = 180 AISI 316 (A4) Stainless Steel with 180 drive shaft rotation. For both AISI 316 (A4) Stainless Steel AY and AX series, following sizes are available: APA 042 APA 050 APA 063 APA 075 APA 085 APA 100 Features, identification, construction parts, materials and relevant protections, high\low temperature sparepart sets and use in hazardous environments, are the same as those of standard AI SERIES = 90. Also installation, adjustment and maintenance procedures are identical to those of standard AI SERIES = 90 so, where no special advise is done, all contents of this catalogue refer to the three AI, AY and AX series. Some manufacture differences obviously exist on AY SERIES = 120 and AX SERIES = 180 with respect to AISI 316 (A4) Stainless Steel AI SERIES = 90. Shapes and side dimensions are identical, but the total lenght is bigger. The internal volumes, and related rotating times are higer. Weights are higher. Only the below listed flanges F ISO 5211\DIN 3337 are available. Only the below listed starlike shaft force intakes are available. Only Double Acting DA actuators are available. The output torques are the same as those of standard I SERIES = 90. Spring Return SR actuators are not available. 11 SURFACE FINISHING SURFACE FINISHING The standard surface finishing of AISI 316 (A4) Stainless Steel actuators is ELECTRO POLISHING, suitable for application in general industry where no special care is required. MIRROR POLISHING can be supplied as an optional; it is recommended for use in chemical plants, food industry, pharmaceutical, where the maximum cleaning for hygiene purposes is required. This treatment makes the actuator particularly sleek and bright. L01
