2 IMPORTANT WARNING The Cobra 7928/26/HF Aarm Immobiiser is a Category 1 MIRRC Thatcham isted security system. If the instaation of this product is modified or atered from the standard specifications, or non compiant accessories are fitted, the insurance approva wi be invaidated. User Instructions Congratuations on purchasing a Cobra 7928/26/HF Aarm System. It has been designed and manufactured to the highest standards utiising the atest S.M.D. technoogy for tota reiabiity. A round protection is ensured with:- 1. Passenger compartment protection using utrasonic sensors (7928) or hyperfrequency radar sensors (7928HF). 2. Muti-circuit engine immobiisation - operates immediatey the system is armed, or passivey 60 seconds after ignition is switched OFF and the driver's door opened, or 255 seconds after ignition OFF if the doors are not opened. 3. Periphera protection to doors, boot and bonnet using direct contact switches. 4. Persona protection - remote contro panic' button on radio keys. Many of the security functions are integrated with your vehice's eectrica system and we recommend that you read the compete instruction booket to ensure troube free operation. Aso for your added safety, each system contains circuitry to ensure the aarm cannot be switched on when the vehice's engine is running. 1 Your Cobra Deaer wi be peased to carify any queries you may have with the system or its operation. Even when using your Cobra 7928/26/HF Aarm System we woud suggest the foowing additiona precautions:- Avoid eaving vauabe beongings in the car particuary if they are on view. Never eave Registration or Insurance Documents in the car. Never eave spare keys in the car. Aways try to park in a we it and safe area. PIN Code Each Cobra 7928/26/HF Aarm System has a unique PIN code which can be used for Emergency Disarm and is required, together with one of the emergency override touch keys, for programming repacement or additiona radio keys. Your PIN code is given on the card suppied with your Cobra 7928/26/HF Aarm System together with the seria number of the system itsef. Pease keep this card in a secure pace - not in the car - and aso make a note of these numbers for any second driver s use. Without the PIN code and emergency override touch key no additiona or repacement radio keys can be programmed into the system. 3 Radio Keys The security system is operated by remote contro radio keys. Two radio keys are suppied with each Cobra 7928/26/HF Aarm System. Aways press the button for a fu ONE SECOND to aow the whoe code to be transmitted. The sma LED on the radio key wi fash whist the button is hed down. The Radio Keys shoud normay operate up to 3 metres from the car but range can be affected by other radio signas in the vicinity. Radio Key The Radio Keys are powered by a ong ife 3v Lithium battery (type CR2032 or equivaent). With norma usage a new battery shoud ast between 3 and 5 years. Repacement batteries can be obtained from your Cobra Deaer. Low Radio Key Battery Indication If the sma LED on the radio key fashes irreguary or ony once when the operating key is pressed, instead of fashing continuousy, this indicates a ow battery. Battery Repacement 1. Open the case as shown in the diagram - evering the two sides apart in the area marked OPEN on the key case. 2. Remove the od battery as shown. 3. Wait for 10 seconds before inserting the new battery, ensuring the correct poarity (+ sign upwards) and hoding the battery by the edge. 4. Cose the case firmy making sure ocating studs are correcty positioned to ensure a waterproof sea is made. 5. The remote key shoud now operate normay, but it may require resynchronisation with the main contro unit. Testing the Remote Key & Re-synchronisation If, at any time, the remote key does not operate the system, stand cose to the car and press and hod down both buttons unti the LED on the remote key goes out - approximatey 10 seconds. Reease both buttons - the LED wi come on constanty. Then press button A' for approximatey 1 second - the LED wi fash - this shoud compete resynchronisation. In case of difficuties pease consut your Cobra Deaer. 2

4 Passive Immobiisation The System wi automaticay arm the doube immobiisation 60 seconds after the ignition is switched OFF and the driver's door is opened. If the doors are not opened the deay is extended to 255 seconds after the ignition is switched OFF. The LED wi fash. It wi not now be possibe to start the engine, but in this instance the doors wi not ock and the windows etc. wi not cose. The door trigger circuits and interior sensor do not arm. DRIVING THE VEHICLE To start the engine, ensure the ignition is switched OFF then disarm the immobiiser by pressing button A on the radio key and then switch ON the engine within 255 seconds. To fuy arm the system after passive immobiisation, switch OFF the passive arming by pressing button A on the radio key, then re-arm the system (as described in Arming the System ). Emergency Override Touch Key The emergency override touch key can be used to disarm/ de-immobiise your Cobra 7928/26/HF Aarm System in the event of ost or damaged radio keys. If your car is ocked use your door key to enter the car and touch the Emergency Override Touch Key on the contacts of the touch receptace - this wi disarm and de-immobiise the security system. If the system was fuy armed' the siren wi sound unti disarming has taken pace. The car can then be started in the norma way. Up to four Emergency Override Touch Keys can be programmed into each Cobra 7928/26/HF Aarm System. 3 Additiona/Repacement Radio Keys The radio keys for your Cobra 7928/26/HF Aarm System have a protected sefearning' feature which aows up to four Radio Keys to be programmed into your system by using its unique PIN code in conjunction with the eectronic touch keys. A existing radio keys and touch keys must be re-programmed at the same time as any additiona or repacement keys are being introduced to the system. Your Cobra Deaer wi be abe to carry out this procedure for you. Arming the System Radio Key - pressing the operating button A' wi arm the system, indicated by:- 1. Two fashes of the vehice's hazard ights. 2. Continuous fashing of the LED warning ight. 3. Simutaneous ocking of a doors. Immediatey the aarm unit is switched ON ( armed') the vehice is immobiised. After switching ON ( armed') a period of approximatey 45 seconds wi eapse before the system is fuy active. (This is a setting-up' and test period'). When the aarm is fuy active it wi be triggered by:- 1. Opening a door, boot or bonnet (Direct Contact Switches). 2. Movement within the vehice (Utrasonic). When triggered the Eectronic Siren wi sound at 118dB and the hazard ights wi fash for 30 seconds - at the end of this

5 period the system wi cose down and automaticay re-set to provide protection against a further attempt by an intruder to enter the vehice. Disarming the System On return to the vehice, pressing operating button A' on the radio key wi disarm the system. This is indicated by:- 1. One fash of the hazard warning ights. Note: If the system has been triggered during your absence the hazard ights wi fash 4 times and the buzzer wi sound 4 times. 2. Extinguishing of the LED warning ight - see note. 3. Unocking of a doors. Note: If the aarm has been triggered in your absence a status history' wi be dispayed by the LED warning ight and is indicated as foows:- Singe puse fashing of LED: One aarm state caused by opening of the boot, bonnet or doors. Twin puse fashing of LED: One aarm state triggered by accessory hyperfrequency radar sensors (7928HF). Tripe puse fashing of LED: Aarm state triggered by the utrasonic sensor or optiona gass break (7928). Quadrupe fash repeated reguary: Aarm state caused by an attempt to start the car. Note: This dispay can aso show mutipe triggering and other system diagnostics - pease consut your Cobra deaer in case of any difficuties. This dispay is extinguished when the ignition is turned on. Siren Interrupt Pressing button A' whist the siren is sounding wi turn the siren off. The Aarm System status' - i.e. armed' - wi not be changed. Panic Aarm/ Persona Protection Pressing the auxiiary button B' wi sound the siren for 10 seconds when the aarm system is in the armed' state. Note: This function wi not be operationa during the 40 seconds set-up time required for the system to become fuy active after it has been armed'. Voumetric Protection Excusion Utrasonic Sensor (7928): To arm the system without utiising the Utrasonic interior sensor, press the operating button A' in the norma way then, within 20 seconds, press the auxiiary button B'. This aows a other protection circuits to remain active whist windows can be eft partiay open (for a dog inside the vehice etc.). This command is indicated by a beep' from the siren. Iuminated Entry On disarm the system wi switch ON the courtesy ight for 30 seconds, or unti the ignition is switched ON. 4

6 Troube Shooting Your Cobra 7928/26/HF Aarm System shoud have been instaed by a fuy trained technician. In the unikey event of a probem occurring with it pease contact your suppying/instaing Cobra Deaer for assistance. If this is not immediatey possibe the foowing notes may be of hep:- Symptom: Radio Key wi not arm' or disarm' system. The Radio Key battery may be fat (see notes on Low Battery Indication and Changing Battery). Symptom: The radio key may require re-synchronisation. See Testing the Remote Key and Resynchronisation section. Symptom: Aarm has triggered for no apparent reason. When you disarm' the aarm the diagnostics code wi be dispayed by the LED warning ight. If direct contact triggering is indicated then switches in doors, boot or bonnet may need adjusting - pease consut your Deaer. If showing Utrasonic triggering pease check that a windows, sunroof and air vents are cosed and ensure that there are no oose moving objects (or animas) eft in the vehice. If the probem persists contact your Cobra Deaer for assistance. Checking the Aarm System You shoud check your Cobra 7928/26/HF Aarm System on a reguar basis - once a week is recommended. 1. Direct Contact Check: Arm the system and excude the utrasonic sensors - wait 45 seconds. Opening any of the vehice doors, boot or bonnet wi trigger the system and the siren wi sound. Disarm the system from the radio key and repeat the process for each door, boot and bonnet. 2. Utrasonic Sensor (7928) / Hyperfrequency Radar Sensor (7928HF) Check: Whist remaining seated in the car with doors and windows cosed - Arm the system and wait 45 seconds. Rapid movement of your arms shoud trigger the system. Disarm in the norma way. If at any time your aarm does not appear to be operating correcty pease refer to the Troube Shooting' section or, if in any doubt, contact your suppying/instaing Cobra Deaer. Pt. No A Rev. 06/01
