2 Audi Allroad - Shooting brake estate reprises how Audi previewed the last generation of TT - Features the new TT s interior - Allroad body style suggests more niche variants to come Audi executives suggested that the Allroad Shooting Brake Concept was a preview of the new TT, due to land at Paris Auto Show The TT design cues: rear lamps, fuel cap, shoulder line, hood shut line, all point to this car showing exactly what the next TT will look like, just without the Allroad lower body cladding and the estate car roofline. The interior is certainly the next TT (it was shown at CES 2014) and is a much greater step forward. The center display is jettisoned, while the gauge pack is fully digital. Meanwhile the air conditioning controls are relocated to the air vents themselves. The allroad billing and e-tron powertrain suggests the next TT may gain more variants during its lifetime than the last two generations of the car. - Shooting brake body style leads to a more conventional coupe - Interior is a big departure; full digital gauge display, fan/heat controlled from within vents - Rear lamps evolve, likely to become a new TT signature

3 Toyota FT-1 - Designed for Playstation GT6 game, with downloads of the car available for the game on day of unveil - Points to a future Toyota sports car, possibly a Supra replacement Designed by Toyota s CALTY design facility on the US West Coast, the FT-1 was the only genuine surprise at the Detroit auto show. A traditional, reardrive sport coupe format with proportions to match, the main surprising aspect of this car is the surface language which departs from recent Toyota concepts, moving towards the group s upmarket Lexus brand. A full interior was shown, featuring an impressive mix of holographic and heads-up display, with race-car style steering wheel buttons. The car was designed superficially for the Playstation GT6 game, in an attempt to engage and excite youngsters with the brand. - F1-like nose ahead of plexi-glass bonnet cutout showing engine - Cockpit very digital, with heads-up and 3-D displays

4 Kia GT4 Stinger - Designed at Kia s California studios - Previews Korean brand s intent to build a rear-wheel drive coupe with a sportier image The GT4 Stinger is a pure concept vision of a potential future Kia sports car. Unlike the tie-ups between car brands and Playstation, the GT4 simply stands for Gran Turismo, with the 4 denoting the number of seats. The design has a pure, unadorned quality with refined surfacing that differs to the more discontinuous, over-designed trend seen on other cars at the show. The detailing is of note with cutouts in the A-pillar and an extruded block to denote the name. The biggest exterior surprise was in the face, where the upright, separated lamps are a clear step away from previous Kia tiger-nose designs. The interior has a sparse, reduced quality; the air vents, similar to the Audi TT, also contain controls for the fan speed and heat settings. - Cutout in A-pillar reprises an idea shown in a past Volvo concept - Numerous details and design departures for Kia backlit badging is key point of intrigue

5 Volvo Concept XC - Second in a series of three new Volvo concepts - High-riding, three-door crossover is at once familiar and unique Similar front end to the Concept Coupe shown at Frankfurt 2013, but detailing and graphics are much more off-road in their rendering. The second in a series of three concepts developed under Volvo s new design director, Thomas Ingenlath, the Concept XC represents a more classic Volvo design style than Frankfurt s Concept Coupe. It gives some clues to the production XC90 due to be unveiled in Paris, but its typology of a high-riding, three-door estate/hatch is relatively unique. The detailing and graphics rendered in white with matt grey and flashes of orange lead from a tie-up with Swedish outdoor gear manufacturer, POC. The car won two awards from the prestigious Eyes On Design Awards in Detroit, including best concept car. - Interior shown separately, joint development with POC - Matt grey lower body material dominated and features on grille

6 Nissan Sport Sedan Concept - Shows an aggressive, coupe-like evolution of the sport sedan - Exhibits much of the over-designed trend on show in Detroit The Sport Sedan Concept divided opinion at Detroit. Representing a relatively standard sedan in its format, it nonetheless evolves Nissan s offering with a much more coupe-like roofline. Detailing and surfacing is more expressive than cars that have gone before. The face of the car shows further evidence of Nissan s desire to establish a more corporate graphic, with the enlarged badge placed within a V-shaped grille, flanked by boomerang lamps. The core exterior highlight is the discontinuous surfacing. Inside, the car features an interior which evolves themes seen in last year s Resonance holographic and 3Dstyle infotainment displays, but with carbon-fiber and diamond-shaped trim finishes more befitting of a sports-orientated sedan. - Interior features similar two-tone color scheme as last year s Resonance SUV - HMI display and door card details are highlights - Boomerang lamps and split-away C-pillar emerge as Nissan design signatures
