The first genuine dual-purpose wagon. CARGOS celebrates its 50th anniversary in More than 50 years ago, the first loader wagon left what was then the Bautz factory based in Bad Saulgau. For many farms at the end of the 1960s, the Bautz AUTONOM represented the start of mechanised forage making. CLAAS acquired the factory in 1969, along with the product portfolio. Since then, both the product range and the location have been steadily expanded. Since 2013, for example, CLAAS Saulgau GmbH boasts one of the most modern product development centres in the industry. The CLAAS SPRINT was developed as an efficient silage wagon at the start of the 1980s. The QUANTUM, which was introduced in 1998, also set new standards. Since a farm s profitability depends largely on the capacity utilisation of its machines, from 2007 CLAAS focused intensively on the concept of a dual-purpose wagon that would increase the annual service life of the wagons. The CARGOS 9000 was introduced in Five years later, it was followed by the launch of the smaller CARGOS 8000 model series with many innovative features. The expansion of the product range in the dual-purpose wagon segment with the CARGOS 8000 was a resounding success. By removing the loading assembly and the metering rollers, the CARGOS can be converted from a loading wagon to a sturdy forage transport wagon in no time. 5 Ideal crop flow. EFFICIENT FEEDING SYSTEM EFS easy on the forage. With its EFFICIENT FEEDING SYSTEM (EFS) crop flow concept, the CARGOS is the perfect partner for green forage harvesting. With EFS, the pick-up, rotor and the scraper floor, which is angled upwards towards the loading bay, all work hand in hand. The 500-mm angle of the scraper floor delivers the crop directly to the loading bay after chopping, with no need for a steep and narrow loading channel above the rotor. This markedly reduces the power required for loading. The result: a lightweight and nimble machine with low fuel consumption. Thanks to the angle between the scraper floor and the loading bay interior, the material is compressed and the loading quantity per cubic metre increased. The forage remains in an almost upright position and is pushed towards the rear of the wagon as a single mass, allowing an increase of up to 15 percent in the load. Top forage quality. The rotor s 22-mm-wide feed fins deliver the harvested crop to the loading bay with a maximum degree of protection. In combination with the adjustable automated loading system, optimal loading and a high forage quality are achieved even when processing wet material. Horizontal loading position. This increases the throughput performance, while reducing the power requirement. The result: the load on the axles and brakes is evenly spread, increasing their service life. 8 9

6 Creating space. EFFICIENT FEEDING SYSTEM Built for the long haul. The solid construction provides the required stability in the field. The frame has a C-profile with a height of 300 mm, along with solid uprights and side walls made from high-strength steel. The side end plates feature an additional perforation in the upper section, ensuring a clear view into the wagon during use as a forage transport wagon. The scraper floor. For optimum unloading, the scraper floor can be hydraulically swung upwards towards the horizontal, and to provide the best possible access to the loading assembly for cleaning and maintenance work, for example can also be swivelled downwards by 90. To facilitate loading, the scraper floor is lowered by 500 mm, ensuring an ideal crop flow in the EFS. The crop is delivered directly to the loading bay from the rotor. This reduces fuel consumption, while at the same time protecting the crop

The CARGOS chopper housing is uncoupled from the blade holders and is connected as standard to the chassis with attachment clips and bolts. When changing knives, the blade holders can be swung out from the chopper housing. Pick-up. Rotor with individual tine segments. Hydraulically folding. The pick-up is controlled on both sides and features a 2.0- metre working width and five rows of tines. It can take in large quantities of material with a minimum power requirement, and ensures an ideal crop flow. Thanks to the small diameter, it can transfer even wet and short-cut material efficiently to the rotor via 13 small transition plates. The speed is also lower than in an uncontrolled pick-up, ensuring that the forage stays clean. The hydraulic drive system is activated by load sensing, and is maintenance-free. The smooth start-up movement also protects the pick-up components. On request, the pick-up can be equipped with hydraulic suspension and a height-adjustable centre guide roller. This guarantees optimal ground-contour following, especially in damp conditions, protecting both the pick-up and the grass cover. The low-positioned rotor with nine rows of tines arranged in a helix formation and 22-mm-wide conveying fins guarantees optimum chop quality and transports the forage gently into the loading bay. Its 860-mm diameter ensures quiet operation and protects the drive train against load peaks. The rotor is set in motion by a bolted drive stub with a large spur gear. The tines are fitted on the rotor casing in three segments and bolted together. If necessary, individual tine segments can be simply and inexpensively replaced. The hydraulic lowering chopper housing, with a locking mechanism that can be operated from the side of the wagon, is available as an option. This further simplifies access for cleaning and maintenance operations. Sturdy roller scrapers. Wear-resistant Hardox strippers are mounted in sets of four on the adjustable stripper box. Protect both soil and forage while loading. Top forage quality. With the optional hydraulic pick-up suspension, the pick-up glides gently over the ground, ensuring that the forage stays clean even on undulating terrain. The 40 knives can be conveniently turned over in the course of a long working day, ensuring optimum chop quality with minimum maintenance. All the knives are individually protected against damage from foreign objects and feature an automatic blade return function. The sensitivity of the knife engagement can be adjusted to suit different operating conditions, thereby protecting the knives. If required, they can be folded away hydraulically. With blade holders that pivot out hydraulically and a scraper floor that swivels 90 downwards, the new CARGOS dualpurpose wagon offers optimum accessibility. The knives are adequately cooled throughout the grinding process to prevent overheating and the resulting loss of hardness. AQUA NON STOP COMFORT is the first fully automatic wet grinding device for loader wagons and baler knives. The knives are ground irrespective of the degree of wear, not according to a fixed radius, but exactly along their individual contours. The device processes up to 52 knives per batch. 10 Loading the smart way. Loading Functional structure. Stability is particularly important for operations in chopping or wood chip production mode. Made from 3-mm-thick, hot-dipgalvanised steel, the scraper floor is extremely sturdy. Metal guide strips and heavy-duty, corrosion-resistant scraper floor chains push the material towards the rear. Maximum efficiency and reduction of driver workload. Available on all CARGOS 9000 and CARGOS 8000 models: the unique automatic articulating drawbar control, and the automated blockage clearance that was awarded the DLG silver prize at Agritechnica The mechanical chain tensioning ensures the required tensioning force is available at all times. If required, the bolted scraper floor rails can be easily replaced. For even better crop flow, the front grilles are angled backwards by 5. Generously sized slits ensure the driver enjoys optimum visibility. Optimised unloading. The CARGOS is equipped with either a rigid front plate or a filling flap that can be folded forwards hydraulically by 90. The flap has an additional comb to prevent any forage losses during operation as a loader wagon. And during chopping or harvesting operations, it can be pivoted forward to provide plenty of free space. The filling flap is also equipped with an integrated, adaptive automatic loading function: an angle sensor identifies the deflection of the filling flap and activates the scraper floor accordingly. The hydraulic pre-tensioning pressure which activates the flap angling can be individually set. An additional load-sensing bolt on the rotor drive, recording the torque, is optionally available. The combination of these two sensors guarantees optimum filling of the wagon and the full use of the loading volume. As an option, different positions can be set for automatic actuation of the articulating drawbar in either load, transport or headland modes. In addition, an automatic articulating drawbar is optionally available for all CARGOS dual-purpose wagons. Active regulation of the articulating drawbar in load mode ensures there is always enough space between drawbar, rotor and pick-up, and therefore ideal crop flow, even on undulating terrain. This reduces the driver's workload, increases throughput and reduces the strain on the pick-up. Clear blockages. In the event of a blockage, the chopper housing lowers automatically and the blade holders are extended. An acoustic signal alerts the driver to the need to stop the vehicle. The driver can then manually activate the drive shaft and the chopper housing and blade holders return to their working position. Using all of the volume. In wagons with metering rollers, a sensor on the lower roller triggers the full signal and limit switch disengaging the scraper floor. On wagons without metering rollers, this function is performed by a sensor on the tailgate locking mechanism. An optionally available ultrasonic sensor can measure the distance between the crop and the tailgate. When the full signal is sent via the control terminal, the scraper floor is switched off automatically. The automatic articulating drawbar control allows you to load cleanly on hilly terrain. 11 Efficient clamp operations. Discharging Rapid unloading. Metering rollers. The hydraulic scraper floor drive system, safely integrated in the C-profile, is available in one or two-speed versions in the 8000 and 700 models. In the CARGOS 9000 and 700, it is driven on both sides. The continuous drive shaft is supported in the middle to ensure a reliable discharge operation, even with heavy loads. In unloading mode, the scraper floor can be pivoted up into a horizontal position to allow fast discharge with no residue. All CARGOS dual-purpose wagons have a wide-opening tailgate with an adjustable opening angle. To allow full use of the available performance capacity of the metering rollers, the discharge speed can be individually increased at the first scraper floor speed level. The discharge process is further assisted by the tapered body configuration, opening 5.0 cm to the rear. Installing the metering rollers is simplicity itself, thanks to the dual-purpose wagon's modular design. The optional metering roller module comprises three metering rollers in the dualpurpose wagon and two metering rollers in the CARGOS 700 harvest transport wagon, along with the complete drive train from the main transmission. The metering rollers are equipped with ultra-strong tines arranged in a helix formation, and have a diameter of 460 mm. Their role is to ensure optimum unloading and forage distribution. With the metering roller module, you have the option of torquecontrolled unloading. The scraper floor speed is gradually reduced when a set speed is exceeded on the drive train of the metering rollers. This speeds up the unloading process and reduces the driver's workload. When the metering rollers are not required, the module can be removed in just 15 minutes. This further increases discharge speed and boosts the payload by 0.5 tonnes. Insert sheets are used to seal the holes. Quality assurance. With the crab steering option in the XERION, you can achieve outstanding material density in the clamp in high-performance harvest chains even in the tricky field edges

12 Flexibility required. Conversion to a forage transport wagon Exclusive to CLAAS the removable loading assembly. The complete loading and cutting assembly is easily removed or installed in about 20 minutes. This helps to protect the components during chopping, and boosts payload by 2.5 tonnes. It also makes the loading assembly easy to clean and maintain. The entire loading assembly is fastened to the chassis with just two screw connections on both the left and right sides. The only other connections involved in installation and removal operations are the hydraulic lines, the spiral tooth clutch of the drive line and the electronic connections. All assembly settings remain in place. An optional storage frame is available for removal of the assembly. Removing the assembly also makes cleaning and maintenance procedures easier. 13 Efficient operation, for less stress on the driver. Operation Focusing on the essentials. The CARGOS can be operated with the new tablet app, EASY on board, the OPERATOR, COMMUNICATOR or any other ISOBUS terminal. To ease the driver's workload, a wide range of automatic functions can be assigned via ISOBUS to the tractor keys as AUX functions. An intuitive menu navigation system makes the CARGOS easy to operate, and provides a comprehensive overview of all key work and performance data at all times. Loading volume how much will it take? The integrated documentation system is a real bonus for contractors and for multi-farm use. The direct in-field weight measurement technology is also ideal for farmers who like to keep a close eye on the comparative productivity of different areas of their farm. In combination with hydraulic suspension axles, all models can also be fitted with a load weight indicator. Total weight and payload weight are displayed to an accuracy of within +/-1%. An optional external display shows the current net payload on the outside of the wagon. This function can be switched on or off via the terminal, allowing, for example, the forage harvester's yield measurement to be counter-calibrated simply and conveniently in the field. OPERATOR. Ergonomic control terminal with large display and illuminated keys. Order printer for contractors. COMMUNICATOR II. EASY on board. Thanks to the optional order printer, notebooks and pens are no longer needed. Job-related details such as the number of loads, times and net tonnage (in combination with the load weight display) can be printed out via the terminal. This enables you to issue the customer with a delivery note at any time. Intuitive user interface for the simple control of all functions with the order printer, all the details can be printed out directly. 1 Further data are readily available via a tablet (e.g. weather information, s, calendar, operating statistics, field data file). 2 Flexible: use of an existing tablet (ipad 3), with simple, self-explanatory touchscreen operation. Using the new CLAAS app, all ISOBUS-compatible machines can now be conveniently controlled from a tablet, the only requirement being an ISOBUS tractor. The attached implements can be easily operated using the touchscreen. For even greater convenience, various functions can be assigned to the F keys (auxiliaries) as with any other ISOBUS terminal. One advantage of this is that customers can use their existing tablet as a machine terminal, giving them a highly flexible, portable solution for a range of other applications. With online access, for example, a contractor can query all the relevant information directly on the field. Operation with a tablet is both convenient and very reliable. A USB interface ensures fast and reliable tablet power supply for long days in the field. The clarity of the cab layout has also been enhanced and a practical tablet holder bracket is included. The trend is towards providing a terminal not for the machine, but for the driver: a tablet provides access to all the key machine data, as well as comprehensive personal information. 3 WLAN connection via wireless interface: easy, fast tablet-machine connection

14 Work right through the night. Lighting Lighting package for working at night. For working at night, an optional lighting package is available for the CARGOS models. Up to 11 LED work lights turn night into day. The lighting system ensures full visibility of all critical points. Two LED work lights recessed in the drawbar provide effective lighting for the pick-up and crop flow. Another LED work light on the chopper housing makes knife changing a quick and easy task, even at night. The loading bay interior is also equipped with two LED work lights, and for safe all-round visibility there are two LED headlights on the mudguards and another four on the left and right sides. The headlights switch on automatically when an unloading operation starts, and also when combined with ISOBUS when the vehicle is put into reverse. Enhanced safety. In the CARGOS 700, there is no lighting for the loading assembly, but instead LED headlights for the front axle. This is especially useful when negotiating narrow yard entrances, for example. The full picture. The PROFI CAM 3 rear-view camera provides a full view of what is happening behind the wagon. The 7" screen can display up to four camera perspectives simultaneously

For maximum stability and manoeuvrability, the CARGOS models are fitted with a robust slimline drawbar with a wide pick-up on the crossbar. The dual-purpose wagon is fitted as standard equipment with a bottom hitching device with a permitted drawbar load of 3.0 tonnes. For a higher permissible gross weight, the tandem models can be optionally equipped with a drawbar with a permitted load of 4.0 tonnes. In the tridem models, the permissible gross weight is always 4.0 tonnes. Sprung drawbar. For optimum comfort on the road or in the field, drawbar suspension with two accumulators is available as an option for the CARGOS 700. In the CARGOS 9000 and 8000 models, it is included as standard. To ensure reliable lift under load, even when running over the silage clamp or in steep field entries and exits, large-size drawbar lift rams are installed in all CARGOS models. CARGOS machines are fitted as standard with a double wideangle drive shaft, which on the machine side drives through a 1,800-Nm, cam-type overload clutch on the CARGOS 8000 and 2,000 Nm in the CARGOS 9000, effectively protecting the drive components even at the highest throughput rates. The drive shaft transfers the drive force to the generously sized main transmission, which is attached to the spur gear of the rotor, operating in an oil bath. This construction greatly simplifies the coupling operation when removing or installing the loading assembly. The metering rollers are driven via a bevel gear with integrated clutch. Overload protection for the metering rollers takes the form of a cam-type overload clutch. Firmly attached. Depending on the market, the wagons are delivered with either a hitching ring or the low-wear Scharmüller K80 ball coupling. Tidy parking. To keep the working space clean and tidy, the wagon has a new robust sealed hose support with a protected horizontal holder for all hoses and plug-in connectors, ensuring everything is clearly arranged at all times. 16 To meet every demand. Running gear and tyres The CLAAS chassis. Tyres. The exclusive CLAAS chassis design is based on a modular bolted frame construction, with significant weight savings in comparison with conventional axle assemblies. A choice of mechanical suspension with parabolic springs or a hydraulically suspended chassis is available. Thanks to the modular design, some tandem axle models can have axle loads of 18 or 20 tonnes, or with tridem axles as much as 27 or 30 tonnes. The two largest models, the CARGOS 9600 and 760, are available only with tridem running gear. There is a wide range of tyres available to equip the CARGOS for all operating conditions, according to the particular variant and requirements, with sizes of 22.5", 26.5" or 30.5". Smaller tyres provide a very low centre of gravity, giving maximum stability on steep hilly terrain, while large-size 26.5" or 30.5" tyres ensure optimum trailing characteristics, particularly on wet ground

17 A generous footprint and speeds of up to 60 km/h. Steering axle Tridem with offset steering. Individual tyre sizes up to 30.5". Steered trailing axle. Depending on the particular model, a steered trailing axle that can be locked via the operating terminal is available for tandem and tridem axle models. When operated with ISOBUS, the ride comfort of this entry-level variant can be further enhanced. The trailing axles can then be automatically locked above a particular speed, or when reversing. Silver medal for steering dynamics. A CLAAS exclusive for models with comfort hydraulics an electrohydraulic positive steering system with adaptive articulation angle warning and speed-dependent adjustment of the steering line. This ensures steering behaviour is adjusted fully automatically to the driving situation at all times. The system always chooses the best compromise between manoeuvrability and stability. This innovation was awarded a silver medal at Agritechnica in With the electrohydraulic positive steering, the CARGOS can be operated in full crab steering mode. Having the steering of the first and third axles in the same direction allows particular manoeuvres in special situations. For example, the driver can drive away from the wall in the clamp and counteract the drift on the slope. The roll-over area can be temporarily increased in wet areas. A maximum-size contact area is easy on your wallet and on the soil: for example, thanks to improved roll-off and roll-over behaviour with the 30.5" tyres, you save fuel during loading operations and on road trips. The 30.5" tyres are available on all models except the CARGOS When negotiating tight curves, the articulation angle warning assist sounds an acoustic alarm to warn the driver before any collision between the tractor and the trailer drawbar. This allows full use to be made of the combination's manoeuvrability, and also makes the CARGOS ideal for regions with small fields and narrow accessways. Maximum steering lock. Lift axle. Tight turning manoeuvres are possible with both the steered trailing tridem axle and the electrohydraulic positive steering. This gives you maximum flexibility in tight spaces with all of the CARGOS models. In tridem axle assemblies with hydraulic compensation, the front axle is optionally available as a lift axle. This reduces both tyre wear and fuel consumption. Traction can also be increased when required by increasing the weight on the rear tractor axle. CLAAS was awarded another silver medal at Agritechnica 2013 for the optimisation of an electrohydraulic positive steering system for trailer axles. Choice of approval for 40 or 60 km/h for all CARGOS 9000 and 8000 models

With TELEMATICS for the CARGOS dual-purpose wagon, CLAAS also offers intelligent systems in the forage harvesting segment to optimise harvesting processes and achieve greater capacity utilisation for machines. With the help of innovative software and electronics solutions, you get the most out of your machinery, and can make efficient use of the high performance available from the complex heavy-duty machines. An important prerequisite for this is active communication between the attached equipment and the tractor. Via TELEMATICS, all of the recorded operating data, such as working time, weights or the number of loads, are directly processed, saved and evaluated at the PC. This also helps to optimise harvesting processes and ensures maximum capacity utilisation for the machines

Contractor Jens Breuer helps some 20 customers in the Voreifel region with his CARGOS 9600 and 9500 machines. He chose the electrohydraulic positive steering option, because he travels by road a lot and there are a number of narrow roads in this area. The ideal partner for the family-run farm. The feedback is all good. The Hess family runs a family farm that is typical for the region, with a herd of 80 dairy cows. Using the CARGOS 8400 and an AXION 650, they harvest 55 ha of their own grassland as well as their neighbour s fields. A dual-purpose wagon is also used for the maize harvest. Annette (23) usually operates the CARGOS. She has already brought in around 200 of the 250 loads so far. The land lies within a radius of approximately 10 km, so it was important to have sufficient volume: You save quite a bit of transport time, thanks to the good unloading performance. A tandem chassis was selected with hydraulic suspension, 26.5" tyres, and electrohydraulic positive steering. The positive steering was important for us because there are some very narrow sections on our farm. There are places where, if you didn't have it, you would manoeuvre yourself into a dead end, but with the CARGOS it s very simple to get out of tight spaces, says Annette Hess. Apart from the excellent ride comfort and simplicity of operation with the COMMUNICATOR II, the Hess family is very satisfied with the load capacity. They would choose a CARGOS again any day. The company Kohler GbR operates a biogas plant with an output of 500 kw, and also manages a herd of 120 dairy cows. Since May 2015, it has been using a CARGOS 8500 as a loading wagon during grass harvesting, either as an addition to the harvesting chain on smaller parcels, or as a harvest transport wagon. In addition to around 15 ha of agricultural grass and 60 ha of maize, it harvests approximately 105 ha of grassland on average. Heinz Kohler, one of the two managing directors, and the usual driver of the wagon, is very pleased with the tridem chassis with hydraulic suspension. Despite its size, the CARGOS is pleasant to drive and also extremely manoeuvrable, thanks to the electrohydraulic positive steering. Further arguments for the purchase included the pick-up controlled on both sides with hydraulic suspension, and the loading assembly with the sturdy twin knives. The contractor was able to take 80 loads without turning the knives round once, or having to sharpen them. Especially when cleaning, he appreciates being able to fold down the scraper floor, and the ease of access to the chopper housing. Heinz Kohler also finds operation via ISOBUS and the different automatic functions (e.g. torque-controlled loading) extremely convenient. On the family's farm in East Friesland, forage for 150 dairy cows and their female offspring is grown over an area of 98 ha. Jan and Dirk-Bernd Meinders are seeking to achieve "minimal forage contamination and optimum efficiency". The technology behind the DISCO, VOLTO and LINER machines for harvesting grass silage has helped them achieve this aim from the word go. For many years, they had used their own loader wagon, but in 2015 they replaced it with the CARGOS They were instantly impressed by the increased efficiency and excellent forage quality in a year with exceptionally good yields. The reason for this was firstly the increased load volume (35.5 m³ instead of 30 m³ previously), but also the much higher density, helped by the lowered scraper floor. Apart from narrow country lanes lined with trees on each side, moorland poses the biggest challenge for a loading wagon. Thanks to its compact construction, the CARGOS 8400 stands out thanks to its manoeuvrability. The 800/45 R 26.5 tyre size was selected from the wide range available as best suited for the location. Jan and Dirk-Bernd Meinders were also pleasantly surprised by the CLAAS twin knives, in terms of both service life and handling. It is possible bring in an entire harvest (more than 70 wagons) using just one side of the knives. When necessary, the knives can be sharpened by their local CLAAS distributor using AQUA NON STOP COMFORT. For Menno Poppink, who looks after the fleet of a large agricultural contractor, what counts most of all is what his customers think: "If they're happy, then so are we." "Loading takes next to no time at all, the chop quality is outstanding and it's easy to operate with the COMMUNICATOR II. Word is naturally getting around about how clean and efficient the CARGOS is", says Poppink. He uses AQUA NON STOP COMFORT to sharpen the knives, and they just about sharpen themselves.the knives are turned every loads, and then sharpened after the next loads. All models are equipped with a tandem chassis with mechanical suspension. The power of the towing tractors (ARION 650 and 640) is perfectly adequate for the relatively level ground in the Netherlands

24 Reliability you can count on. CARGOS 700 The body. The scraper floor. The 300-mm-high C-profile and the stable floor in the CARGOS 700 models ensure maximum stability. As a result, all models are approved for wood chip transport. This gives the CARGOS an unrivalled level of reliability, both on long road trips and over rough terrain. The steel floor is hot-dip galvanised, and therefore corrosionresistant and extremely durable. The four solid flat conveying chains have a high breaking load. The sprockets that engage with the flat conveying chains in the deflection area ensure reliable guidance of the crop. The chains are simultaneously cleaned of wood chips and other crop types during the deflection process. This reliably prevents any portions of crop from becoming jammed in the chains. CARGOS features. The CARGOS 700 also features the modular CLAAS tandem or tridem chassis. This is available with either mechanical suspension or hydraulic compensation, or as an option with hydraulic suspension. With a wide range of available tyres (22.5", 26.5" or 30.5"), the CARGOS 700 can become a customised harvest transport wagon. Maximum load volume combined with extreme manoeuvrability. With the front grille at an angle of 30, and the body tapering towards the rear, all models have a maximum load volume. This makes the wagons extremely short, but with an impressive level of manoeuvrability. To further increase the load volume, additional platform gate extensions are available for all three models, just as in the CARGOS Chain tensioning. Scraper floor chains function reliably and in a wear-resistant manner only if they are perfectly tensioned. Easy access to the scraper floor chains means they can be conveniently tensioned at any time. The drawbar. The slimline drawbar permits very wide steering angles. The jack is integrated into the drawbar for added protection, and simply folds down for unhitching

By lowering the hydraulic articulating drawbar, the target surface area is expanded for the driver when chopping in a forwards direction. Drivers can easily direct the crop into the wagon and it ends up where it belongs not just when driving straight ahead, but also when cornering. Faster discharging. Raising the drawbar significantly speeds up the discharge process. The loaded material is tipped directly backwards, and residue is conveyed faster from the wagon. In addition, features such as the tapering structure and the scraper floor driven on both sides, together with the option of two discharge speeds, all facilitate rapid discharging in the clamp. Further benefits. Both hitching and unhitching are easier, because the drawbar can be set to the correct height at the push of a button. If necessary, traction can also be increased, thereby reducing slip, since the wagon wheels move closer to the rear of the tractor when the articulating drawbar is raised. Thanks to the generously dimensioned drawbar lift rams, the hydraulic articulating drawbar can securely lift the wagon upwards, even when fully loaded. In addition, the optional drawbar suspension via two accumulators can provide optimum ride comfort for road journeys at any time. The hydraulic articulating drawbar allows the entire wagon to be raised or lowered to its maximum and minimum heights. Highest discharge speed with the articulating drawbar raised. 26 Easy handling. CARGOS 700 It's so easy. The harvest transport wagon is operated via three doubleacting and one single-acting tractor spools. A small control unit is available for the two-stage drive on the scraper floor and the work lights. The LED work lights, which are optionally available, are also switched on and off from the control unit. Metering roller module with drive train. Removal of metering rollers. The two open metering rollers are designed to achieve maximum throughput. Together with the sturdy tines arranged in a helix formation, the crop is evenly distributed on the clamp. The drive operates via a single wide-angle drive shaft. If necessary, the metering roller module can be removed in no time to increase the discharge speed. The gaps can be closed with optional side panels. Removal reduces the weight by approximately 500 kg. It also increases the load volume, for example for wood chip or maize transport. There is easy access through the integrated access hatch to the interior of the wagon for cleaning or maintenance work

27 A productive forest worker. CARGOS 700 The front side. Modern design combined with functionality: the partially perforated front grille allows a clear view of the wagon interior. It has been designed in line with the principle as much as necessary, and as little as possible, to ensure that the crop can slide over the remaining flat surfaces. Robust and reliable. Contractor Noel Gröne from Dassel in Germany s Lower Saxony region has been testing one of the first CARGOS 750 models since September His work mainly focuses on the production and transport of wood chips. The material (beech, spruce and other forest woods) is chopped directly into the CARGOS, and initially transported to a storage area. From there, it is taken by truck to heat and power stations or chipboard factories. The CARGOS is ideal for intermediate transport on rough forest tracks, which are often icy or muddy in winter, says Mr Gröne. To meet the challenges of operations in the forest, he consciously chose a chassis with hydraulic suspension. A hydraulic drawbar suspension system reduces the load on the tractor. In the first year alone, the wagon was deployed for approximately 900 operating hours for wood chip transport. An important selection criterion for Mr Gröne was therefore the stability of the wagon. He also appreciates the excellent handling: Thanks to the low centre of gravity, you can always drive safely, even on slopes, he says. To make the most of the wagon's capacity throughout the year, the contracting company also helps out farmers during the grass and maize harvesting season. This added a further 500 operating hours to the wagon's workload in Handling is very comfortable, Gröne says. Needless to say, he lowers the hydraulic articulating drawbar for harvesting operations: That way nothing is wasted. He also has praise for the quick discharge time: A wagon that is filled to the brim can be emptied in less than a minute with the two-stage drive. It's a great advantage to be that quick, both in the clamp and in the forest. Mr Gröne s customers are happy not just with the performance of the CARGOS 750, but also with the other machines the contractor can offer. These include two CARGOS 9600 models and various specialised machines

Thanks to full ISOBUS capability, the comfort version has a number of functions programmed on the tractor joystick or function keys, or controlled via an ISOBUS terminal (e.g. via COMMUNCATOR II or EASY on board), as is the case with the dual-purpose wagons. Many of the functions are automatic, increasing both convenience and efficiency. And when making a tight turn, the articulation angle warning assist sounds an acoustic alarm to warn the driver before any collision between the tractor and the trailer drawbar. Handy parked position: brackets for all hoses and cables keep your machine shed tidy. Self-explanatory labelling makes hitching easier. The optional load weight indicator lets drivers know exactly how much they have loaded. The job management system allows the transported weights to be assigned to a number of different customers

A double-sided loading bay cover is available as an option on all CARGOS 700 models, regardless of whether they come with comfort or standard hydraulics. It can be operated from the comfort of the cab using the control terminal (or the dualacting spool valve on the standard version). The load is reliably protected in the blink of an eye. Not only our farmers, but also biogas plant operators and other energy producers are increasingly searching for alternatives, i.e. plants that can produce energy yields at least as high as maize, and also have beneficial side-effects: Vetches, clover, lucerne and other legumes fix valuable nitrogen in the soil Activation of the soil biotope and improvement of the humus balance has many positive impacts, such as higher water uptake, lower risk of soil erosion (less capping in heavy rain), increased binding of CO 2, etc. Lower risk of disease means reduced use of crop protection products Flowering plants attract bees and other beneficial insects Diversity helps minimise economic risk Permanent crops significantly reduce cost and effort, making small or marginal land plots more viable The workload can be spread more evenly, and machines operated at capacity over longer periods Harvesting is a breeze! Vetch-rye with grass nurse crop. Silphium perfoliatum. Wood chips. Lucerne the queen of forage plants. In spring, the vetch plants fix nitrogen via their rhizobia, which benefits the cereals and the grass nurse crop almost as soon as they have sprouted. After the first harvest in early summer, the grass continues to grow, allowing an additional crop to be harvested. With a high dry matter content of over 30%, the crop is excellent for making silage. Dry matter losses are avoided, as no drying steps are needed, and ideally it can be cut with the DIRECT DISC and JAGUAR and transported directly to the silo in the CARGOS forage transport wagon. Silphium perfoliatum is the shooting star of energy plants. Largely unheard of until quite recently, it is now very much in the spotlight at bioenergy conferences. Once the stand is established, it can continue to be harvested for several years. It grows to a height of over 3.0 metres, and over the summer months the methane yield of the flowering plants has been shown in some trials to be greater than that of maize. It is also less susceptible to hail damage, and insects are attracted to the pollen and nectar of the yellow flowers. With its sturdy platform gates and robust scraper floor, the CARGOS is approved for wood chip transport. An additional feature of this wagon is its performance on rough terrain: the hydraulically suspended chassis demonstrates exceptional driving characteristics even on rough forest tracks. This allows transportation of crops such as short-rotation plantations with poplars and willows, or exotic crops elephant grass (Miscanthus) for example as well as material collected from tree thinning work.
