2 THIS DOCUMENT MUST BE PERMANENTLY PRESENT IN THE TRACTOR, AND MUST BE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE USING THE AGRIbumper The AGRIbumper may not be used in the USA and Canada. Safety Precautions The instructions stated in this user manual must be strictly followed in relation to: The safety of others Your own safety The optimal operation of the AGRIbumper The operating life of the AGRIbumper, the front linkage and the tractor The AGRIbumper may only be used, if: The correct height for use is set (approximately 400mm above the road surface); Nobody is present within the work area when the tractor with AGRIbumper is being driven or operated; The operator/driver has carefully read and is fully conversant with the content of this user manual; The maximum load that the AGRIbumper may carry as weight is not exceeded; The AGRIbumper is not improperly used; All locally applicable regulations are complied with; When coupling and uncoupling, personal protection equipment must be used as prescribed in the Working Conditions Act (Dutch: Arbowet ); Weights are secured at the location designated for this purpose (if mounted); Sufficient space exists between the AGRIbumper and the front tyres of the tractor. EXCLUSION FROM LIABILITY The AGRIbumper has been designed and manufactured as an improved and SAFER add-on part for agricultural tractors and can enhance safety by improving visibility, thus minimising the likelihood of an accident / or endeavouring to minimise the consequences of and / or by minimising an accident for all of the parties involved, irrespective of the situation or who is to blame. The use of an AGRIbumper does expressly not provide any guarantee for preventing injury, personal injury and/or consequential damage or any type of unforeseen situation. Due to the lack of laws and/or regulations, there are no guidelines that the product can and must comply with, and it has not been tested for crashworthiness. The product can also not be approved and is classified under the add-on parts category. By putting the product into service and making payment for it, you confirm this exclusion from liability. You use the product at your own risk. AGRIbumper excludes all liability from the use of the product. Maintenance In principle, an AGRIbumper does not require any special maintenance, except for regular cleaning so that the lighting and the reflective width marking remain clearly visible. RETIGHTENING It is recommended to regularly make a general check of the attachments and any weight plates for loosening bolts. Pre-tensioning and tightening torques max. 400Nm. Where possible, use self-locking fasteners. Changes AGRIbumper is entitled to make interim technical changes without giving prior notice to third parties or to make amendments to the CE document. 3 Description and intended use Modern agricultural tractors and implements are becoming increasingly larger, heavier, faster, and more efficient. Scaling-up and an increasing need for transport by tractors on public roads across (medium) long distances is partly due to the increasing worldwide demand for food. Optimal weight distribution between tractor and implement is thus essential in this respect. When using the tractor in a field, the traction of the tractor tyres on the soil is a key aspect, where damage to the precious soil must be prevented as much as possible by minimising soil compaction. A conventional concrete or steel front weight is often too light or too heavy or protrudes too far in front of the tractor. AGRIbumper manufactures safer and variable front weights for tractors with improved weight distribution. AGRI (weight) bumpers are suitable for every brand and type of tractor. Standard equipment includes day driving LED lights, flashing light and width markings so that the tractor is more visible in traffic, in all weather conditions, during the daytime, at dusk, as well as at night. This helps to prevent (virtually all) collisions, especially on narrow country roads where vehicles are often driven over the centre-line of the road. In the event of an accident, the tractor with its large front tyres no longer ends up on top of a car with serious consequences. AGRIbumper contributes to a more positive image for your company and the sector. One AGRIbumper, possibly with its front weights, is mounted as close as possible on the front linkage of the tractor. This ensures that the front linkage remains functional and that the turning circle is not adversely affected. Several combinations of the weight blocks are possible. 4 Versions AGRIbumpers are available in several versions, i.e.: Base-line type, kg Not only intended as safety device, but also for carrying weights up to a total maximum weight of 1000 kg (including the base frame). Standard equipment includes width-marking stickers, Hella day driving LED lights in combination with flashing lights. Weight-line type kg Not only intended as safety device, but also for carrying weights up to a total maximum weight of 2000 kg (including the base frame). Standard equipment includes width-marking stickers, Hella day driving LED lights in combination with flashing lights. Easy-line type kg Not only intended as safety device, but also for carrying weights up to a total maximum weight of 2000 kg (including the base frame). Standard equipment includes width-marking stickers, Hella day driving LED lights in combination with flashing lights To enhance with Easymass steel casted frontweight in 600, 900 or 1800kg and extend add-on nos-weight 300 or 600kg. Type plate The maximum load (weights) that may be added to the AGRIbumper and the production details are stated on the type plate, secured to the base plate of the frame. The maximum permissible weight is 2000kg. Never exceed this maximum load! 5 Weights The AGRIbumper Weight-line 400 model can be made heavier in various ways using specially developed weight blocks or steel plates and clamps on the left, right and/or in the centre. 6 Assembly The assembly of the AGRIbumper is generally very easy. In most cases, the hinge points of the lifting arms are used. Most front linkage manufacturers can mount the lifting arms horizontally or vertically. They do this by removing or inserting one or more pins in a central hinge point. One or two of these hinge-pins is/are used for the assembly of the adapter. This adapter (photo 1) is the only part that depends on the brand of tractor brand, or brand of front linkage. You must state this brand-dependent adapter when ordering. Some adapter types fit onto several brands of tractor / front linkage (photo 2). The corresponding pins and/or bolts are supplied with the delivery (see photos of various adapter assemblies). photo 1: Separate adapter for/after assembly photo 2: Position of adapter after assembly(mf) The end of the adapter is equipped with long and short side (photo 1), which enables the bumper to be mounted in all positions, even when the adapter is not mounted completely perpendicular. This depends on the type and mounting angle of the front linkage. This is different for each brand of tractor/front linkage. The mounting plate of the bumper is secured to the adapter by two heavy-duty M30 bolts. photo 3:easy mounting photo 4: Support template / bolt Our advise is to use 2 belts/chains to mount with forklift. In principle, the rest of the bumper is supplied already assembled, however the width, height and depth can still be adjusted. These dimensions to be adjusted depend on the size of the tractor, the size of the tyres and the desired ride height. Per brand/type, special support templates and adjusting bolts are also supplied so that the angle of the AGRIbumper can always be adjusted so that it is perpendicular (photo 4). Ensure that sufficient clearance exists (at least approximately 40mm) between the AGRIbumper and the front tyres of the tractor when fully steered in and with the front linkage in the highest position, if necessary, use the gap adjustment with slots in the frame of the construction or, if desired, use spacer rings. Caution: Risk of becoming trapped! 7 Height for use AGRIbumper recommends that the ride height is adjusted to approximately 400 mm measured from the road surface to the lowermost edge of the bumper (range: -50mm to +50mm) In the event of a collision with a car at this ride height, it is highly unlikely that the vehicle ends up underneath the tractor: this is the key objective of the AGRIbumper as a safety device. Always check the correct height adjustment before you take your tractor onto the road. Every AGRIbumper is equipped as standard with day driving LED lights in combination with flashing lights. The bumper is connected by means of a standard 7-pole plug. Most tractors are equipped with a standard connection for this purpose at the front. If this is not the case, then this (female) plug must be installed in accordance with the guidelines from the tractor manufacturer. You can find detailed assembly user manuals at or in the assembly manual that is supplied. 8 Guarantee Every AGRIbumper has a standard guarantee of 1 year against manufacturing defects after delivery. The delivery date is deemed to be the invoice date. The guarantee is void, if: A defect is not immediately reported to the supplier when it is detected; Improper use is made of the AGRIbumper; The permissible weight has been exceeded; You have attempted to make repairs without the prior permission of the supplier. Moreover: No guarantee in the event of scratches or other damage to the paintwork on the entire product; The tractor may never be towed by the AGRIbumper; Towing eyes may never be attached; No guarantee for the Hella LED lighting set; AGRIbumper may not be used in the USA and Canada. Claim under guarantee In order to claim under the guarantee, the owner must return the AGRIbumper to the supplier carriage paid. If the guarantee is valid, the latter shall perform the repair free of charge in accordance with the general terms and conditions for sale and delivery. 9 LED lighting set AGRIbumper only uses original brand Hella (DRL, 12 V / = no. 2BE ) (E label) with moulded connection cables and 7-pole plug (see diagram). Also read the instructions from the tractor manufacturer and/or Hella. Some tractor brands use a different wiring diagram or do not use lighting functions. Always secure connection cables with cable ties so that wiring does not hang loose and cannot become pinched.tractors (still) do not have a dimming function for day driving LED lights. Replacing LED lamp or cable If a single LED lamp has to be replaced, this is possible through every Hella dealer, use order number DRL, 12 V / = no. 2BE for the standard Hella lamp. A new connection cable with 7-pole plug or complete day driving LED lighting set is only available from AGRIbumper Nederland. If you order through AGRIbumper, then no discount is possible and delivery costs are charged, with payment required in advance. Exemption from assembly instructions ECE regulations article 6, (LED lamp) When used on an agricultural tractor, the stated regulations cannot be fully complied with because an AGRIbumper is secured to a part of the vehicle that moves up and down. The standard tractor design does not permit this. Agribumper thus excludes all liability in this respect. Always set the correct ride height of approximately 400mm above the road surface when using the tractor with LED lighting switched on public roads and regularly check this height. 10 Reflectors Basic colour of the AGRIbumper is black. Upon ordering, the design plates are supplied in the colour of the stated tractor brand. This can be done by using coloured paint or coloured stickers, depending on the availability of the colours. Each unit is equipped at the front with approved reflective stickers (3M brand) (E1 101R/ label) that have been specially manufactured for AGRIbumper. Using implements In many situations, the AGRIbumper can be used in combination with implements / front machines or additional weights. This depends on the brand and type of tractor, front linkage, implement / machine and the distance that the cat. 2 or cat. 3 couplings protrude from the lowermost lifting arms / lifting bars. AGRIbumper does not provide a use guarantee for the front linkage and/or front implements / machines due to the wide variety and specific circumstances. Maintain sufficient distance / as much distance as possible from the AGRIbumper for optimal access and coupling operations. Also carefully read the instructions for use and regulations for the tractor, front linkage and the implements before you put the assembled AGRIbumper unit into service or use it on the public road. Be aware that other (vehicle) rules and regulations can be applicable in neighbouring countries such as the Merkblatt Anbaugeräte des Bundesministers für Verkehr.(Germany) Caution: risk of becoming trapped! Wear personal protection equipment in accordance with the Working Conditions Act (Dutch: Arbowet ); Take care to ensure that the load/crop cannot fall off during use on public roads; Regularly clean your implement(s) and the AGRIbumper; Ensure that the (correct) lighting works and remains visible in accordance with highway code; If equipped with a front Power Take Off (PTO), check that it can rotate and/or move freely; Consult the instructions for use for the implements to be used; Never exceed the maximum load for the front linkage; Never exceed the maximum dimension of 350 cm measured from the centre of the steering wheel to the front of the tractor. The system is registered and filed under number /kfb at the Central Archive of the Netherlands ( Centraal Nederlands Archief ) and is manufactured in accordance with the Machinery Directive 98/37/EC for implements or parts of machines that do not operate independently. Due to the lack of laws and/or regulations, there are no guidelines that the product can and must comply with, and for this reason, it has not been tested for crashworthiness. The product can also not be approved and is classified under the individual add-on parts category for agricultural vehicles. regulations 168/2013/EU and 167/2013/EU AGRIbumper and the users of AGRIbumpers acknowledge their social responsibility and constitute part of a longterm test program and possible creation of future EU laws and regulations and revised eligibility and homologation requirements for safer agricultural vehicles. Until the introduction of laws and regulations, the use of AGRIbumper front weights is strongly recommended by European contractors sector associations.
