9 Definitions update - Telematics Telematics: the process in which data is gathered and transmitted from the vehicle to a remote destination. This allows all data points which the car records to be communicated to an outside source. This data is viewable by the consumer through applications and is also viewable to the manufacture. Aftermarket devices are also available to communicate to other sources (insurance companies, parents of teen drivers, businesses, etc.) The data points which are transmitted can include but are not limited to speed, g- forces, temperatures, pressures, GPS location, diagnostic trouble codes, as well as any other data recorded by a vehicle. For the collision repairer this means the customer and the manufacture can see exactly what is being done to their vehicle, what systems are disconnected, where the car is being driven, how long the car is sitting in one location in the shop, and countless other items.

12 Integration of Repair Procedures Observations: The OEM repair procedures need to be followed on ALL repair, replace, R&I, and sublet operations being performed. Industry stakeholders on a large scale are picking and choosing when to reference service materials. Example: Should a shop research how to take a tail lamp out? YES OEM subscription sites for service materials as a whole are clunky and do not adhere to one easy to use interface. HOWEVER like any other piece of software the more you USE it the more comfortable you become. They also don t offer group price for access multiple OEMs, Shops need to analyze data on how many of which make vehicle are registered around them. I m aware of a couple of paint companies that offer this type of reporting. While 3 rd party providers of repair information offer a standardized user interface as a whole they are 2 sometimes 3 years behind current model year. Some offer a library support feature where subscribers can request information on current vehicles.

16 Recent visit with The Drivers Presence Detection Module (DPDM) (1) functions as a back-up sensor used to detect when the driver has entered or exited the vehicle in the absence of the door ajar sensor. It is a modified version of an Occupant Classification Module (OCM) which is a small Electronic Control Unit (ECU) attached by hose to a fluid filled bladder that is located against the bottom surface of the seat foam within the passenger seat structure Driver Presence Detection Module
