Remove/Install DANGER: - Risk of explosion from fuel igniting, risk of poisoning from inhaling and swallowing fuel as well as risk of injury to eyes and skin from contact with fuel.

2 Remove/Install DANGER: - Risk of explosion from fuel igniting, risk of poisoning from inhaling and swallowing fuel as well as risk of injury to eyes and skin from contact with fuel. - No fire, sparks, naked flames or smoking. - Pour fuels only into suitable and appropriately marked containers. - Wear protective clothing when handling fuel. - Risk of explosion from explosive gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns from swallowing battery electrolyte. Risk of injury through burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries - No fire, sparks, naked flames or smoking. - Wear protective gloves, acid-resistant clothing and safety glasses. Pour battery electrolyte only into suitable and appropriately marked containers. 2/6

3 1 Disconnect ground cable of battery 2.1 Pump out fuel NOTE: - When fuel tank is full suction off approx. 20 L: - Draining and filling fuel tank 3.1 Remove rear seat cushion 3.2 Position rear seat cushion upright 3.3 Remove rear seat cushion 4 Spit back sound deading mat (1) 5 Unscrew bolts (5) and remove cover (2) 6 Separate electrical plug connection (3) 7 Disconnect fuel line (4) NOTE: - Cover separation point with rag, in order to prevent ingress of fuel in the interior compartment. - Installation: Inspect hose clamp, install new clamp if necessary. 8 Use claw-type wrench to turn down ring nuts (10) NOTE: Installation: Replace sealing ring. - Ring nut to fuel tank = 80 Nm - Claw-type wrench: See Special Tools below. 9 Take out position bracket (11) NOTE: Installation: The marking of the position bracket (11) and the marking of the fuel tank (75) must be matched 10 Take out sealing ring (9) 11 Disconnect electrical connectors (B) at cylinder head (M3) 12 Disconnect fuel line (6) at fuel pump (M3) NOTE: Press clutch (see arrow). and disconnect fuel line (6) 3/6

4 13 Take fuel lines (7) out of brackets at fuel pump (M3) 14 Remove fuel pump (M3) in the right half of the tank NOTE: The fuel level sensor, right half of tank, (B4/2) and fuel pump (M3) form a single unit 15 Remove fuel level sensor, left half of tank (B4/1) NOTE: Installation: - The marking of the fuel level sensor, left half of tank (B4/1) and the marking of the fuel tank (75) must be matched. - Bind fuel lines (6, 7) in the right tank chamber at the ends together with a tie strap, these can then be better guided through the narrow connection of the two tank chambers. 16 Install in the reverse order 17 Perform basic programming DANGER: - Risk of accident. Accidents may result if the vehicle starts off unintentionally with the engine running. Risk of injury as working around the engine during start-up or while running may result in contusions and burns - Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving. - Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. - Do not grasp hot or rotating parts. 12 Carry out engine test run NOTE: Check fuel system for leaks.
