Improper use or installation of this product can cause serious bodily injury or death. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS 1. DO NOT smoke near dispenser or use dispenser near an open flame when pumping flammable fluids. Fire could result. Installation should be in accordance with NFPA 30A. 2. Dispenser should be properly grounded and rigid conduit should be used when installing electrical wiring. 3. Use gasoline resistant compound on threaded joints. 4. This product should not be used for fluid transfer into aircraft. 5. This product is not suited for use with fluids for human consumption or fluids containing water. The 305 Remote Dispenser is a power operated petroleum dispensing device, for use on fixed aboveground tanks with a maximum capacity in accordance with NFPA 30A. It is used in conjunction with a tank top pump and can handle a variety of fuels up to 40 GPM at ±2% accuracy. The dispenser can operate with a 110V/60Hz or 220V/60Hz pump, if desired. The 305 is equipped with a Fill-Rite 900 Series Meter with a manual reset (for non-resale applications). The 900 Meter is accurate at ±2% in a flow range from 6 to 40 GPM. TECHNICAL INFORMATION Design Features 1" NPT inlet, 1" NPT outlet 50 PSI maximum pressure Furnished with 12' hose and manual nozzle Meter: Positive displacement, nutating disc type Can be calibrated for ±2% accuracy within a fluid range of 6 to 40 GPM (23 to 151 LPM) Register: Three resettable unit wheels with large 11/16" figures and tenths wheel Totalizer reads to 999,999.9 gallons Cabinet measures 13"W x 11 1/2"D x 10 1/2"H Liter measure: Four resettable unit wheels Totalizer reads to 99,999,999 liters Front or rear discharge Red or white cabinet Universal nozzle boot for automatic or vapor recovery nozzles Automatic nozzle for standard or universal boot High flow automatic nozzle for universal boot Filter kits Tank mounting bracket Fluid Compatibility OPTIONS If in doubt about compatibility of a specific fluid, contact supplier of fluid to check for any adverse reactions to the following wetted materials. 3 INSTALLATION 305 remote dispensers and tank top pumps must be installed in accordance with the applicable requirements of the Automotive and Marine Service Station Code, NFPA No. 30A, and the National Electrical Code, NFPA No. 70. They are designed for use either inside of outside of buildings subject to the acceptance of inspection authorities having jurisdiction at points of installation. Mechanical Installation 1. Mount pump securely on top of tank (see pump mounting instructions included with pump). 2. Refer to mounting plate tank mounting diagram, if applicable, and install mounting plate to tank (position plate for desired dispenser height and to allow for most direct piping from pump to dispenser). 3. Place dispenser on mounting plate. NOTE: The screw heads will protrude through the mounting plate clearance holes. Remove four 1/2" hex head screws at dispenser inlet one or two at a time to prevent movement of internal components of dispenser. Place 5/16" or larger flat washer on screw and 4. Carefully measure and install piping between pump with union located at pump. Pipe is not intended to support pump or dispenser in any manner. Electrical Installation Refer to installation and wiring diagrams for pump and dispenser conduit connection locations and wiring method. 1. Remove dispenser cabinet top and junction box cover (see ASSEMBLY/DISASSEMBLY section in this manual). 2. If using conduit opening on left end of junction box, remove plug and install a 3/4" x 1/2" conduit reducer bushing and a 1/2" short conduit elbow. Elbow should line up with hole in dispenser base. Run rigid conduit from pump motor junction box to opening in base. Suggest using 1/2" expansion unions for ease of assembly. Locking Mechanism Models with universal nozzle boots: The nozzle retainer is designed to accept a padlock for locking the nozzle in place when the device is not in use. Padlock not supplied. Models with standard nozzle boots: The handle stop is provided with an elongated hole to accept a padlock for locking the nozzle in place when the device is not in use. A padlock with a minimum shackle height of 2" and a maximum height of 3" is required. Padlock is not supplied. CALIBRATION The Fill-Rite Series 900 Meter used inside the 305 pumping system is calibrated at the factory for metering gasoline in either U.S. gallons or liters, depending on the model. Calibration is recommended upon initial use, and required after disassembly, when metering a different fluid, or after significant wear. Calibration must be done between 6 and 40 GPM. Meter calibration can be easily changed by following the calibration procedure listed below. A proving container or a container of KNOWN volume will be needed for the calibration procedure. The container s volume should be at least five times larger than the unit of calibration. For example, a five gallon container should be used when calibrating for gallons. Procedure for Calibration: 1. Fill container to a known volume. 2. If meter amount is incorrect, turn calibration screw (item 37) counterclockwise for more liquid or clockwise for less liquid. 3. Repeat step 1 and 2 until calibration is acceptable. 3. Run 1/2" rigid conduit from power source to remaining opening in base. 4. With power turned off, connect pump wires and power wires to line switch leads per wiring diagram. Connect ground wires to ground screws in junction boxes and to ground source. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 1. After hose, nozzle, filter, etc. have been installed, hold nozzle open into tank opening or container and turn on switch handle. Allow pump to prime and evacuate air from system. 2. Reset meter to zero. 3. To check meter calibration, insert nozzle into container of known volume and fill. If calibration is required, do so before replacing cabinet top. 3

4 ASSEMBLY/DISASSEMBLY Disconnect power to dispenser before removing cover. Drain liquid from system before loosening any fittings to prevent excessive spillage. Dispenser Cabinet (see assembly drawing) Disassembly 1. Remove front plate (item 1) by removing two screws (item 16). 2. Remove faceplate (item 51) by removing two screws (item 53). 3. Pull off reset knob (item 50). 4. Remove six screws (item 10) from cabinet top (item 11). 5. Turn switch handle (item 18) to vertical position. 6. Remove top and set aside to expose junction box and meter. Assembly 1. Replace cabinet top, making sure it slips over the meter and the outside edges of the cabinet base (item 2). 2. Replace screws in cabinet top. Install the two screws in back of cabinet before replacing side screws. Position top squarely before tightening screws. 3. Attach reset knob. 4. Replace faceplate and front plate. Align each before tightening. Meter (see 900 meter drawing) Meter can be completely disassembled without disturbing piping, or meter can be partially disassembled as required. Meter Counter Assembly (item 10) 1. To expose counter assembly, remove front plate and faceplate per cabinet disassembly. 2. Reassemble by reversing procedure. Meter Gear Train and Seal 1. To access gear train or seal, remove two screws (item 5) and gear frame (item 6). 2. Remove cluster gear (item 20), shaft (item 19) and washer (item 21). 3. Remove drive gear (item 26) and washers (item 25) by rotating and pulling drive gear. 4. Remove O-ring seal (item 27). When reassembling seal, lubricate O-ring with oil or petroleum jelly and replace in cover. 5. To reassemble, place washer on drive gear shaft. Rotate and push shaft through O-ring and cover carefully to prevent damage to O-ring. Shaft must then be guided into pinion bevel (item 29) if counter has not been removed. 6. Replace remaining parts by reversing procedure. MAINTENANCE Meter should operate maintenance free. However, certain liquids can dry out while in meter housing, causing meter to stop. If this happens, meter should be thoroughly cleaned (see cleaning instructions below). Cleaning Instructions: 1. Meter can be removed from dispenser by removing eight screws (items 22 and 27 on dispenser drawing). 2. Run a flushing fluid through meter. For a more thorough cleaning, disassemble meter according to the ASSEMBLY/DISASSEMBLY section, Meter Chamber Assembly subsection of this manual. Rinse all meter components. Recalibrate meter following calibration instructions. NOTE: Due to complicated assembly methods, individual counter assembly parts are not available. The complete assembly must be replaced if problems occur. Meter Chamber Assembly (item 3) 1. To expose meter chamber assembly, gear train and seal, remove four bolts (item 34) from back of meter. 2. Meter chamber assembly can be removed by removing four screws (item 5). 3. Reassemble by reversing procedure. Meter chamber assembly consists of upper and lower chambers and nutating disc. If replacement of any components of the meter chamber assembly is required, the complete assembly must be replaced due to the precise method of its construction. This assures a proper fit and a correctly operating chamber. 4

Each of our products will always be made with the same care and quality that made our pumps famous. Fill-Rite Division of Tuthill Corporation ("Manufacturer") warrants to each buyer of its products (the "Buyer") for a period of 12 months from date of installation but in no event more than 18 months from date of manufacture that goods of its manufacture ("Goods") will be free from defects of material and workmanship. Specific to Series 10, 12, 20, and 22, Warranty is understood not to exceed 6 months and is specific to all related items. Manufacturer s sole obligation under the foregoing warranties will be limited to either, at Manufacturer s option, replacing or repairing defective Goods (subject to limitations hereinafter provided) or refunding the purchase price for such Goods theretofore paid by the Buyer, and Buyer s exclusive remedy for breach of any such warranties will be enforcement of such obligations of Manufacturer. If Manufacturer so requests the return of the Goods, the Goods will be redelivered to Manufacturer in accordance with Manufacturer s instructions F.O.B. Factory. IN NO EVENT SHALL MANUFACTURER BE LIABLE FOR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, NOR SHALL MANUFACTURER S LIABILITY ON ANY CLAIM FOR DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF THE MANUFACTURE, SALE, DELIVERY OR USE OF THE GOODS EXCEED THE PURCHASE PRICE OF THE GOODS. The foregoing warranties will not extend to Goods subjected to misuse, neglect, accident or improper installation or maintenance, or which have been altered or repaired by anyone other than Manufacturer or its authorized representative. THE FOREGOING WARRANTIES ARE EXCLUSIVE AND IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES OF MER- CHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR PURPOSE AND OF ANY OTHER TYPE, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.
