3 General Description FORM EG2 UNIT DESCRIPTION The YORK CurbPak is designed for rooftop applications. The design flexibility and quality construction of the CurbPak sets it apart from the competition. OUTDOOR FEATURES The CurbPak is specifically designed for outdoor applications. The outdoor design features of the CurbPak allow it to withstand the most severe environments. A rooftop unit is only as good as its roof. The CurbPak roof is sloped to eliminate standing water and its corrosive effects. In addition, the roof panels are fastened through standing seams and attached to the side walls. This eliminates the need for any screws through the skin of the roof, thus eliminating this as a possible source of leakage. On the YORK CurbPak, the roof overhangs the sidewalls and doors, allowing runoff water to drop freely, eliminating corrosive streaming down the sides of the unit. The sidewalls are also free of exposed holes, and joints are caulked and covered with U-shaped seamcaps to assure a tight, reliable seal. Internal stiffening assures a high resistance to wind loads. ROOF w/seam CAP DETAIL 00058VIP (27174 & 27194) All outside air and exhaust air openings are protected from the outside elements by rain hoods. The rain hoods assure that no wind-blown moisture can penetrate the unit casing. The rain hood design features a full-length, drip lip that prevents moisture from being drawn in the outside air intake. 4 General Description The CurbPak coil IAQ drain pan is sloped to minimize standing condensate, and offers a full two inches of insulation to give the pan the thermal protection it requires. RAIN HOOD 28072A(D) STRUCTURAL PERFORMANCE The CurbPak housing has been designed for maximum deflections 1/200 of panel length. Design criteria system static pressure include snow loading of 30 pound/ sq. ft. and wind load of 100 m.p.h. QUALITY DRAIN PAN DOUBLE SLOPE DRAIN PAN LINER 2" INSULATION CurbPak units are constructed entirely of double wall panels including the floor panels! Panels are insulated with a full two inches of insulation. Perforated lining is available in most segments to meet a variety of applications. The double wall design provides the highest quality of unit construction, while preventing erosion of the insulation fibers into the air stream. 1-1/4" DRAIN MPT CONNECTION SLOPED DRAIN PAN DETAIL 2" INSULATION LD06465 Access Doors The CurbPak access doors are also double wall construction. The doors feature a full-length stainless steel piano hinge. The use of positive action handles prevent locking if door is accidentally shut. These handles are used in unit sizes 65 through 400. 5 FORM EG2 SUPPLY FAN SEGMENT CURBPAK SEGMENTS EXPOSED COIL SEGMENT FILTER SEGMENT INLET/ECONOMIZER SEGMENT WITH DWDI RETURN AIR FAN 25514A FLEXIBILITY For maximum flexibility the CurbPak is based on a segmented design concept. The unit construction however, is unitized. Each unit is engineered and built as a single assembly for greater unit integrity. The segmental design concept permits the designer to optimize and customize segments that will best meet the application. The unit is then engineered and built as a single piece, not a collection of pre-designed and prebuilt modules. STAINLESS STEEL CONTINUOUS TYPE HINGE 2" INSULATION 18 GA. GALVANIZED STEEL OUTER PANEL STANDARD 2" WALL CurbPak units are designed and built to ship as a single piece except sizes 860 and This minimizes installation time and cost. Units can however be shipped in multiple pieces to accommodate various shipping and job site requirements. Fans Double-Width, Double-Inlet (DWDI) fans and Single Width, Single-Inlet (SWSI) plenum fans are available for supply and return air fans. The plenum fan segments can accommodate multiple duct outlets, thus reducing the amount of field duct work and transitions. All of the CurbPak fan assemblies are internally isolated. Bag, Rigid and HEPA filters can be provided to meet stringent filtration requirements. Carbon filters are available for applications involving odor removal. Economizer INTEGRAL FACE & BYPASS (IFB) COIL Coils 00498VIP A variety of coils are available to meet every application. Both 1/2" and 5/8" coils are available for chilled water, hot water and direct expansion applications. A 1" inch outside diameter Steam Distributing Coil can be selected for heating applications. For the maximum amount of freeze protection, the YORK CurbPak can be provided with an integral face and bypass coil. YORK will furnish and factory install coils manufactured by the L.J. WING Company (TM). L.J. WING has set the standard for freeze protection with unsurpassed quality and design. Wing Coils are available with horizontal (IFB) and vertical (VIFB) tubes, depending upon unit size. Economizer segments are available to provide the maximum benefits of free-cooling during off peak operation. All of the CurbPak Economizer Segments can accommodate 100% outside air, exhaust air and return air. Return and exhaust fans are available to meet the needs of varying building pressurization requirements. Additional Segments A variety of other segments are available to match individual applications. The CurbPak is available with factory installed air blenders, sound attenuators, electric heat, face and bypass, humidifiers, diffusers, discharge plenums, access segments and indirect-fired gas burner segments. Other segments can be provided to accommodate special requirements. 6 YORK INTERNATIONAL

7 FORM EG2 FACTORY INSTALLED CONTROLS AND ELECTRICAL OPTIONS YORK has the capability to furnish units with factory installed singlepoint power motor starter panels, disconnects, marine lights, sensors, actuators or complete unit automation. Factory installed wiring greatly reduces installation time and cost. Factory installed inverters, the YORK Air-Modulator, provide the most efficient and cost effective VAV control in a complete factory package. Factory mounted inverters not only save field labor, but it also assures proper fan balance for vibration free operation. While most fans are balanced for a single speed, fans with inverters are factory balanced to operate over the entire RPM range. VARIABLE AIR VOLUME APPLICATIONS Factory mounted variable frequency drives (YORK Air-Modulator) and variable inlet vanes are available with the YORK CurbPak for Variable Air Volume Applications. YORK Air-Modulator (AM): YORK s Variable Frequency Drive, the AM, offers the most efficient means of fan control for variable air volume systems. The Air-Modulator varies the speed of the fan to match the VAV load requirements. The AM takes maximum advantage of the relation between fan speed and fan horsepower. With the AM, any reduction in fan speed results in a cubic reduction in fan horsepower. For example, a 10% speed reduction results in a 27% fan horsepower reduction! The AM offers the following benefits over variable inlet vanes and discharge dampers: Extended Equipment Life soft start of motor and fan. Quieter Fan Operation fan operating at reduced speed and constant line of efficiency. Eliminates need for motor starter panels. Improved system control and response DDC controls with LED digital display. 9 FORM EG2 FACTORY-MOUNTED END DEVICES IN THE CURBPAK AIR-HANDLING UNITS FACTORY-MOUNTED END DEVICES OVERVIEW The YORK Factory-mounted End Device Package consists of end devices that are pre-engineered; factory installed, wired and commissioned to provide a higher level of quality and consistency than can be achieved by installation on the job site. All end devices are mounted in the factory, on the assembly line, where there is complete access to all air-handling segments. No more trying to get inside of the unit, or taking it apart on the job site to install end devices. The end devices can be ordered 2 ways; mounted with no wiring or mounted and wired to an external control enclosure on the air-handling unit. All units that have end devices mounted and wired will have E.T.L. rating. CONTROL ENCLOSURE On all units ordered with Factory-mounted End Devices and wiring all end devices will be wired to a control enclosure that is mounted on the unit. On outdoor units the enclosure will be a NEMA 3R enclosure. The enclosure will consist of secondary transformers sized to handle all actuators, valves and end devices installed in the air-handler, control relays, and a low-limit reset button. On VAV air-handling units, a duct static pressure transducer will be mounted inside the enclosure and the tubing for the low and high side of the transducer will be piped to barbed fittings located on the outside of the enclosure. A terminal strip will be provided inside the control enclosure for all low voltage field terminations. The control enclosure will be E.T.L. listed. END DEVICE FACTORY COMMISSIONING Every end device that is Factory-mounted and wired will go through a detailed automated commissioning process to ensure that every end device functions properly before the air-handling unit leaves the factory. As part of this commissioning process, a report will be generated and this report will ship with the unit. The extensive commissioning the end devices go through at the factory would be virtually impossible to duplicate in the field. Through Cables on Shipping Splits On all air-handling units with shipping splits, cables with field connectors will be supplied. The operator connects the automated commissioning tester to the segment being tested and then connects test plugs to the through cables. The automated commissioning tester then performs a test to verify that there are no open or shorts in the through cables and that all polarity is correct. On verification of this test, the automated commissioning tester records a pass condition. CONTROL ENCLOSURE FOR FACTORY-MOUNTED END DEVICES WIRING SCHEMATICS On air-handling units that are ordered with Factorymounted End Devices and wiring, a wiring schematic will be attached to unit. This schematic will include the following detail: A pictorial layout of the air-handling unit showing what devices are mounted in each segment. A wiring schematic showing all interlocking wiring to starter, disconnects and VFDs. Wiring of all end devices back to the circuit board that is located inside the control enclosure. A bill of material table that shows the YORK acronym and the corresponding part number.
