5 A REVOLUTION IN THE COCKPIT PORSCHE DESIGN TIMEPIECES 6 7 If you search for the source of the watches from Porsche Design, you will inevitably arrive at a place where time and technology merge together, where every hundredth of a second counts: on the racetrack. This is where the story of Porsche Design timepieces began. This is where the idea for the legendary Chronograph I the first of the Porsche Design watches was conceived. To minimize disruptive reflections, racing car cockpits began to be fitted with matte black instruments and white displays towards the end of the 1960s a concept that inspired Prof. F. A. Porsche to design the first matte black watch in the world. A watch with maximum contrasts for optimal legiblity. Functional design pared down to the essentials. Intelligent. And superior. A revolution in the watch industry. And the beginning of a success story that takes new curves with the Chronotimer Collection.

And the first titanium chronograph was not developed to establish a prestigious new material; it was developed to impress with its unheard of light weight, long life and comfort of wear against the skin. From the very beginning, the mission for the Porsche Design watches has been to think forward, explore technical possibilities and promote development. Today, an experienced team of designers is continuing what Prof. F. A. Porsche began in In the Studio F. A. Porsche in Zell am See in Austria, which is internationally renowned and has won several awards, the team still works today according to the design principles of the company s founder. With the courage to be innovative and the technical design standards characteristic of Porsche, the next generation of timepieces are being developed here. The aim is to set new benchmarks in terms of functionality, precision and performance. For the next standard that will make its mark on the times to come. 8 9

With technical ingenuity from motorsports, such as the grip structure for high-precision instruments which makes the crown easier to operate. In 2014, Porsche Design Timepieces AG was established in order to ensure that the high technical, material and processing standards have been met every step of the way. Here, in Solothurn in Switzerland, a team of watchmakers and engineers are responsible for the development and production of Porsche Design watches. They work together to find innovative solutions and new ways of creating extraordinary timepieces. Their belief is that true luxury is a matter of concentrating on the essentials. And with the idea that a technical masterpiece becomes a successful design when you get a lot out of a little
