6 BUT THERE S ONE THING THAT HASN T CHANGED SINCE 1972: OUR UNWAVERING FOCUS ON THE ESSENTIALS. LOW-REFLECTION DISPLAYS 8 9 Porsche Design boasts a long tradition of pioneering work. The very first watch designed by Prof. F. A. Porsche in 1972 was a global innovation on the watch market. The story of its development takes us back to the racetrack. Prof. F. A. Porsche created his Chronograph I, which is still considered a timeless design classic and a revolution today, after having been inspired by the low-reflection cockpits of the race cars of the 1960s. It was the world s first matte black watch. With it, he proved that form isn t the only thing to follow function, but occasionally the color as well. The black dials, for example, provide maximum contrast and thus optimum readability.

8 WHO SAYS THAT MOTORSPORTS TECHNOLOGY WAS ONLY MADE FOR THE ASPHALT? OPERATING CONCEPT Innovations from the racetrack are finding their way onto the roads and onto people's wrists. In 2017 Porsche Design debuted a world's first: a revolutionary take on the classic stop function. And the development of a completely innovative chronograph, marking another step into the future. Instead of a conventional pusher, the chronograph features a single rocker switch integrated into the casing. This in turn is inspired by the way the high-revving valve of the racing engine in the new Porsche 911 RSR is actuated by means of a rocker arm. The innovative concept not only makes the chronograph very precise and easy to use, but also significantly increases the durability and life span of the stop function. Perfectly suited for high performance and precision down to the second.

FLYBACK FUNCTION A revolution in the brand s history: the Werk The first Porsche Design proprietary movement is in keeping with the principles of the company s founder: If we wanted something, we had to make it ourselves. The chronograph caliber with flyback function is the result of three years of development and state-of-the art manufacturing technologies. It represents the culmination of Porsche engineering and watchmaking combined with its vehicle manufacturing expertise. It uses a single process for starting, stopping and resetting. In stopwatch mode, the timing of consecutive events is even more efficient.
