2 true Vitage Stecils The Vtg Stecil fots from astype are based o real world stecils. The US No. 4 desig was derived from a typical atique America stecil-plate. This revolvig stecil-plate was iveted by Eugee L. Tarbox ad pateted i It was a mass factored product ad a very commo tool i the Uited States util the success of the iterlockig stecils. These revolvig plates were produced ad sold till the 1920s. I case of US No. 4 a origial early plate from New York Stecil Works was used. The Regular style is a clea fot desig featurig a full stadard Type1 glyph set icludig some typical stecil oramets ad tabular figures. The Pait style is made from true steciled letters ad features all the letters of the stecil-plate oly. The picture o the right side shows a part of a aciet catalog for farmig tools ad illustrates available stecil-plate cofiguratios ad sizes. Beeath are all the letters ad figures of a typical stecilplate with oe ich letters. Most of the later stecil packages call these shapes 2A Roma like its kow ad produced till today but the later desigs are more straight with less sexy curves. So I see this desig as a early but very close model of a 2A Roma fot. A lot of these traditioal shapes you will fid o custom steciled plates of this time too. The icluded oramets are derived from these plates. So if you eed real historical spirit for your type project use real stecils or these digital fots.
