2 BAHCO, THE PLUMBING EXPERT BAHCO is manufacturing quality tools since JP Johansson a clever and creative craftsman, got his first patent for The Iron hand today known as the pipe wrench. JP Johansson idea was to replace fixed spanners with a single tool able as the human hand, to fit different sizes of bolts and nuts. These were the beginnings of product innovation and design that still prevail within the company today. In 1891 his next patent was the very first adjustable spanner. The constant repetition of some actions causes strain even if they do not feel particularly strenuous at the time. The design of ergonomic tools within Bahco is based on a scientifically recognised 11-point programme. This programme covers facts and experiences gathered from users, ergonomists, industrial designers, research and development departments as well as extensive testing and trials together with end-users of our tools. This method is unique within the tool industry. And to ensure that you can always see which tools have been developed according to this programme, each one is marked with the ERGO symbol.
