3 WASHROOMS COMPETITION POOLS With the experience of four decades in which NORKA has equipped swimming pools with powerful luminaires, the present range offers solutions that are convincing during planning as well as operation. As specialist for challenging environments, we constantly integrate the increasing demands for lighting systems for modern indoor swimming pools in our product development process. Many innovative highlights from the NORKA portfolio are therefore available in a swimming pool version. Designers and operators of swimming pools of all sizes can find reliable solutions for all typical challenges, from reflecting water surfaces through extreme challenges caused by moisture and temperature to safety and energy efficiency. Our LED moisture-proof luminaires that are equipped with highly reflective reflectors achieve a LOR (Light Output Ratio) of up to 97% leading to economical usage and excellent visual quality. Swimming and recreational pools must meet ever increasing requirements that demand individually adapted lighting design. With its large number of sizes and shapes, the NORKA luminare range offers numerous technical and aesthetic choices. Of course the entire range comes with a modern product design with ball impact resistant quality, long lasting housings made of high-quality polymer and aluminium as well as integrability into trunking system carriers. NORKA moreover sets standards when it comes to lighting control in extreme environmental conditions. Thanks to the Focussed Lighting concept, NORKA s LED luminaires can be precisely adjusted to the relevant requirements resulting in an energy saving potential of up to 50%. Another 30% can be saved with the use of control technology. Using the XARA lighting control system, NORKA luminaires equipped with daylight or motion sensors can be controlled decentrally or centrally. Intelligent interface modules and wireless components allow easy integration into complex building control systems. 3

4 WIDE FIELD OF VIEW AND SAFETY WIDE FIELD OF VIEW, EFFICIENCY AND SAFETY A clear, safe view across the entire indoor swimming pool is as important for swimmers, swimming instructors and lifeguards as it is for athletes, trainers and judges. A higher illumination level is perceived as more comfortable, is better for the eyes and increases concentration levels. In case of larger water surfaces, light reflections should be avoided. Diving platforms require their own light source. No matter if new construction or renovation individual spacial and technical requirements are as critical for lighting design as legal requirements. In order to fulfil the numerous requirements, NORKA offers complete lighting calculations based on the documents of the responsible planning office. Through the use of special lamps, a high colour rendering index (CRI) can be ensured if required. NORKA luminaires boast a CRI of Ra > = 80 and above. The appropriate anti-glare solution significantly contributes to an optimum visual comfort. Several cover plates are available to ensure lowglare illumination. Additionally, many NORKA luminaires can be mounted at the ceiling alongside the pool to avoid incommoding reflections. By installing vertical light sources, the illumination level can be increased in the diving area. On top of that, such luminaires can be maintained from the side. LED combines high light quality with a long service life and low energy consumption. Owing to intelligent solutions such as the XARA lighting control system or the changeable LED units and transformers of the LONDON LED and DUBLIN LED product ranges, NORKA s luminaires offer efficient top performance. On top of that are more than 60,000 hours of service life with a value of L80 L10. This means that in case of a daily operation of 12 hours, maintenance of the lamps is not required for more than 12 years. For indoor swimming pools strict safety regulations must be observed. Electrotechnical protection and corrosion resistance are of particular importance. Electronic components must have a protection rating of at least IP65. The NORKA portfolio also comprises fastening elements made of galvanised steel and anodised aluminium as well as powder-coated parts that reliably withstand the effects of water, humidity and chlorine for long periods. 4 Swimming hall lighting V1.0

5 LIGHTING CONTROL SYSTEM XARA LIGHTING CONTROL SYSTEM SAVING ENERGY WITH SMART LIGHTING CONTROL LUMINAIRE Daylight-controlled control systems in combination with manual switching options for individual lighting scenes present many opportunities for energy saving and lighting design even in indoor swimming pool areas. XARA stands for extended Application RAnge. NORKA not only offers optimum illumination solutions with the XARA lighting control system, but also the corresponding lighting control solution. Like the NORKA luminaires, the XARA lighting control system is also designed for demanding ambient conditions. SENSOR CONTROL SYSTEM The XARA lighting control system is basically divided into three areas: XARA BASIC, XARA ADVANCED and XARA PROFESSIONAL. These provide the flexibility and functionality required for spot-on solutions for your project. Even just a few XARA components create the basis for a light control system and therefore not only lead to a higher energy saving potential but also an increased service life of the built-in luminaires. The lighting design of indoor swimming pools, however, extends to many other building areas that require different solutions. From the entrance area including outside areas through the changing room areas and sanitary facilities to the utility rooms and parking garages, it is always important that people feel comfortable and safe while doing their job, during their training or in their recreational time. With the NORKA range specifically designed for indoor swimming pools, all types of rooms can be illuminated as desired or required.
