1 Fitting Instructions: Sprint ST (050cc) & Tiger (050cc) Top Box Kit - A & A Throughout this operation, ensure that the motorcycle is stabilised and adequately supported to prevent risk of injury from the motorcycle falling. Always have Triumph approved parts, accessories and conversions fitted by a trained technician of an authorised Triumph dealer. The fitment of parts, accessories and conversions by a technician who is not of an authorised Triumph dealer may affect the handling, stability or other aspects of the motorcycles operation which may result in loss of motorcycle control and an accident. This accessory kit is designed for use on Triumph Sprint ST (050cc) and Tiger (050cc) motorcycles only, and should not be fitted to any other Triumph model, or to any other manufacturers motorcycle. Fitting this accessory kit to any other Triumph model or to any other manufacturers motorcycle, may interfere with the rider and could affect the stability and handling of the motorcycle leading to loss of motorcycle control and an accident. NOTE This accessory kit is to be used in conjunction with the relevant rack kit - Triumph part number - A or A (depending on model), and for Tiger 050cc models only, grab rail kit A cdes Parts Supplied:. Top box off Failure to tighten any of the fasteners to the correct torque specification may result in loss of motorcycle control and an accident. Always use a calibrated torque wrench Publication part number A issue, ADC 86 Triumph Designs Ltd 009.

2 NOTE If not already fitted, fit the Rack following the fitting instructions supplied with the relevant rack kit (Triumph part number - A or A950803, depending on model) and for Tiger 050cc models only, grab rail kit A Lock Barrel Fitment. Locate a lock barrel and key (supplied with the motorcycle), insert the key into the barrel and push the barrel into position in the top box until it clicks into place.. Check the operation of the lock barrel by turning the key both anti-clockwise and clockwise. Return the key to the central (locked) position. Mounting the Top Box. Insert the key into the lock. Turn the key anti-clockwise whilst lifting the carrying handle to the fully raised position. 3. Remove the key.. Carrying handle in fully raised position. Key. Position the top box such that the fixed hooks on the bottom of the top box locate with the fixing slots in the sliding carriage. q. Fixed hooks. Fixing slots

3 3. Lower the top box until it sits flat on the sliding carriage. 4. Lock the top box to the sliding carriage by turning the key anti-clockwise whilst pressing the carrying handle to the fully closed position. Turn the key to the central (LOCK) position. Check that the top box is securely locked to the sliding carriage. 3 To unlock the lid of the top box, insert the key. Turn the key to the 'OPEN' position, then press down on the press plate. The lid can then be opened. To lock the lid of the top box, turn the key to the 'OPEN' position, press down on the press plate and close the lid then release the press plate. Turn the key to the central 'LOCK' position and remove it. If the key cannot be removed, repeat the lid locking procedure making sure the lid is properly closed and the press plate has returned to the fully locked position. To unlock and remove the top box from the pannier rail, insert the key into the lock and turn it anti-clockwise whilst lifting the carrying handle to the fully raised position. Use the carrying handle to lift the top box free from the sliding carriage.

4 The maximum safe load for the top box is 5 Kg ( lbs). Never exceed this loading limit as this may cause the motorcycle to become unstable leading to loss of motorcycle control and an accident. In all cases, loads must be evenly distributed on both sides of the motorcycle. Uneven loading may cause instability, loss of motorcycle control and an accident. After fitting this accessory kit, operate the motorcycle in a safe area free from traffic to gain familiarity with the new handling characteristics. Operation when not familiar with the new characteristics of the motorcycle may result in loss of motorcycle control and an accident. Never ride an accessory equipped motorcycle at speeds above the legal speed limit or at a speed inappropriate for the circumstances. Speeds in excess of 80 mph (30 km/h) should not be attempted on an accessory equipped motorcycle even where the legal speed limit permits this. The presence of accessories will cause changes in the stability and handling of the motorcycle. Failure to allow for changes in motorcycle stability may lead to loss of control or an accident. Remember that the 80 mph (30 km/h) absolute limit will be reduced by the fitting of nonapproved accessories, incorrect loading, worn tyres, overall motorcycle condition and poor road or weather conditions. The motorcycle must not be operated above the legal road speed limit except in authorized closed course conditions. Only operate this Triumph motorcycle at high speed in closed-course on-road competition or on closed course racetracks. High-speed operation should only then be attempted by riders who have been instructed in the techniques necessary for high speed riding and are familiar with the motorcycle s characteristics in all conditions. High-speed operation in any other circumstances is dangerous and will lead to loss of motorcycle control and an accident.

5 Fitting Instructions: Supplement for Lock Operation Throughout this operation, ensure that the motorcycle is stabilised and adequately supported on a stand to prevent risk of injury from the motorcycle falling. Always have Triumph approved parts, accessories and conversions fitted by a trained technician of an authorised Triumph dealer. The fitment of parts, accessories and conversions by a technician who is not of an authorised Triumph dealer may affect the handling, stability or other aspects of the motorcycles operation which may result in loss of motorcycle control and an accident. Note: This supplement provides revised instructions for operating the pannier/top box lock mechanism, for removal and installation of the panniers or top box. Opening and closing of the pannier or top box lids is unaffected by this amendment. This supplement should be considered a permanent part of the fitting instructions supplied with the accessory kit. 3 cddo Carrying Handle (pannier lock shown, top box lock similar). Press the carrying handle inwards. Turn the key anti-clockwise 3. Release the handle Insert the key into the lock. Lightly press on the carrying handle and turn the key anti-clockwise. Release the carrying handle. Lift the carrying handle to its fully raised position and remove or install the pannier/top box as required, following the remainder of the accessory kit instructions.

Incorrect loading may result in an unsafe riding condition leading to an accident. Always ensure any loads carried are evenly distributed on both sides of the motorcycle. Ensure that the load is correctly secured such that it will not move around while the motorcycle is in motion. Always check the load security regularly (though not while the motorcycle is in motion) and ensure that the load does not extend beyond the rear of the motorcycle. Never exceed the maximum vehicle loading weight as stated in the Owner s Handbook. This maximum loading weight is made up from the combined weight of the rider, passenger, any accessories fitted and any load carried. After fitting or removing luggage, operate the motorcycle in a safe area free from traffic to gain familiarity with the new handling characteristics.
