3 SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS SAFETY OPERATNG INSTRUCTIONS Save these instructions. For your safety, read, understand, and follow the information provided with and on this strut spring compressor before using. û û This heavy duty wheel lifter should be used for lifting truck, bus and trailer wheels only. Always securely wrap the safety chain around the wheel before use. No person should get any part of the body beneath a wheel that is loaded on to this heavy duty wheel lifter. Do not overload this heavy duty wheel lifter beyond its rated capacity. Overloading this heavy duty wheel lifter beyond its rated capacity can cause damage to or failure of the heavy duty wheel lifter. Use only on hard level surfaces. Use on other than hard level surfaces can result in heavy duty wheel lifter instability. Keep hands & feet clear of the heavy duty wheel lifter hinge mechanism & ground contact area when under load. Ensure all non essential persons keep a safe distance whilst the stand is in use. Always wear approved impact goggles, heavy duty work gloves and appropriate clothing. Maintain correct balance and footing. Ensure the floor is not slippery and wear non slip shoes. Locate the heavy duty wheel lifter in an adequate working area for its function, keep area clean and tidy and free from unrelated materials, and ensure there is adequate lighting. Keep the heavy duty wheel lifter clean for best and safest performance. When servicing, use only Borum identical replacement parts. Use of any other parts will void the warranty. Use the right product for the job. There are certain applications for which the heavy duty wheel lifter was designed. Do not modify the heavy duty wheel lifter and do not use the heavy duty wheel lifter for a purpose for which it was not intended. DO NOT operate unit if damaged. 4 ASSEMBLY, OPERATION, PREVENTITIVE MAINTENANCE 1. FEATURES The Borum heavy duty wheel lifter has specially designed to facilitate the removal and installation of pneumatic tyres and wheel assemblies on trucks, buses and trailers. The hydraulic pump mechanism is easy and safe to operate ensuring hands are free to steady load. The safety chain secures the tyre and wheel assembly to offer operator safety. 2. ASSEMBLY Unpacking: After removing the packing material, make sure the product is in perfect condition and that there are no visible damaged parts. The packaging materials (Polyethylene bags, polystyrene etc.), must be disposed of responsibly in an appropriate refuse collection container. These materials must not be left within the reach of children as they are potential sources of danger. 3. BEFORE USE Inspect before use and do not use this heavy duty wheel lifter if parts are loose or damaged. Apply grease to the front and rear faces of the main upright to assist the smooth sliding of upper and lower strut support rollers. Conduct a visual inspection of heavy duty wheel lifter and ensure pins are securely positioned and that there is no sign of wear or fatigue. 6 4. OPERATION 1. ALWAYS refer to the vehicle owner s manual before determining the vehicle lifting points. 2. Park the vehicle on a flat surface, apply the parking brakes and chock the wheels. 3. Ensure the heavy duty wheel lifter and vehicle are on a hard level surface. 4. Lift the vehicle with an appropriate jack and secure the vehicle load with jack stands. 5. When tyre and wheel assembly are ready to remove. Position wheel lifter to accept tyre and wheel assembly. 6. Use the jack handle to turn release valve clockwise until tight. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN. Insert hydraulic unit handle into handle sleeve of hydraulic unit and pump until lifting arms reaches desired height. 7. Ensure the load is centered on the lifting arms and then secure the load. 8. Carefully move loaded wheel lifter away from hub. Avoid wheel lifter obstructions such as gravel, tools, or uneven expansion joints. 9. Remove tyre and wheel assembly from lifter as soon as convenient. 10. To Install, reverse order. CAUTION: Before moving loaded Wheel Lifter, always secure the load with the provided chain. WARNING: Do not use this Wheel Lifter to free a seized up wheel assembly. For typical practice of taking out a seized up wheel assembly, a long metal bar can be used to pry the wheel assembly from the stuck wheel axle. If in doubt, always follow vehicle's manufacturer manual on how to remove tyre and wheel assembly. 5. STORAGE This Borum heavy duty wheel lifter should always be stored in a dry location on a level surface. 6. MAINTENANCE Inspect the product for damage, wear, broken or missing parts and that all components function before each use. Remove from service immediately if damaged in any way. NOTE: To avoid personal injury or damage, permit only qualified personnel to perform maintenance. See repair parts breakdown for replacement parts. ALWAYS: Keep lifting arms free of oil and grease. DAILY: Inspect hydraulic unit, hooks, posts, lock pins and slots for wear. MONTHLY: Wipe down and clean all mechanisms and hydraulic unit. PERIODICALLY: Inspect unit for loose or missing components. SERVICE & REPAIR Any Borum heavy duty wheel lifter found damaged in any way, or found to be worn or operates abnormally should be removed from service until repaired by an authorised service agent. Owners and / or operators should be aware that repair of this product may require specialised equipment and knowledge. Only authorised parts, labels, decals shall be used on this equipment. Annual inspection of the strut spring compressor is recommended and can be made by an authorised repair facility to ensure that your equipment is in optimum condition and that the equipment has the correct decals and safety labels specified by the manufacturer. 8 WARRANTY Borum products have been carefully tested and inspected before shipment and are guaranteed to be free from defective materials and workmanship for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase except where tools are hired out when the guarantee period is ninety days from the date of purchase. Should this piece of equipment develop any fault, please return the complete tool to your nearest authorised warranty repair agent or contact TQB Brands Pty Ltd Warranty team warranty@tqbbrands.com.au. If upon inspection it is found that the fault occurring is due to defective materials or workmanship, repairs will be carried out free of charge. This guarantee does not apply to normal wear and tear, nor does it cover any damage caused by misuse, careless or unsafe handling, alterations, accident, or repairs attempted or made by any personnel other than the authorised TQB Brands Pty Ltd repair agent. This guarantee applies in lieu of any other guarantee expressed or implied and variations of its terms are not authorised. Your TQB Brands Pty Ltd guarantee is not effective unless you can produce upon request a dated receipt or invoice to verify your proof of purchase within the 12 month period. Consumer Guarantee Our goods come with a guarantee that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
