This accessory kit is the product of Triumph's use of proven engineering, exhaustive testing, and continuous striving for superior reliability, safety and performance. Completely read all of these instructions before commencing the installation of the accessory kit in order to become thoroughly familiar with the kit s features and the installation process. These instructions should be considered a permanent part of your accessory kit, and should remain with it even if your accessory-equipped motorcycle is subsequently sold. cgem 6 5 Parts Supplied:. 2 Always have Triumph approved parts, accessories and conversions fitted by a trained technician of an authorised Triumph dealer. The fitment of parts, accessories and conversions by a technician who is not of an authorised Triumph dealer may affect the handling, stability or other aspects of the motorcycle's operation which may result in loss of motorcycle control and an accident.. Remove the following items, as described in the service manual: Side panels; Rear panel; Rear suspension unit, which includes the detachment of the exhaust silencers and the rear subframe.. From the kit, fit the reservoir clamp to the mounting bracket and secure using the two M5 x 6 mm screws and two M5 locknuts. Tighten to 5 Nm. This accessory kit is designed for use on Triumph Tiger 050 motorcycles only and should not be fitted to any other Triumph model or to any other manufacturer's motorcycle. Fitting this accessory kit to any other Triumph model, or to any other manufacturer's motorcycle, will affect the stability and handling of the motorcycle. This may affect the rider s ability to control the motorcycle and could cause an accident. Throughout this operation, ensure that the motorcycle is stabilised and adequately supported to prevent risk of injury from the motorcycle falling. A torque wrench of known accurate calibration must be used when fitting this accessory kit. Failure to tighten any of the fasteners to the correct torque specification may affect motorcycle performance, handling and stability. This may result in loss of motorcycle control and an accident. If the engine has been running recently, the exhaust system will be hot. Before working on or near the exhaust system, allow sufficient time for the exhaust system to cool as touching any part of a hot exhaust system could cause burn injuries. Prior to fitting the rear suspension kit, ensure the motorcycle is clean. cgen. Reservoir clamp. Mounting bracket. Screws, M5 x 6 mm. Locknuts, M5 The rear suspension unit must be fitted such that the union securing the reservoir hose is pointing to the rear of the motorcycle.. Align the new rear suspension unit to its upper mounting. Loosely fit the upper mounting bolt from the left, and a new nut.. Align the rear suspension unit to the drop link. Loosely fit the bolt from the left, and a new nut. 5. Tighten the rear suspension unit upper mounting to 8 Nm. 6. Tighten the rear suspension lower mounting to 8 Nm. of 6

3 7. Fit the reservoir to its clamp. Ensure that the split line in the reservoir clamp is 0 to the left of the reservoir hose, as shown below viewed on the compression damping adjuster side of the reservoir. 0. Align the reservoir and bracket assembly to the subframe as shown below ensuring that; The reservoir hose is routed around the black cable for the starter solenoid. The black cable for the battery is above the reservoir hose. The reservoir and bracket assembly is angled towards, but not touching, the battery tray. 0. Reservoir. Reservoir clamp. Union. Compression damping adjuster 8. Fit the M5 x mm screw and locknut to the clamp and tighten to Nm. 9. Align the upper mountings of the subframe to the main frame and fit the bolts. Do not fit the nuts at this stage. cgeo. Black lead, battery. Black lead, starter solenoid. Reservoir hose. Bracket. Check that the reservoir hose is not twisted. If twisted, release the screw on the clamp and rotate the reservoir until the hose is no longer twisted. Tighten the screw to Nm.. Reservoir clamp. Screw of 6

4 . Fit new locknuts to the upper and lower subframe mounting bolts. Do not fully tighten at this stage.. Tighten the upper subframe mounting nuts to 60 Nm and the lower nuts to 0 Nm.. Align the silencer mounting bracket to the frame and refit the bolt and a new nut. Tighten to 5 Nm. 5. Refit the starter solenoid to its two retaining blades on the rear mudguard. 6. Refit the following items as described in the service manual: Rear panel; Side panels; The battery. 7. Connect the battery, red (positive) lead first. 8. Refit the seat, as described in the service manual. 9. Remove the support. Adjustment Standard Settings Free spring length 80 mm Spring pre-load 5 mm Compression damping clicks Rebound damping clicks Stroke 6.5 mm Rear suspension unit length 50 mm Rear Suspension Unit Setting Chart Ensure that the correct balance between front and rear suspension is maintained by following the settings below. Suspension inbalance could significantly change handling characteristics leading to loss of control and an accident. For the front suspension settings refer to the owner handbook, for the Öhlins rear suspension settings refer to the suspension setting chart below or consult your dealer. The suspension setting chart is only a guide. Setting requirements may vary for rider weight and personal preferences. For the front suspension settings on Tiger 050, refer to the owner handbook. 5 Spring Pre-load Adjustment Compression Damping. Spring pre-load adjuster The spring pre-load adjuster is situated on the right hand side of the motorcycle, at the top of the rear suspension unit. To adjust the spring pre-load setting, rotate the hexagon adjuster clockwise to increase, or anti-clockwise to decrease. The settings are measured by the number of turns back from the fully clockwise (maximum) position. The rear suspension unit is delivered from the factory with the spring pre-load set to turns back from the fully clockwise (maximum) position. cgew. Compression damping adjuster The compression damping adjuster is located on the rear suspension unit reservoir. To access the adjuster, remove the seat as described in the service manual. To adjust the compression damping, turn the adjuster knob clockwise to increase, or anti-clockwise to decrease. Always count the number of clicks back from the fully clockwise (maximum) position. The rear suspension unit is delivered from the factory with the compression damping adjuster set to clicks back from the fully clockwise (maximum) position. 5 of 6

6 Rebound Damping Checks Regularly check the following components of the rear suspension unit. The time required is minimal and these checks will help ensure a safe, reliable ride. Ball joints - check for excessive free play, Piston shaft - check for fluid leaks and damage, Reservoir - check for external damage, Mounting nuts and bolts - check for loose or damaged nuts and bolts. If any irregularities are found during these checks, see your authorised Triumph dealer for the action required to return the motorcycle to a safe operating condition.. Rebound damping adjuster The rebound damping adjuster wheel is located on the piston shaft above the lower mounting. To adjust the rebound damping setting, turn the wheel clockwise to increase damping, or anti-clockwise to decrease. Always count the number of clicks back from the fully clockwise (maximum) position. The rear suspension unit is delivered from the factory with the rebound damping adjuster set to clicks back from the fully clockwise (maximum) position. Cleaning and Maintenance Recommended Service Intervals To maintain the rear suspension unit in a safe and reliable condition, it must be regularly serviced by an authorised Öhlins workshop at the intervals listed below. The recommended service intervals for this rear suspension unit are: For Racing Every 0 hours of operation. Maximum 0 hours of operation without service or oil change. For Regular Road Use Every 0,000 km. Regularly clean the rear suspension unit with cold water and a mild automotive cleaner. While cleaning, lift the rubber bump stop and clean the area below it. Avoid spraying water with any great force directly on to the adjuster knobs and the suspension unit mountings. When clean, spray the unit with oil (i.e. WD-0 or equivalent) and wipe off any excessive oil with a cloth. Caution The use of high-pressure spray washers is not recommended. When using pressure washers, water may be forced into bearings and other components causing premature wear from corrosion and loss of lubrication. 6 of 6
