10 History: September 24, 2013, proposal of CNPA to highlight the heart of our teaching profession of driving and road safety June 16, 2014 CNSR, two elements are proposed to improve the training of young drivers: implement compulsory theoretical appointments during the formation establish a post-permis during the probationary CNSR December 8, 2014 presentation of a point to step on the construction of a new organisation of initial training May 11, 2015 CNSR, project approval and start of work

11 A continuum en with two stages: The initial training, from 15 years until confirmation of the right to drive The post-test, after initial training with a confirmed license

12 The 5 workshops of road risk, planned during the initial phase, with themes that could be addressed: Data from road safety, accidents and system HVE. The actions of first aid. The concept of reaction time, usually, fatigue and vigilance. Risk taking. The use of the phone. Speed: influence on the vehicle and the driver. Driving at night. Taken into account and adapting to weather. Other users: other motorists, pedestrians, two-wheeled buses and trucks. The psycho-active products and their influence / impacts on the driver.

14 Each venue experience : During the phase of autonomy. 3 hours 15: 1 h 15 outstanding and 2 h in room. They must allow exchanges of experience and focus road safety behaviours. They intervene while it leads in autonomy but that it has not yet anchored parasitic automation systems.

28 Theory test Around 1.6 million theory tests are taken each year The test is made up of 2 parts: multiple choice (45 questions plus a case study with 5 questions) hazard perception test (14 video clips showing 15 developing hazards) Various support materials are available Safety Standards Service

30 Theory test Changes HPT filmed clips have been converted to CGI, which gives opportunity to create situations that we could not film safely. Current clips used in the test are based on the original filmed clips from when HPT was introduced (with updated vehicles, streets and people). Safety Standards Service

31 Theory test Plans for theory test development: Introduce a wider range of clips featuring vulnerable road users (short-term) Introduce clips that feature level crossings (short-term) Convert suitable existing clips to show night-time or adverse weather conditions (medium-term) Develop clips that depict hazards related to driving at night or in adverse weather (medium-term) Safety Standards Service

32 Theory test Next steps: Explore the use of short clips to support case studies in the multiple choice test, concentrating initially on scenarios that include level crossings (mediumterm). Safety Standards Service

33 Theory test Longer term: Explore the potential for a journey, where candidates view a journey and, as well needing to identify hazards, will be asked questions before setting out and en-route (long-term). Safety Standards Service
