3 Technical Guidance HONDA VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist) 1. Function Introduction: The VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist) combines ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and TCS (Traction Control System) with side-slip control to help stabilize the vehicle whenever it turns more or less than desired. ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) is an existing system that prevents the vehicle's wheels from locking up under braking, especially in slippery road conditions. TCS (Traction Control System): When one or both driving wheels has insufficient traction due to a combination of throttle opening, cornering force and low grip levels of the road surface, the Traction Control System will automatically reduce engine power until traction is re-established. 2. When to perform VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist) Neutral test: (1). The VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist) ECU has been replaced. (2). The steering angle sensor has been replaced. (3). The brake pressure sensor has been replaced. (4). The lateral acceleration sensor has been replaced. (5). DTC 84-1 is stored in the VSA control unit. 3. Pre-requisites: (1). Turn the ignition ON and the engine is stopped. (2). Park the vehicle on a level surface. (3). Put the steering wheel in the straight-ahead position. (4). Do not depress brake pedal during this procedure. (5). No DTC except for 84-1 is stored in the VSA control unit.
