CHARPY Test Procedure The CHARPY test procedure may be summarized as follows: the test specimen is thermally conditioned and positioned on the specimen supports against the anvils; the pendulum is released without vibration, and the specimen is impacted by the striker. Information is obtained from the machine and from the broken specimen.

4 Operation Button Description Raise Raise pendulum to 150. Release Impact Emergency stop Press & Hold more than 3 seconds to release pendulum. Press [RELEASE] & [IMPACT] simultaneously to drop pendulum. Whenever you consider that safety may be compromised, stop the test using the Emergency Stop button. Typical Test Operation Sequence The following is a recommended operation sequence for performing tests on one batch of specimens. Standard supply of Centering tongs for V-notched CHARPY specimens Initial setup 1. Enter test parameters into the system using the control console. These parameters include qualified energy and batch quantity. 2. Latch the pendulum in the ready position. 3. Set dial equally point to the potential energy of pendulum (300J). Testing 1. Install the specimen. 2. Press [RELEASE] & [IMPACT] simultaneously to drop pendulum. 3. Install a new specimen and repeat the test sequence. Print Report 1. Set report parameters. 2. Print test report.

5 Expandable to PC control mode The CBDTest2.0 Test software provides real-time display of pendulum raising angles, impact energy and other parameters. All operations can be done from the software, such as pendulum raising, releasing, impacting, and returning. Test results can be saved automatically to Access database, or easily exported to Excel. The straight forward interface of software is easy to operate and user-friendliness.
