4 THE HELM: The helm of the boat contains all of the important hardware to monitor and control the boat. Location of Components COMPASS NAVIGATION SYSTEM ACCESORY SWITCHBOARD THROTTLE CONTROLS MAIN ELECTRICAL PANEL Accessory Switchboard The accessory switchboard contains switches, which send power to many of the boat s accessories. If an accessory is not powering up, always check to make sure that the switch has been engaged. NOTE: Switches remain active even when the engine is not running. Always return switches to the OFF position to avoid battery drain when storing the boat. Each switch is individually labeled. Switches are push ON/OFF style. A depressed switch is in the ON position and a flush switch is in the OFF position. NOTE: for more information on the location and operation of each switch consult the user s manual. Compass Your boat is equipped with a standard compass, which can be used in the event that the navigation system fails. It is important to be familiar with its operation when offshore for emergency purposes. 4

5 PLUMBING SYSTEM Freshwater System Your boat is equipped with a freshwater system, which includes a freshwater holding tank, freshwater pump, and freshwater shower system. The fresh water is also used to flush the toilet located in the onboard head. The switch for the freshwater system is located on the accessory switch panel. NOTE: Keep the freshwater pump in the OFF position when not in use. The freshwater pump is located in the bilge along with many of the other onboard boat pumps. The freshwater tank is located below the deck. The fill valve for the freshwater tank is located in the starboard side gunwale. NOTE: Always fill the freshwater tank with drinkable fresh water. Raw Water Washdown Your boat is equipped with a raw water washdown feature. This system allows an owner to wash debris from the boat using seawater. The switch, which activates the high-pressure pump, is located on the accessory switch panel. NOTE: Keep the raw water pump in the OFF position when not in use. Livewell Your boat is equipped with a livewell, which circulates raw water though an onboard livewell tank. To operate properly, the valve inside the livewell must be adjusted to provide an even flow in and out of the livewell. Too much and it will be more than the drain can handle, too little and the water will not get the proper circulation. The valve should be turned counterclockwise to open and clockwise to close. The livewell drains through a hose connected to a thru-hull fitting on the port side of the boat. To completely drain the livewell, remove the bottom plug and allow the water to drain overboard. 5

6 BATTERIES AND ELECTRICAL Locations of Batteries and Components Your boat is equipped with 3 batteries, which are located under the deck access door. Two batteries are reserved for the engines, while the other battery is used as a house battery to power the boat s electronics. The electrical system consists of the batteries, ACR system as well as two electrical switch panels. NOTE: AGM style batteries use a different technology than traditional Lead-Acid batteries. Always install only AGM compatible equipment such as battery chargers or inverters. The main electrical panel is located below the helm station and provides power and electrical safety through fuses to all of the electrical systems onboard the boat. The main fuse panel also includes the battery selector switch. The accessory switch panel is located at the helm station is used to power all of the accessory electronics onboard the boat such as the navigation lights. See the HELM section for more information. Automatic Charging Relay System Your boat is equipped with an automatic charging relay system, which will automatically combine the batteries when the engine is running for charging, and isolate them when the engines are off. With this system, you will not need to use the battery selector switch to charge the batteries. Battery Selector Switch The boat uses a set of battery selector switches, which provide isolation for each battery and also provide the ability to have a backup in case of a dead or weak starter battery. When in port and running accessories such as entertainment equipment or pumps, the selector switch should be set t o the O N p osition. When leaving the boat unattended, the selector switch should be in the OFF position. The battery switches also contains a COMBINE position, which can be used for emergencies in the case that your engine batteries are discharged, but the house battery still has power. The engine COMBINE position combines the engine batteries, while the main COMBINE position combines all three batteries. NOTE: Avoid leaving the selector in the COMBINE position, as the weak battery will drain the charged battery, leaving you with two weak batteries. 6

7 ONBOARD HEAD Your boat is equipped with a built in head (toilet) system which includes a freshwater head, sink, as well as storage pump out tank. This head system is different from a conventional household toilet system in order to meet the demands of a marine environment. PRE-OPERATION CHECKS NOTE: Your head system uses fresh water from the onboard freshwater tank, not raw water, used for the raw water wash-down. Verify that the freshwater tank is full Verify that the waste tank is NOT full. 7

8 ONBOARD HEAD WARNING: IF THE INDICATOR IS RED (tank is full) THE TOILET WILL NOT FLUSH BEFORE/AFTER USE Before use, press the ADD WATER button on the toilet control gauge, located below the tank indicator gauge. After use, press the FLUSH bottom on the toilet control gauge The toilet control panel NOTE: The onboard head uses a digital toilet control panel, and not a standard flush valve, found in household toilet facilities. WARNING: Do not overfill using the ADD WATER button USING THE BUILT IN SINK Your boat is equipped with a freshwater sink located inside the boat located aft (towards the back) of the head locker. Verify that the freshwater tank is full NOTE: The grey water drains directly to the bilge and is evacuated through the bilge pump system. Never use the onboard sink to dump chemicals that could harm marine life. USING THE OVERBOARD PUMP-OUT FEATURE WARNING: U.S. Coast Guard regulations prohibit performing waste pump-outs while near shore. Always check with your local Coast Guard for details before performing an offshore pump-out. Your boat is equipped with a wastewater tank pump out which can be used to empty the waste tank when offshore. Always verify that your boat complies with US Coast Guard regulation for offshore dumping. 8

9 ONBOARD HEAD Open the pump out valve located on the starboard side of the head. The waste tank pump out valve Press and hold the PUMP OUT button on the HELM to empty the tank. Close and lock the pump out valve. WARNING: Always verify that the pump out valve has been successfully closed before returning to shore. Otherwise the waste tank could leak resulting in damage. 10 SAFETY SYSTEMS FIRE EXTINGUISHER SYSTEM Your boat is equipped with two portable type fire extinguishers. U.S. Coast Guard Regulation requires that all boats have functioning fire extinguishers. NOTE: Always know the location and condition of all fire extinguishers on the boat, and understand their operation. Location of Onboard Fire Extinguishers Emergency Engine Stop Lanyard Your boat is equipped with an automatic engine stop lanyard, also known as a kill switch. In the event that the captain is thrown overboard, the engine will automatically shut off. The engine stop lanyard clips to the operator s and the engine ignition panel. NOTE: If the engine will not start always check that the engine stop lanyard is connected. 10
